  • @ChrissieT01 Was Steve Green in there?

  • I was on this video, I was one of the New Life Singers with Bobby Jones!

  • 4:00 Jessy Dixon- Great Singer - RIP. :)

  • @rcarey19 I had no idea that Jessy died! Once I read your post, I googled, and it said that he was 73. I'm sorry to hear that. He had a really good voice. I think the note that he hit at 3:59 was as high as any of Sandi's notes! (like at 4:28) ;) Thank you for sharing about Jessy.

  • Here are the artists that sang from beginning to end: Amy Grant Amy Grant/Larry Norman Kathy Troccoli Russ Taff Evie Karlsson Phil Keaggy Scott Wesley Brown Scott Wesley Brown/Michele Pillar Michele Pillar Steve Camp Sandi Patti Russ Taff Dana Key Dana Key/Mylon LeFevre Mylon LeFevre Jessy Dixon Steve Taylor Matthew Ward Second Chapter of Acts Sheila Walsh Phil Keaggy
  • Phil Keaggy, Steve Taylor Dana Keys (Rest in peace Dana), Geoff Moore, Steve Camp, Sandi Patti, Mylon LaFerve.

  • WOW! I had heard that there had been a Christian version of USA For Africa but I had never the song or saw the video before now. Thanks for posting it.

  • I heard Matthew Ward and Second Chapter Of Acts but did not see them on the video.

  • Some great memories... and some great mullets :)

  • The We Are the World music video has over 12 million hits, and this video has under 5300 hits. What's wrong with this picture?

  • @Rawk4Life

Its probably because instead of Christians leading by example they were performing this well after we are the world when even heavy metal rockers like Ronnie James Dio had already done a song and an album for charity. You would think that Christians would have thought of this originally and the world would copy them but even still at that point Christian music was stifled by the church that wouldnt support it - just my opinion.

  • @finfranko Nowadays, that's not the case. The Church allows anything and everything in it, and it supports the so called "Christian Music of today". Therefore, there's no separation from the world at all. I guess that's why the Church has lost its power. Christ hasn't lost His power, but the Church has lost her power. There are no healings or deliverances. Let's bring in the lost and see their lives changed with the Blood of Christ. The Church s/b a place where we see people healed.

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr

So it's a sin to play certain musical chords?

    Which chords?

  • @Aphoresis I don't know WHAT you're talking about. Nobody said anything about musical chords. I know I didn't. This was and is a great song, and I've had it on video for ages.

  • You know why CCM didn't do this before USA for Africa? Because unlike secular artists, Christian musicians do charitable causes because it's pleasing to God. Secular artists do it to seek the praise of man.

  • @Rawk4Life I'm a Christian, but I must say...don't make the mistake of thinking that non-Christians do charity JUST because they want praise from men. There are many reasons to do charity and it's difficult to presume why someone is doing it. I bet a lot of Christians do charity for the praise of men too. That's why Jesus said don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.

  • What do you mean by Jesus saying "Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing?" That doesn't make sense. If the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, then something is wrong.

  • @Rawk4Life Matthew 6:3-4 "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Read all of Matthew 6 to get a comprehensive look.

  • @Rawk4Life and because CCM artists wouldn't have sold enough copies to cover recording costs. You can play a drinking game with this video - one shot every time a divorced person appears onscreen.

  • I am not calling you an idiot, but what you said was idiotic if you assume most CCM artists are currently divorced. Tell me this, can you name more than 5 musicians or artists in the secular market right now that are not Christian and are married living a happy, healthy, and drug free life? Christians aren't perfect, so don't make a mockery of them by assuming a majority of them have bad marriages.

  • @Rawk4Life Nothing.

  • No solo spot for Glenn Kaiser. What a tease!

  • We could easily substitute "Ethiopia" with "Haiti." It may not have the same rythmic qualities, but the message is as relevant today as it was in '85.

  • Haiti is on the island of Hispaniola......"Down in Hispaniola" doesn't sound that different from "Down in Ethiopa."

  • I remenber this song! My mom would bring the family together to practice this song for a chior, *sigh* those were the good old days... I love this song!

  • I was a DJ at Central Bible College when this came out. I also hosted the first "oldies" show ever because nobody keeps up on those who brought us the CCM we have today. OMG Larry Norman, Phil Keaggy, Evie(my heartthrob of the 70's), Russ Taff, SWB, 2nd Chap., etc.. Boy do we need a satelite station of just Christian oldies of the 70's thru the early 90's.This video brought back so much in jsut 5 minutes. PTL!!!!

  • I'll list all the ones I can recognize by watching the video, not necessarily because others listed them. Amy Grant, Larry Norman, Geoff Moore, Russ Taff, Phil Keaggy, Dana Key, Steve Camp, Sheila Walsh, Evie, Jesse Dixon, Sandi Patti, Mylon Lefevere, Kim Boyce, Glenn Kaiser, Steve Taylor, and Mike Stand(Altar Boys). I'm sure there are others that I didn't list, but that should help you out a little.

  • This is a nice song!

  • Also see Georgian Banov of Silverwind..I am pretty sure Betsy and Patty are there too. Miss Silverwind.

  • Yep. You have to pause and look, but during the first chorus at 1:51, there's a guy with dark hair just to the right of Geoff Moore in the back row. That's Rick Cua.

  • Praise the Lord. Have been looking for this.

  • OMG..i remember this..i see Amy Grant, Evie, Sandi Patti, Phill Keaggy, Russ Taff, Scott Wesley Brown, Sheila Walsh, Michelle Pillar, Kathy Trocolli, Michael Card and many more. wonderful upload. Thank you so much for this great upload.

  • I see Michelle Pillar; have all her tapes still! Thanks for the memories!

  • 2nd Chapter of Acts must not have been at the video shoot....

  • ...I see Phil Keaggy

Sure miss Larry Norman - he was a light.

    God bless 'em all

  • A bunch of us did a 'remake" of this video later one night... Good memories

  • I cannot view this video... It will not load ... Can you please let me know if I can get it some other way... I really want to see this

  • That was great to see that for the first time! I had an audio recording of this back in the 80's - but had never seen the video. I wonder why in the world Steve Green didn't have a solo? He was shown in the choir at the end.

  • I thought he did...
