Like a lot of people I have always thought these guys are totally underated. However when you read the comments on here about each song they did you soon realise they are not, and i`m glad that i`m not alone in owning quality music such as this.
this song was nice but too personalself | after it he started to keep away from music word....why? It was so sad? his voice was and he is great yet I'm sure ...It's only question to give to you and its some hot colors ! anew life ...come back talk!
on the majority of music videos on youtube, there is almost always an argument on how bad a song is. i find the fact there is hardly any of that about this song a testament to how beautiful and powerful it is. its been said many times before- i think talk talk are one of the most underated bands of all time
Words fail me how great this clip is and what a fantastic job you did, terminus, at 1)finding this Kovacs clip; and 2) synching it up with the song perfectly.
So, 2 questions for you: 1) which episode of the Ernie Kovacs show is this from and what was the original audio to it?
2) Did you edit and/or speed up/slow down any part of the video?
As for the song, what can one say: it's simply gorgeous...I had always liked Talk Talk from the get-go...but "Spirit of Eden" made me a fanatic.
Thanks! Now if I can convince everyone of the same thing with the Neanderthal Man Nairobi Trio videos I put up, then all would be good! Thanks for writing!
Such an inspired mix of visuals to music...this has to be one of my favourite pieces of music of all time...Mark sings with such passion and the moment the organ comes in at 2:48 gets me every time!
Les, I think they are the most under-rated band ever.
I've been following music closely for 30 years and have thousands of albums to listen to. Talk Talk are always the band I return to and this track is possibly their best ever. Sheer genius!
someone told me that bon jovi are better than talk talk,of course i told em to politley p..s off and talk to me when they understand music,i get hate mail from you tube bon jovi fans haha,oh yes its mr buster cheers people,
nothing, really. It is more I had the footage, and thought the music that was originally with it was kind of really bad/boring, so I tried it with different music for a different effect. Just an experiment, that is all!
One of my all-time favorite videos. Your editing is amazing. I love the way the sunrise kicks in with the bass, the transposition of the faces, the watery retreat at the end. I knew nothing about Ernie Kovacs before this. Never would have guessed you cobbled all this together from a skit on a televised comedy show. The long, smooth sweep to the skyline, the glazed looks on everyone but the blinking bum...like the song, they twist the heart. Great job.
Indeed--they were VERY under-rated in my estimation--in an era of now of "Boybands" etc. with very a very similar, safe format--(though not dismissing some of the genuinely lovely stuff!!)---this is something altogether different-- However,I'm pretty much one for emotive music as opposed to that dire "Birdie Song" ilk--lol!--and this has so much more appeal for me,being that much more "mature" in every way!
Impresionante, asombroso como se pueden transmitir sentimientos en una canción, con una guitarra, las imágenes son tristes, que mal que no entiendo el ingles, pero me llegan igual
Lots of noise that goes to difference place in my body and mind. Its a really inner-journey. Sometimes scary, sometimes sadness, sometimes happiness and hopefulness. All the way from the beginning to the end is a journey in feelings and emotion from the music and the powerful voice.
I dont see the video of non of the songs before, but I know the song and the group sins early or middle of the 80's, when I was a teenager. My favorite song is "Such a Shame" and it still my favorite!;) Other group I like is; Tears for Fears (who also has a couple of songs with much emotion in it) and Simple Minds (so Depeche Mode, U2, Eurythmics and so on).
Yes, other song are better than this. I like "Such a shame" as the best song ever. And the album "Its my life" is the best, and the album "The Colour of Spring" is the next best. I cant tell witch song is the best after "Such a shame"... Id like so many songs from this group and its one of my best favorite, and should wish they could make a come-back.
So what I mention about what I wrote, I could say the same about all songs written by Talk Talk. ;)
Wonderful video...there's a lot of symbolism to it with the song. I love how the 'crippled world' is shown with beggars and prostitutes waiting nearby....the "A time to sell yourself" with the fruit cart was icing on the cake. And every time people's faces are shown it's like they are thinking 'spirit' and 'how long?' Amazing.
Sadly, they do not, though Paul and Lee are rumored to be working on a new 'O'Rang album. Get all the news on Talk Talk from the leading fan site, Within Without (just Google it).
Always loved this song, Good work on the video remix.
