@HnEhonda X series is higher sound quality, and stays high at high levels. R series is straight banging, but not as much sound quality as the X and even less at high levels. Both can play just as loud, but depends what you are in the market for. My X plays all different types of music clean and solid and precise compared to alot of other systems.
If you have the amps for it, I don't see any problem with 1000WRMS, and if you have cash for a pair of type X's you have cash for a decent radio so that you can adjust the power sent to the subs ;)

I have matched my dual type R's running 1000w RMS each to em, against 2 type X's running the same wattage, and My Tens were unreal. Type X has lower bass, but it kept missing, mine hit hard and on the right time.
@sk8erandp8er, depends on what your doing... SPL or SQ? If your looking for SPL or just getting loud the Type-R is where it's at. If your looking for sound quality and have $ to burn for an alternator, batteries, fat copper runs and a powerful amp, the Type-X is what you want.

But with ported and unported, its like some people like chevs and some like ford, depends on your taste. If you build a bigger sealed box, you will need a bigger amp. sealed sounds good, but they also require more power to run them.

tens hit really high bass. the bigger the sub the lower the bass dumbass. my tens make your ears bleed because it hits such amazing highs. my buddys 15's make breathing hard because the bass is so low

true, the 10 will hit faster becouse the 12 has more surface area thus the "Voice Coil" having to move a larger area faster and which also causes the assembly to heat up faster becouse its having to move much more space, im not saying you shouldnt buy the 12" but im just trying to answer your question as best as i can becouse im only 16 and have been into car audio since i was about 12.
Yes, the 10 will hit faster. It more or less depends on the music you listen to. A 12 will hit lower notes and be louder with the same power. A ten will be more accurate for fast drum beats or something similar. My personal choice would be the 12. Because to me the 12 is fast enough already.
yepp and dont forget the power of magnet, if magnet is powerfull in 12" it will hit as fast as 10" =) but 10" still more accurate, 12" more lower notes... both got those negative/positive things..

don't mount your subs to the box. You take a huge chance messing up the insides of your amp when you mount them on the box. The vibration of bass starts to make things come loose or break.
i ahd meant don't mount the amp to the box. Thats also untrue. Even if you got a rockford t4000 mounted to a box it will shake the insides. It is in owners manual not to do it. It is common sense
amps dont matter at all when it comes to stereos it all matters on the box trust me i learned this from da pros if ya want proof type in youtube prototype phase box and see the results

First of all, let me start ofw/ nice car. I like your setup alot, however, you can get alot more movement from those subs. That Hifonics amp dont actually produce 2000 CLEAN watts, do ur getting the excursion you could. try getting a bigger amp, if you want deeper, cleaner bass. You still have a very nice set-up, but if you have the money try it.

first of all, alpine quality doesn't even compare to jl.and second of all i have seen people putting 2000 watts to a jl w 7. the alpines might go louder, but thats where it stays. 200$ subs do not compare to 600$ subs. even though jl is over priced. im dont like either jl or alpine, so im not biased.
My friend has a 2002 VW Jetta and had two Alpine 12" Type Xs.. with two 1200.1 JBL amps and they weren't loud at all. I have 1 12" JLW6 with a 500.1 JL amp and my car is actually louder. It may be the fact I have a hatchback and he had a sealed trunk, but I just think it had to do with the Type x's suking ass!

alpines just dont sound right to me.not the sq i like,and the spl isnt that BA.i hit 138 decibels with a fosgate p1 15".no alpine ive ever seen has beaten that.

don't mount your subs to the box. You take a huge chance messing up the insides of your amp when you mount them on the box. The vibration of bass starts to make things come loose or break.

not if you have a quality amp, but mounting amps to the box makes it that much easier to get robbed.

i ahd meant don't mount the amp to the box. Thats also untrue. Even if you got a rockford t4000 mounted to a box it will shake the insides. It is in owners manual not to do it. It is common sense

hey kinda random... i got two 12" R's with a real nice sloted box and the MRD-M1000 amp.. also wired my car with monster cable and put in boston/ eclipse speakers... but the head unit i have is a higher end sony... that came with my car.. should i replace asap or can i hold it off?

REPLACE!!!! iv got heaps of sony gear(phone, cenima amplifier, bluray player, cd player, digital reciver etc) And its all awesome but i would NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a sony car product. For middle of the road stuff alpine and especially pioneer in headunits SLAUGHTER them. A Great Value For Money QUALITY Headunit Is A Pioneer deh-p80rs And It wont cost a fortune, Also I speak From expirience ...Pioneer Build Better Headunits Than Alpine, But Alpine KILL Pioneer For Speakers, Amps and Subs.

im not so hot on the box, definatly not big enough for 2000 watts RMS.. i would think about getting a bigger box. but it is a sweet setup and i bet is still loud as shit!

First of all, let me start ofw/ nice car. I like your setup alot, however, you can get alot more movement from those subs. That Hifonics amp dont actually produce 2000 CLEAN watts, do ur getting the excursion you could. try getting a bigger amp, if you want deeper, cleaner bass. You still have a very nice set-up, but if you have the money try it.

type x's are cool, iv got 2 12" my self in a double sealed box with 2 mrd 1001 mono amps,1 to power each sub but i cant get them to sound great , should i get a big power cap or a bigger box???? or ported box??

You'll get a lot more sound with a ported box, but the low notes don't hit quite as hard. Still well worth it in my opinion.
The best way i've found to tune my type x's (on a single hifonics 2006d) bass boost ~ 20%, gain 90%.. very little distortion, very impressive bass.

Alpine>JL Audio.. second of all.. ive seen 2 type R's hit 153.3 db's.. type r's.. not type x... those 2 type r's blew away 3 15" L7's..the W7 is nice yes.. but has no where NEAR the SQ at a high SPL as the alpines can preduce.. why do i want ot buy a speaker that hass replaceble parts..plus can can over power the SHIT outta alpines... looka t some videos.. R's rated at 500rms getting 800-1100.. u can put 2000rms to the type x.. can u w/ a w7?NO

first of all, alpine quality doesn't even compare to jl.and second of all i have seen people putting 2000 watts to a jl w 7. the alpines might go louder, but thats where it stays. 200$ subs do not compare to 600$ subs. even though jl is over priced. im dont like either jl or alpine, so im not biased.

My friend has a 2002 VW Jetta and had two Alpine 12" Type Xs.. with two 1200.1 JBL amps and they weren't loud at all. I have 1 12" JLW6 with a 500.1 JL amp and my car is actually louder. It may be the fact I have a hatchback and he had a sealed trunk, but I just think it had to do with the Type x's suking ass!
