Im going to join up tomarrow at the fox valley squadron in the illinois wing cant wait!! can someoe let me know what its like your first time>!! thanks ur soon to be fellow cadet- ryan
see, our squadron doenst have the money to have a firing range, not even o-flights. So basically, all of the cadets in my unit have yet to recieve an o-flight.
Money for O-rides comes from National through your Region and Wing. Your Commander probably has contacts at the Wing level to address funding for Cadet O-rides.
Nice! You know I have to be honest with you guys, at first I thought CAP was for wussies. But now...man you guys really do kick ass! You know which group stinks the most (not a lot, but stinky in comparison to the other cadet units)? The Young Marines. lol they all seem out of shape.
They don't scream at you as if they are seargents do they? I mean they arn't as strict as AirForce, atleast i hope so, im thinking about joining this.
Uh ... does C.A.P even have firing ranges because I'm in the Moody AFB squadron and we're like the best in all of Georgia and we don't have one and I've asked and I've heard they don't exist . If in fact you guys do please visit my page and leave a comment telling me what squadron your in and your rank .
Nice video... I love the music. It showed a lot of aspects and opportunities of CAP. Great job. Check out the CAP promotional video I made on my channel. Let me know what you think of it.
To get in CAP? There is no PT test. For ranks and certain NCSA's, yes. For ranks, it usually consists of (at my squadron, it may be different from squadron to squadron) a mile run, pushups, situps, and shuttle runs. I dunno what the NCSA requirements are. I do know that PJOC has one, though I don't know the exact requirements.
Arkansasboi33, Ahamilton93 is correct. You can either run the shuttle (back and forth fast) or a mile in the amount of time given. It varies based on your age and the rank you're trying to get promoted to. The first one is for Airman (1st stripe), and as a 16 year old male, I had to do a mile in 8:37 (I know, very easy (for now)), at least 17 push-ups without stopping, and 24 situps in a minute... The tests do get harder as you work up. Check out CAP for yourself... you'll love it.
No, not at all. For males all u have to do is run a mile under 9 mins and be able to do 25 push-ups and 40 sit-ups. Its pretty easy at first. However, when you become an officer or go to PJOC it becomes harder. Just run, do push-ups, sprints, pull-ups, and ab work-outs at least 3 times a week and unless ur severely out of shape it won't be hard.
You need to pass a PT test to rank , but if you don't think you can run a mile or you can;t fit into BDUs then you shouldn't join , I'm not the skinniest either but seriously 1 mile is nothing
Yes! CAP is awesome! I'm currently an Airman...or maybe A1C...I'm not sure. I was gone for quite a while, so they may have forgotten to promote me. Either way, I love it, and I hope to go to some NCSA's this year, or staff my 2nd encampment.
Keep the good work all. I've been in Cap now for 11 years, i still love it. i started in the cadet program and turned over to senior when i hit 21.. Rock On To all Cadets and Senior Officers alike...
is it mandatory that you have to repel down a wall or is it optional and how old do you have to be for the firing range and is there alot of scary height activities?
NO you do not have to repel down a wall if you don't want to though it is fun. Ussaully CAP doesn't do things with live fire weapons. No you do not have to do scary height activities
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
cappers... Sea Cadets kick your guy's ass. haha, they even dont know to salute a navy ADMIRAL. Come on guys. Nor did they salute my xo or mid-shipman. if you even know what those ranks are.

civil air patrol does lots of different things in 3 catagories:
#1. Aerospace education
#2. Emergency services
and #3. Cadet programs.
it's fun to be in cap, i'm an airman and i've been in for a few months, you get to go on orientation flights in gliders and piston-driven aircraft, you get to train for and go on missipos such as SAR, ELT searches, etc. once you have your GES 101 card. you also get to wear BDU and blues uniforms.
Im thinking about joining i got some friends to see to,is it like military school? What do you do?if you do stuff to protect america than i might even more join cause i don't like terrorist,i don't think anybody does...
This is an awesome program. I started here when I was 12 or so. Now after being in the military, I came back to share what I know know with the cadets that are striving to become all they can. Starting here is the best way to get a start on your future.
I see they gave you the whole dollar tour at Nellis. Enjoy your stay?
Heheh, my buddy and I were playin' around at the TTF one time; doing the enemy soldiers bit with the AAA guns, we were shouting "Fire" & stuff in Russian. At the 88mm gun, some TSgt came over and shushed us. Some general was getting a tour there it turns out, LOL.
We are apart of the USAF and also in Coop. with US Dept of HLS (Homeland Security). You can learn to fly with a CAP instructor whom teaches you for free, however the rates that you have to pay for the aircraft which are the Cessna 172-182 varry, and im not positive right now since they changed them I think its 30$ per hr for the 172 and 41$ per hr for the 182 and you have to pay for fuel which adds up somewhere around 2000$ to get your solo!
Hey, I'm considering getting my solo here shortly so I've been talking to alot of our pilots. Anyway, you get five free O-Flights, and then you pay about $70-80 per flight afterwards. It is an absolute steal compared to other flying schools where it's 150+ per flight.
The only things these kids are rich on is the desire and committment to improve themselves. When they go to an airshow in uniform, most of the pilots will tell them, "This is how I started"
Why is my wing so boring. We never do anything involving weapons of anytype. It is pissing me off. No kind of combat anything. I need to move to california wing then.
this is not just about the Nevada Wing Encampment, it has pictures from that as well as HI-009 and the Arkansas Wing Encampment. And no, the Arkansas one was not super easy. All encampments are easy, but the Arkanasas one wasn't really bad.
by no means what so ever (unless you're a marine or something) are all encampments easy! Just look at your nieborghs to the west in California! Minnesota also has tough one. Some are easy, but the harder core are out there!
why are you guys talking about NVWG when this about Arkansas? btw, doesn't arkansas have one of the easiest encampments in the nation? For the most part it's just aerospace isn't it?
