  • as far as i know, Gordon Parsons who wrote the song is Australian born, as when i met him twenty odd years ago he didn't have a trace of an Irish Accent...

  • Very nice. some info on the song itself...Written by Dan Sheahan, later slightly changed by Gordon Parsons, and sung by the one and only Slim Dusty. Written about a pub in Ingham, Nth Qld (Day Dawn Hotel, now the Lee's Hotel)
