Im right handed, is it important to step through with the back leg (right)? My coach says i have to hit the ball and follow with like my hip and right leg, this feels really un-natural and uncomfortable. Do you have a video of how the feet should work just before, while, and after hitting the ball? thank would be really helpful. thanks
will, was it difficult when u had to pretend there was a picutre there when it was green screen the timing and stuff u r a really great coach for beginners
Just a small comment: when you are in an open stance position you have less arm swing so you will use more the shoulders rotation to generete power. In such a case the arm will not be totally extended. However the arm flowing across the body and the "checking time" wrist rotation (very good tip to describe it) will be present.
You're not following through. Remember to continue to swing the racquet after contact, turn over your wrist, and end with the racquet over your other shoulder and elbow facing the opposite court. Easier said than done!
Man, really fabulous lessons! Superb production values. I could never get this kind of an understanding of proper motion otherwise! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for pointing out the extension. Most people don't see that. I think the roll over follow through inhibits peoples ability to move forward though. I would like some explanation of why you have to do something that has no effect on the ball and inhibits your ability to move forward. Excuse me if I don't think Roddick's game is quite complete. I guess I prefer old school Pete Sampras. Who I believe gave it to Roddick when he was #7 in straights at us open. Roddick became #1 the next year.
Hey...when i tried to hit the ball first few times.......the ball had to be fetched from the nearby courts!!!!!.....i mean it takes a lot of practice n sweat to hit it like a decent shot....forget the pros......and just follow what this guy here said....
me too... I tend to do a windshield wiper motion... Creates good top spin! but shortens the shot and often just goes straight into the net... also loses a lot of power :( :(
I tend to slow my headspeed when im tired, putting my ball slow and long. no topspin. Need to tell myself just play the same with headspeed to put more topspin and power.
how to i give power too my forehand without making the ball go too high or too low, and my shots are not going where i aim them anymore,i think it's a good thing in a game when my shots go to the corner, but when i rally it goes crazy, i can't control my shot
Hah well I appreciate the compliment. However, nothing replaces an in-person coach. You need someone analyzing your game and offering immediate feedback.
Topspin! It sounds like you are hitting too flat. Search for "creating topspin on your forehand." That video might help you. Make sure to watch it in high definition!
@BloopV my coach back in the day also travels on the atp tour and a rule he taught us was....of coarse top spin is the way to hit the ball with more pace with out worrying that it will go in the net and out the baseline, but the thing is you have to keep the ball high. when the players practice on tour they only sometimes have one ball on court. they keep the ball high with allot of top spin. about 2 meters above the net is sufficient
Thank you so much for these videos. I'm an absolute beginner in Tennis and this stuff is priceless, even more since, evidently, you have spent time on them as their quality and production are great. Thanks again.
You are just great. All your lessons have improved my game 100%. My forehand has always been my week point and thanks to you, it has gotten so much better. Thanks and keep making more!!!!
I wonder what to do with our feet in this step ??????

does the arm have to stay straight during the whole follow through or is it ok to be bent at the elbow?

thanx a lot for these vids. it really worked, my forehand is a lot worse then my backhand, and now I think I know why.
There is only one thing: it would have helped me even more when u add a short summary of the step before the next step

in the ww fh video you said that you think of ur fh as if u are trying to hit the ball with the frame...

Ya that's true. This is a "classic" forehand - you swing through the ball much more than you do on a WW.
