umm actually you are. This program is a live disk. The computer boots to the disk NOT windows. And windows is the most common operating system in the world so obviously, its not the worse.

My main operating system is either Backtrack, OpenSUSE or Ubuntu 8.10LTS.

I use Linux for programming more than anything, and my windows machine is mainly for C# programming.

Because Mono sucks for Linux.

yes download sun xVM VirtualBox. then down load ubuntu linux latest version. after u downloaded both run xvm then ubuntu. go to snaptics retrieve the program u want to use. Linux kicks but! And its all enu free software better and more secure than windows will ever be!

how did you get your aireplay to generate that much traffic? My aireplay goes slow =( please message me if i can change the buffer size or something

you can actually deauthenticate the clients from the AP, causing them to reconnect. that will give you some good traffic. i dont know off the top of my head what aircrack tool does that but there is one i think. i use kismac myself

you dont put backtrack on any operating sysem. back track is the operating system. there is no compatibility with any os. put files on USB flash drive. and set your bios to boot off of the USB drive. when you get boot menu hit [tab] then enter. login as

user; root

pass; toor

allow to load

then have a grand ol' time cracking your neighbors wep internet connection. there are tutorials all over the web for different strategies find one that best suites your liking and good luck to all.

Just keep it on a live cd unless you want to do a dual boot. Better yet. Just go with a good linux distro and import the tools you need.

petlover- backtrack is a live linux distrobution. put files on flash drive and boot off your usb drive. you may need to change the setting in your bios then boot your system.

when you get the screen that asks what you want to do. hit the tab key then enter. when it asks for a user and password. type

root

startx

let it load and you can begin the fun from there

abort it with ctrl+z as soon as it prints the information about your target.

1 hour is somewhat normal. it really depends on how much traffic the wireless access point it generating. the more traffic, the faster it acquires the initialization vectors needed to break the key.

from 2 minutes to 3 hours, it depends if the ap you are trying to crack is being used or if you are far from it

you only need around 28000 iv's to crack the wep key? is that enough for a 64 bits key? good tutorial, i needed 250000 to crack a key, but it worked :P
