  • I love this movie, I watched it when I was just a kid!

  • I sung this for a voice recital. Please watch on my channel :)

  • Makes me mad that not very many people know about this movie.

  • This song gives me chills! LOVE this movie! I plan to show it to my kid(s) since I grew up with it :) Thanks for uploading this!

  • 1 person sings like a goat

  • I still have the VHS of this movie. I grew up watching this movie as well. Great story. I love the musical part of the movie as well.

  • 1 person can't sing.

  • I love this song! It has a great message, but near the end of the movie when he gets beat up makes me cry.

  • <3 beautiful <3

  • He can sing so beautifully =]

  • I met Joseph Paur at an audition, such a lovely man. I was very surprised that they were having him audition though. I would have immediately said "you want to be in my little, not quite professional musical? Done and Done.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever! "April Child" from this same movie would probably rank first.

  • This movie was so good, that as an adult I had to buy the soundtrack. Does Joseph Paur do anything these days? His voice is beautiful...

  • @vegnout7

I just saw him in A Tale of Two Cities at Hale Center Theatre in Salt Lake!! I couldn't believe it was him!! He is sooo good! :)

  • I cant find the sheet music to this song. But i love the movie it is amazing!!!

  • @SpoofTard1 You can buy a book with the sheet music in it from familytv.com, which is the website for Feature Films for Families.

  • This song is probably my favorite from this film. I was seven years old when it came out apparently. My older sister would play this and the others from the movie on our piano as she would sing.... so beautifully. I miss those days. And life is not fair, but the greatest tragedy is succumbing to that bitterness. And now I know this well also. But life also gives us MANY second chances: a chance to break the 'curse'. ;) Thanks. This song will always remain with me. :)

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!! Make me cry everytime!!!! Joesph Paur is AMAZING!!!!!

  • I fell a little bit in love the first time I saw this...

  • This remains one of the most powerful songs I've heard. I used to watch this movie all the time when I was younger.

  • I have the original movie from when it first came out. My children and I still love it to this day. God Bless the Paur family for teaching a valuable lesson to many with this film.

  • This is my cousin. Joseph Paur. The movie was directed my his brother Leo. He is so amazing and has a ridiculously loud voice. I heard him sing and my grandma's funeral and I was as far away from him as possible and he wasn't using a mic but it sounded like he was right next to me.

  • @BlondeBYUBabe You are very fortunate to belong to such a gifted family. Bless you all!

  • where can i get the dvd??? please

  • omg i luv this movie so much its basically just a beauty and the beast set in the 30's..

  • You can buy the DVD and the music CD at familytv.com for much cheaper than Amazon. Buying from them also supports this great company that makes these great family movies.

  • i love this movie! I am actually trying to find it on dvd, so i can buy it!

  • @hiphopbunny100 You can get it on amazon. But it's limited supplys.

  • His voice is incredible. Where can I buy the MP3 for this song? I can't find any music for sale by Joseph Paur.

  • does anyone know where i can watch this online????

  • @faithgirl777 on here

  • I remember watching this as a child and being in AWE of the music, voices, and dresses... i just watched it again and although I still love it... the girl is NOT as good of an actor as I a remember and her voice is DEF not as good :)... but his voice is BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • LOVED THIS AS A CHILD!!! :')

I really believe that the Love of G-d is really behind this music.

ps: still have the vhs & vhs player! :D

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV why did you sensor God he is real and he is very loving and merciful no one should have to sensor his name

  • @abbyrocks100

Well, I have a lot of Messianic Jewish friends [even on YouTube] & I agree with them that the Lord's name is sacred. That's why the dash is there.

It's not anything like "rude censorship" or anything such like, so it's no problem.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV ok I am sorry if I offended you. I was just raised not to be afraid to use God's name in a situation like that. My apologies :)

  • This makes me freakin' cry!!! UGH! Too Beautiful!

  • One of my favorite movies I grew up on. Paur has such a beautiful voice, very operatic. Good messages throughout the entire movie as well. Grew up on it and feel nostalgic every time I watch it. Heard it compared to beauty and the beast and the phantom of the opera which is a decent thing to compare it to. I highly recommend it to anyone who has not seen it.

  • This is one of my favorite songs from a movie ever.

  • a wonderfully inspiring movie with great messages and lovely music. This song nearly makes me cry its so beautiful yet so sad and true

  • this movie, yeah this one, it never got enough credit. JUSTICE I SAY!

  • He is SUCH a good looking man. At the end, when you see him without the scarred face... woohoo!!! :)

  • INFO!

Paur starred in the musical film Rigoletto as the title character Ribaldi/Rigoletto. The film features Paur's classically trained voice in the songs The Curse, lyrics by Michael McLean and April Child, by Chance Thomas. Paur also played in The Testaments and had a brief appearance as an opera singer in The Man from Elysian Fields.

Paur toured with the cast of "1856" The Musical, which premiered in 2005.

  • I love this movie. I saw it once when I was a child, and it never left my mind or heart. I saw Joseph Paur in person once in Salt Lake City at the Capitol Theatre for the play "1856." A dear friend recommeded. "1856" was amazing and touched my heart so. I remember also a sweet little girl with glasses that played the role of Margaret. She was like an angel, and I gave her a little kiss on the cheek as I left. Unforgettable films! Thank you!!!

  • I've been looking for this for over 10 years. Thank you.

  • i absolutley LOVE his voice!!! can I find his music anywhere else besides this wonderful movie?!?!

  • @tabitwin Joseph Paur is a Latter-day Saint singer and actor who has appeared in several films and musical productions. The majority of Paur's professional work has been related to Mormon cinema and theater as well as family-friendly films produced in Utah aimed at a wider audience

  • OMG, this brings back some memories! I loved watching Rigoletto growing up! :)

  • haha i have the VHS!!! i LOVE this song!!

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!! I wish they had the part before this when Hans sings haha

  • such a beautiful song

  • I just realized that Bonnie aka Ivey lloyd also appears in Disney's Wish upon a Star.

  • i LOVE this movie and song go Rigoletto

  • "yet we'd rather blame and curse our fate than change. We'd run from everyone to hide from the pain and all the shame...."

    This song is so true.

  • im friends with him on facebook :)

  • This used to be my "sick movie" aka everytime I was sick I would sit in the living room and watch this movie for hours on end. I watched it so many times I wore out 3 VHS tapes and my mom finally got me a DVD of it. lol I am 17 and still 100% in love with this movie. <3

  • I <3 this song and movie. Joesph Paur is an AMAZING singer!!

  • I Love this movie it is awesome movie beautiful Joesph Paur singer as well Handsome actor I would love to see more of His movies or more of his songs if he sings any other songs in does he have cd or tapes of him.

  • @TheHeatherash i have to admit i saw this ov in class and i thought that was kurt russel looks just like him

  • this is loosely based on the story Rigoletto which is also an opera

  • it's called rigoletto

  • i saw this movie in 3rd grade and 5th grade .but i'm really in the 5th grade

  • Is this a true story?

  • No it is not a true story. If I'm correct, there have been plays done before this and originated from somewhere in Europe.

  • It is based off of the phantom of the opera and beauty and the beast. :)

  • I love this movie!!!!

:) Is this a true story?

  • Thanks for adding them! I have been looking for these for awhile!

  • amazingg movie one of my favorites of all time

  • omg...this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard....the lyrics and his voice is so haunting....one of my all time favorite movies.

  • I would like to purchase the instumental track to this song does anyone know where I can find one?

  • Amazon, sweetie! 20 bucks! ^_~

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, no I think that was actually just the soundtrack... But you could try contacting the company that originally distributed the film. Feature Films for Families? (geez what a toungue twister...) I don't know if they can help, but maybe ask if they have a karaoke version?

  • I love this movie!!!!!

  • omg i love this movie!<333

  • i looooove to be able to play this song

  • I love this song so much and I absolutely adore his voice. So awesome. One of my all time favorite movies!!

  • I literally grew up watching this movie!!! I haven't seen it in forever but the songs still get stuck in my head, esp Let Me In from the very beginning of the movie. LOVE IT!!!

  • I remember one Christmas years ago when my family was sent a set of movies by mail. I think it was from a church. This was one of them, and even today, it is one of my favorites. ^^

  • I love Joseph Paur's voice! He is amazing!

  • ooh! i remember this part! GUILT TRIP SEQUENCE!! yay!

  • thanks Nikita4ever9000

  • Can anyone download the whole movie so some of us who haven't seen it can watch it. Someone downloaded the whole The Polar Express Movie. That's another one of my favorite movies.

  • It's only on VHS.

  • @Nagneto Then we need to get them to put it on DVD.

  • @Nikita4ever9000 You can find it on Family Feature Films on DVD online. Just ordered mine this summer. :)

  • It is on DVD now :)

  • Actually I know for sure that it is on DVD, because my college library has it, I check it out every now and then

  • I don't even know how or why, but for some reason, I recalled having watched this in my sixth-grade choir class on one of our occasional "movie days." At the time, I really enjoyed it, and I'm pleased that I could at least a few bits of the film on YouTube. It brings back good memories when you see something that you haven't seen in a long time.

  • anybody know where i could get this song?

  • @lori7777777777777777 Try your local music store that sells sheet music if you have one. Or go to the nearest town that has one and they can order it for you.

  • i also saw the movie when i was young with my sisters.... he is amazing... this movie was so sad.

  • @krissylovu1 what happened at he end? i was watching this movie at school but i never saw the end what happened?

  • @narutoha99inuyashato The guy who taught the girl to sing that had the disfigured face was killed by a group of towns people who thought he had done something to one of their children and thought he was a monster because he was disfigured, but later he comes back under a different name alive. As though the curse was broken and his face was fixed.

  • I love this song. I think Joseph Paur has such an amazing voice. I saw this movie when I was like 3 and have been obsessed ever since and I am 12 now. This is the reason I started singing. my favorite musical of all time. And this is one of the best songs in the movie. Like 2 years ago My grandparents who own the movie took me to see the play Rigoletto but it was nothing like the movie. The movie is so much better. I LOVE RIGOLETTO.

  • WHY isn't he more famous?? His voice is so wonderful, its so moving!

  • He is famous, but he doesn't let that get to his head. That's the wonder about Joseph Paur. His voice is amazing, but shares it in more intimate settings. He's quite genuine and very personable. He actually came into my work (a sheet music store) and didn't even draw attention to himself. I only really recognized him because I'm a big fan.

  • when and where did that happen bro?

  • It happened actually the day I posted my comment, so . . . October 23rd. It happened at Day Murray Music in Murray, Utah. He lives in the local neighborhood and comes in regularly I'm told, but I've only seen him once. Like I said, he makes no effort to announce himself wherever he goes.

  • omg your so lucky you got to meet him he's the reason i started singing

  • Definitly one of my favorite movies.

  • This movie was absolutely amazing!!

  • Good movie... I remember watching it like 6 years ago XD

  • I love this song and movie....as a young girl I would watch it...and then rewind it (oh, the days of vcr's), and then watch it again. This movie should have been much more popular.

  • True....I wish this movie had been more popular. It definitely is one of my childhood favs.

  • @glarita89 AMEN!!

This was a movie that shaped me as a child- I wish more people were exposed to it!

  • i love this movie i have it!

  • would you upload the whole thing?

  • Could you enable the embedding again? I love your videos and I want to add them to my facebook and myspace so others can enjoy them too!

  • he IS freaking talented singer and at the end he is kinda cute

  • I love how Hans can make violins and horns come out of that piano! I love Hans! "Paitence is a Vritue!"

  • lol.. he's freakin talented..

  • @chubby485 "Patience is a virtue? Get your snibbeling, pasty face out of here! NOW!!!" HAHAHAHAHAHA Ah the memories.

  • Lol, yes.

Even though Ribaldi is so mean to him, he remains loyal... <3

  • @chubby485 Great part of the movie! But Ribaldi responds so meanly!

  • @chubby485 i laughed and fell back in my chair when hans tries to sing and rigoletto chucks a book at hans lol it still tickles me

  • I love this song and movie, it's one of my favorites.

  • I just watched this for the first time and I cried like a baby!! It is a beautiful movie!!!

  • it is a beautiful movie, i have watched at least a million times and it still makes me cry

  • I hear ya! every time...Joseph Paur not only has an amazing voice, but is also an amazing actor!

  • i cant find all of the movie :( does anybody know where i can find it

  • the best song of all time. and the best movie.

  • I used to have this movie's soundtrack on cassette tape. Jeez, I wouldn't know how to transfer it to mp3's if I did know where it was now.. This is so great.

  • Does anyone know where you can find the sheet music for the songs in this movie??

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • i absolutely love this movie!

  • I <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 this song, and the movie. Unfortunately, were I live, this movie is virtually unknown :0.

  • I love this movie!!! Joeseph Paur has an amazing voice. Thank you!!!

  • I love this movie. I feel it really teach you something about life.

  • ♥i loved the movie♥

  • I want more recordings of his. But, I have yet to find anything other than this movie. His voice is so wonderful. I just love it.

  • such a beautiful voice i cant stand it

  • Rigoletto is one of my favorite movies, I love the songs from it!!!!(=

  • such a voice it is sooo beautiful

  • it's your basic "beauty and the beast" movie. young girl goes to work for a cold hearted man who is hated by the town. the towns people start losing their homes and they think it's him...but it's not, he is infact trying to help them secretly. he teaches her how to sing, she goes to a contest. and wins. while she is at the contest, the towns people get angry and beat him to death. They then find a journal he had been keeping of the things he helped them with.

  • Beauty and the beast was based on this story. the story is an ancient ittalian folk lore story. This is just one of it many versions made for eglish speaking people to understand better

  • Hehe, I keep thinking it's a Phantom of the Opera take-off. D:

  • God his voice is beautiful. I can listen to him all day long.

  • Rigoletto is one of my favorite childhood movies.

  • Wow, you really are lucky. I love the sound of his voice. God bless!

  • I always loved this song because of its message. It's beautiful, and so is his voice. I loved this movie as a child. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Comment removed

  • He lives in my ward so I get to hear him quite often. :)

  • Wait, what ward?

  • My church ward. Mountainview.

  • what does that mean? :S

  • lucky, I could listen to that man all day long.

  • i absolutely love his voice, this song gives me chills! I LOVE OPERA!

  • Is he a baritone or a tenor? My ears say high baritone but I dunno.

  • He's definitely a high bari. The note at 1:50 is an A flat. It sounds really high for him and since he is a high bari that is prob. the highest point of his register. Tenors can easily hit several notes above that. He's good, please don't misinterpret my answer to your question, I'm just saying his A flat sounds really high but only because he's a baritone. Great song though.

  • @chaseferrellmusic You're right, I'm a baritone/bass, and that A flat was one of the top couple notes in my register on most days. He's such a wonderful vocalist though :) (and i understood your comment :) )

  • He has an amazing voice. I love this movie. It touches my heart every time.

  • oh my gosh it's Hans...I love this movie...brings tears in my eyes too often than not.

  • I've seen the movie a million times and I still cry every time, so I completely understand.

  • i remember this!!!

  • they say the butler is better than him

  • Perhaps he is...perhaps he isnt. There is a massive back story to this movie.only parts of it revealed in the parts we see. The butler is from his kingdom...perhaps he can sing...but Rigoletto himself heals with his voice...

  • this proves never to judge a book by it's cover.

oh wow, he has such a beautiful voice (=

  • Joseph Paur is my second cousin. For real, no joke, no lie. I've met him; he has an astounding voice on film and in real life. He sang at my great-grandmother's funeral it was beautiful

  • That's awesome!! i've been trying to find out more information about Joseph Paur... But haven't found much on the internet. Has he done any more movies or recorded anything? I LOVE his voice!!

  • he's done a lot of little things...he played the sheriff in a movie called Split Infinity (where he doesn't sing) it was directed by his brother. You can find him on imbd...he's done a lot of work for the LDS church...and now he is living in Utah performing on stage. (he is my great uncle)

  • That's pretty sweet.

I love his voice. It's beautiful.

He was pretty good in The Testaments. :D

  • That is amazing! You are so lucky!!

  • :) I'm twenty two and this song is what inspired me to start singing! I was about 4 yrs old when I saw this for the first time and since then I've traveled the world with SWCDA, Elite Choir International, and several other choirs! I've also sang at Carnegie Hall!! This was a life changing movie for me, and the message that it sends is SO wonderful!! Absolutely beautiful!! This is STILL my favorite movie. THANK YOU Feature Films For Family's!!

  • I remember this movie i used to have it im going to search for it! This brings back memories

  • This is one of my favorite songs. It's beautiful. I'm slowly learning to play it on the piano :)

It's absolutely inspiring to study the lyrics. Michael McLean is an excellent song writer/composer!

  • Man, I gotta buy the dvd.

I absolutely love that movie, ever since I was a kid (I'm 24 now).

I promise I'm not gay btw lol.
