oh my good im confused on what the alexander technique is everybody says and do something different. can somebody please give me a clear idea on what im suppose to do???
@b3arzy Yes it would correct forward head posture, especially when you see that forward head posture is wrongly named. Forward head posture is actually forward neck posture.
Brennan is an excellent teacher! And he's speaking entirely off the cuff, which is far harder, of course. I skeak as a teacher myself, of breath control. Remember to BREATHE.
Detials of how to find an Alexander Teacher anywhere in the world can be got from my website. Just put Richard Brennan Alexander Technique into any search engine.
to get a real change in yourself you must see an AT teacher on a regular basis though. lying down work can only get you so far :) but yes lying down work is great and best in the morning
Good grief, of all the places to encounter the man who permanently fixed my bad back! Can't recommend Rick's classes highly enough... and Rick, if you read this, I can't thank you enough for the workshops you ran all those years ago in Paignton.
for as long as I can remember, my neck has been curved forward. A few of my sisters have curved spines, too. My brother measured the length between my neck and the wall and there was a two inch difference. help? advice? is this genetic?
thanks 4 makin dis vid, i'm a little hunched n i fought ders nothin dat i cud do about it, can u tell me please roughly how long will take to make my back straight n does it increase ur hieght a little?
Past 2wks I' ve had burning feeling across shldrs + pain in neck + back. Did your video and it felt so good againt floor for 20 mn. Will do again tonight. Feel the difference already. Fabulous. Thank you so much! Brenda
hello from the Maldives..i have bad posture..i wanna correct it..i also have c5c6 herniated disc..is this exercise safe for me to do?
i play guitar.the thing is cos of this disc problem my palms get very stiff and sometimes it gets tingling sensations..can i get rid of this stiffness?any exercises to loosen up the muscles or nerves..
by the way i have a seat like those u showed on the other video..i wil start using it asap..
a posture is always a posture even when it is corrected. Alexander Technique is not about correcting posture. It is more to recognize habits which interfere with our natural use of the self. It is not this endgaining stuff do this and that,,,you can think that or this ....If we are natural, we do have no posture, but live under balanced and free conditiones.
This is a really great tutorial, thanks a lot for posting. I've been working with the Alexander Technique lately to help with shoulder and neck pain I get from playing guitar. Doing this before I play really helps me notice the excess tension.
i was reading a book about the alex technique yesterday. I have severe back and neck pain and pain in my knees and ankles. doctors said its cause by bad posture. I tried yesterday the semi-supine position and i am amazed by it. thanks you very much learning more from you.
Sweet! Does this mean I can get a doctors note to take naps at work ?!

I like the way he shows us how to get down on the floor, which gets harder as you get older and if you are overweight.

@kablooie27
it should be safe for you to do the lying down exercise, but to be safe you could check with your doctor first
regarding your other question about your palms, it is probably best that you see an Alexander Technique teacher locally.
Hope that is some help...
