Scary that an object big enough to vapourise the pacific could hit Jupiter undetected until after the event. I wonder what out there has our name on it?
Congratulations to Masayuki Tachikawa and Aoki Kazuo for imaging yet ANOTHER impact on Jupiter on August 20, 2010 UT. You guys keep the party going "like it's 1994"!
Congratulations to Anthony "Bird" Wesley for discovering yet ANOTHER impact on Jupiter AS IT HAPPENED on June 3, 2010, and to Christopher Go for his confirming observations. Thanks to you, we're still partying "like it's 1994"!
I thought all science geeks were nerdy, but I guess Kelly proves me wrong.. wow! what a voice, and stunningly beautiful as well. I like your tune better than the symbol >-} 'formerly known as prince' Ha Ha ! awaiting your next clip.
That's right! It is a gas planet, so rather than making a crater, the object that hit Jupiter left a bunch of material in the atmosphere, which was then dispersed by winds.
There is no "they." This was a naturally-occurring event that gives us a chance to understand better the processes that restore and maintain the composition and thermal structure of Jupiter's atmosphere. -- ScienceTim
My favorite Minnesota pop star mashed up with the world's coolest singing scientist! Great video. Can't wait to share it with the Our Fair City's all girl robotics team.
What is the significance of the impacts?

Hate to be an annoying detail picker, but I am, I'm not a fun person to watch movies with.
Two thousand zero nine would make it 200009. Should have been twenty zero nine.
