Basically they originated as 12, but then a 13th member joined.

Then they began to create sub-groups from the original group, one of which was Super Junior-M, to which was added another 2 members.

These two extra members mainly participate in Super Junior-M activities.

Now, the reason why members from the original 13 aren't there is because 2 are participating in mandatory army service. One is focusing on...

@16beachrose ... filming for drama, which, unfortunately, overlapped with A-CHa promotions. And finally, the last member is not there due a law suit he placed against SMEnt due to unfair treatment to his behalf. For this reason, he has left the group and is focusing on a solo career.

Some time ago, there was a rumour about him rejoining SMEnt under another contract, but nothing new or even slightly recent has been commented upon this.

@laajsakitty Siwon was filming Poseidon and it had overlaped Super Junior’s A-cha promotions, so he concentrated on his acting first. At least he won’t be killing himself going back and forth.
