damit why why have you taken so long..you were the best! your explanations are so simple exact and precise to the point of the technique! I hope your dvd gets the attention it should. you probably don't remember me,,I been doing judo for 40 years and I started at shiina's japan judo in Brooklyn. Al lopez
I am going to show this move to the other students in my judo class at college. We need to teach a move to the other students, so thank you for the example, it was easy to understand and I feel like I won't have any difficulty to execute it from now on.
You are one of the best Senseis I have ever heard teaching a class. You are very clear and articulate, and much better at explaining things than my own Sensei.
when you talk about using small and large hand circles (brilliant idea! btw) can you use a large circle but use a faster, more crisp sweep instead of a wide one?
I have the honor of training with nogaki sensei and knowcthatbthis video of instruction to be his usual practice of describing perfectly why how and what technique is, a truly remarkable gentleman, if you ever get the opportunity to train with him, take it.
It's one of those basic techniques every judoka should know. You can use it to distract the opponent & prepare another throw so it's great you guys get a wonderful instruction like this.
Tbh I love the version when you step to the left and drag your opponent around you in a quarter circle.
@judokatenis Ya hay cientos de videos que lo "hacen", pero muchas veces con eso no es suficiente ;-) Tanto para aprender como para mejorar, también viene bien la explicación ;-)
Nice emphasis on the fine points :-)

@wtfasiankid8o8 , you can as long as the timing of your feet and hands are in in sync for proper execution of the throw.

@judokatenis Esto es bien irrespetuoso de tu parte, la forma en que se esta explicando es increiblemente util.

I'm fairly new to judo and I have a basic question: is De Ashi Barai the same thing as De Ashi Harai?
klowmdf 2 years ago 2
Yes, when most Japanese words that start with an "H" have another word preceding it, the "H" is usually is pronounce as a "B".

Excellent instruction.
I love de-ashi-harai, especially because it can be used on either side, no matter which foot your opponent leads.
