I believe that Bart workers should earn a fair wage, I do, but 60-70K per year entry level is what they are honestly making, which I find extremely unfair to other taxpayers. I work 60 hours a week in a high stress environment for $40K out of school with a business degree and am facing layoffs. Fair?

There is the union employees( going on strike) and the Management employees that work directly with BART (they make the BIG bucks )and are not willing to sacrifice their end of the year bonuses but want the Union employees that make around 55,000-65,00 a year to sacrifice on their end. Employees under the union are not asking for more they just want to keep what BART has been giving them for the past 35 years. BART management Employees do make $ 115-150,000 a year (they work directly with BART and make the big bucks, which means they are not under a union.

BART union Employees do not even get near $115,000 amount. Their union is striking because BART wants them to pay for their medical insurance and remove their retirement plan. They are NOT asking for 3% raise, they are asking to keep their 3% cola that they deserve as government employees.

I live in Philadelphia, our transit system is SEPTA, there employees make less than in the bay area, trasit employees here are always involved in wage disputes and are currently not with a contract, and it was recently revealed that SEPTA has the highest rate of employee dissability claims of any transit company in America. In a city like Frisco where the average income is about 55k, in Philly the average is about 39k or a slightly higher, in Philly the transit company recieves local -

SamariaTV, my wife is a member of WGAw and at her peak she was in the top 5% of money earners. That's pretty sad considering she was a bit better than $115,000/year.The reality was that 90% of WGA make less than $5,000/year and that 80% didn't even work.I'm guessing SAG & AFTRA are pretty much the same.Doesn't make it right or wrong.But that's also a problem for those unions when you have 80% voting on contracts for 20% who work.

The job of the Union is to get everything it can for the Union members.

The Union is not there to make sure everyone loves BART workers, nor is it the job of the Union to worry that non-Union workers also get a pay raise equal to the Union rate.

at 115K for each Union member it sounds like to me that the Union is doing a GREAT job!
