The mathematical description isn't sexist/misogynistic because it applies to all relationships. This song is a funny take on all the dramatic descriptions of soul mates and 'how can i live without you?' stuff. However, the 'neck-down alopecia' line is sexist/misogynistic - although tongue in cheek - because it hangs upon the social control over women, their bodies and the way they perform gender in this culture. Read some books.
Finding this song sexist is in itself sexist. Assuming that as a man, he is only referring to the men's half of a relationship shows a bias in the viewers perception.

The mathematical description isn't sexist/misogynistic because it applies to all relationships. This song is a funny take on all the dramatic descriptions of soul mates and 'how can i live without you?' stuff. However, the 'neck-down alopecia' line is sexist/misogynistic - although tongue in cheek - because it hangs upon the social control over women, their bodies and the way they perform gender in this culture. Read some books.

I think Tim would get a kick out of reading all these comments, and find it extremely funny to see people argue over the *hidden* meaning in this song.
You can say a lot about Tim, but his texts are more blunt than a sledge hammer, and trying to find a hidden meaning in them sure does take some wicked dillusions, or pills.

Most have probably heard of him but if you really take the time to hear every lyric he'll blow your mind, and he's friends with Tim : P For a taste of his lyricism start with "Words Words Words" and make sure you know who "Oedipus" it'll help! As a women and a fan and follower of Tim Minchin's work, I must say that I never in a million thought that feminists would find offense to a song that was not intended to be sexist, but for all men and women to realize simply this... We have but only ONE life and [honestly, factually, logically, rationally] if you were not with the person you are with you would MOST LIKELY be with someone else, BUT everyday you make a choice to be with them. I find beauty in it's simplicity!

Not so. Most of the strides women have made are the results of the efforts of feminists to cause those strides to be. However, there are, as there are in any group, excessively sensitive feminists who see anything vaguely male as by definition anti-female.
