This is flippin' amazing! I wish I could have seen Whitney live in the 80's/early 90's. No question, the best female vocalist ever. She commands a stage and exudes sex appeal while still keeping it classy. Mariah, Celine, Madonna, Janet, Toni, all wish they could sing like this. I feel sorry for kids today who think that Katy Perry, Rihanna and GaGa are singers.

A true soprano has a higher sounding pitch.

true Sopranos don't sound very nice unless hitting the higher notes.

Altos have a muchg better resonance when hitting notes from middle C to the octave above.

Whitney's voice is an alto that could extend into the soprano range.

If you go look at some genuine sopranos youll agree the tone isn't that nice - it's a bit squeaky!

Whitney is not an alto. She's a mezzo-soprano. Mezzo-Soprano's have a very strong mid-register, unlike other types of soprano's, who have higher upper registers.

Just because you can hit notes, dosnt mean you can fully sing them throught out the song. its called range. Diana ross is a true soprano, or patti labelle. Whitney is an alto with great vocal traning and a wide range

a good way to tell if someone is truly a soprano or alto is age. when your young, you can practically sing anything, but when you get older, if your voice drops (like mine did) you were never a true soprano to begin with. Diana Ross, Mariah carey, and patti labelle still have high sporano voices, at theur ages. btw Whitey houston took the alto keys with duets with CeCe winans and Brandy (cinderella). and her rendition of "Home". It was obviously more comfortable for her.
