Lucky mate: What a way to go out!!! U went out in a cloud of dust...Glad you came out OK buddy... I have been flying 30 years now and so far so good, no Accidents or incidents. Never say never.....My number one priority is and and has always been SAFETY first. By the way I learned to fly on the very same helicopter (TH-55 / Sweitzer 300 (spelling))
-Hello, AceRentals? -it's me ol'DennisKenyon, -been flying choppers for a 1/2-century now since age-27, this morning rented couple of shiny new Schweizer/300-CBi Copters from you? --Ah well, you can come get one of'em now; yep sitting right here keys still in it, --BTW, did i check the insurance-box? -Oh good! --No no, i'm just fine, but it needs some work, --maybe bring along a 'dust-pan & broom'...!!! And now to my loyal Fans standing in the bleachers, jaws agape, --for my next trick....
I've always wondered... why do reporters use unimportant, or assumed words in their broadcast? "...when the chopper UNEXPECTEDLY crashed." What? He didn't mean to crash it? Ah well, at any rate, glad he was largely uninjured. I just hope he purchased insurance on his rental!
It was very hot and the airfield was high up. The air was less dense than normal. He added 50 feet onto all of the heights required during the display but got caught up in the excitement of the display and went back to normal operation and the result is as seen. another 15 feet and he would have skimmed the ground not smashed into it. A great advert for the helicopter though. built to be crash resistant and I think it proved itself worthy.
I feel morbid even though I'm an A+P and I always want to know " what happenned?" This was a dumb accident. No doubt density altitude played a big part, but the guy was too low throughout that maneuver.
Dennis Kenyon is my father from his first marriage. My mum and myself found my brother (Dennis's first son) suddenly passed away in his bed 8 Aug 08. Dennis did not even say sorry when I told him, he did not attend the funeral, didn't send a card, no flowers, no donation. How can this man be so heartless when our whole family is in bits???? My brother was the kindest and most genuine person you could meet, we love him and miss him so much.

I understand perfect your action, Sue! You want to vent to people your frustration about someone that is just receiving the laurels from others without exposing the complete persona. You want to go in the middle of those idolater that think life is made of disconnected events and say ´hey, this guy has been a jerk in our lives, dont think all that about him just because some stupid helicopter maneuvers`. When people tell you that ´you shouldnt` tell them ´yeah, right!`.
Every one has a bad day in life. What would we say for our day when it comes?
Dennis, you made it out of the accident, congratulations.

300 were not meant to be looped like that. It appears that one of teh advancing blades collappsed as he came near the bottom of his loop.
There is a saying amomngst Helicopter pilots. There are old pilots and bold pilots , but no old bold pilots. safety at all times.

That's why the Airwolf production staff didn't use a 300C for their helicopter.

Density altitude bit him. He wrecked someone else's helicopter. I heard there was quite the dispute over who should pay and he bailed.

Hm. Anyone know the difference between a wingover and hammerhead ("stall-turn")? Or is the latter a variant of the former?
