  • Lol very funny

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • It's wonderful to be able to see Dave again on YouTube!! Wonderful racconteur.. and very much missed.

  • Somany of today's so-called comedians today should view his shows and learn something. The man was an absolute master of his craft,a total joy to watch.

"Thank you, goodnight and may your god go with you".

  • Frankie Boyle is not fit to clean this man's shoes.

  • smoking > no smoking

  • he is the best! I never tire of his shows!

  • in responce to the question did he really lose his finger

what really happened was he was born with a penis shaped finger with what appeared to be a swollen bell end

the irish govt and the church realised the implications...

steps were taken which are stioll classified under p.s.i.a.

    paddy secret information acts

introduce , by coincence 4 years earlier by a shadowy minister called ghoule o toole

  • I miss people smoking and drinkin on television!

  • Does anyone know where I can find a sketch of his about a voice controlled house?

  • Brilliant!

  • Probably the greatest storyteller who ever lived. A true comedy genius and greatly missed.

  • He looks like a young Alex Higgins here. Fantastic comedian by the way.

  • Waoow---Dave Allen--he was a favorite of mine

in the 70´s and the 80´s

  • How cool is he! He just sits there and entraces the audience without lights and special effects and sillyness.

  • Nice... that's a great explanation of the phenomenon called 'the sensed presence'!

  • Chris rock couldn't rob that gem without evidence. He tried wit the rest, The finest engager into a story that I can rememmber. Puts the actors, like Jacobi, to shame,

  • so classy.....

  • perhaps its not politically correct anymore but the funniest he did was the dichotomy of his dad being catholic and his mum being protestant, He said that he used to pray every night that she doesn't go to hell;;;;;;;;;;until she hit him for doing something naughty. 'That's right---you keep hitting me;;;;cos you know where you;re going?

  • I'm guessing it was because he slept on his arm and with him being tierd and all and his brain hadn't really started he freaked out and bit it off.. ITS SO A LIE BUT A DAMNED GOOD ONE! :D

  • A true Irishman with the "gift of the gab" - LOVED him!

  • Yup; I am that-old :)

  • My favorite way he told of loosing his finger was he kept stirring his glass of scoth on stage and it just desolved away - LOL!!!!

  • well he said sometime that the finger wore off wiping dust off his suit :)

  • Fantastic voice.. You can listen to it for hours..

  • never seen him that young. always loved his humour

  • Nice twist

  • Ron White, an american comedian, Rose to fame as one of the 4 in the Blue Collar Comedy shows, is a nod to the Dave Allen comedic story telling technique....right down the glass of scotch and lit cigarette! Just search Ron White - Airplane.....hilarious!!

  • Don't know about the finger but his father amputated his own toes, after they became trapped in a lift door. In casualty, the nurse who treated him was so impressed with his composure she married him. Thanks to that lift door.

  • "effin' brilliant!!

Someone mentioned nobody has followed his style??

    Two words : Ron White.......

  • @globalpilot76 who ?

  • He was the best! May your God Bless you. , Rest in peace my favorite comic! No one can ever replace you!

  • he was one of the great story-tellers

  • haha old but good fashon Comedy !

  • A genius. He's always there in the background and he pops up in my memory every now and then. No one has followed his style. Much missed.

  • i thought he was going to say that it was a cat, and that is why the man had unusual marks on his throat. still very funny

  • I still laugh out loud even though I know whats coming. I would have loved to hear him reading something like Dickens Christmas Carol. A master of story telling.

  • As to losing his finger, I prefer the one where he use to drink his whiskey with his index finger inside the glass. Also enjoyed the one when he explained how he directed the cameras with his posture and with a gesture someone would replace his glass with a full one. Havn't seen him for years! Show more!

  • I know.

  • Comment removed

  • what epic story telling so wonderful,so irish...

    thank you dave.

  • His delivery of a joke, or story is legendary.

  • so true, the way he draws you into the story then suddenly delivers the punch line to you is pure genius.

  • I so love this guy - grew up with him....

Hence my warped sense of humor lol

  • genius!

  • And may your god go with you

  • saw this in tv many many years ago.

thx. for posting this great stuff of a real

    great artist.

  • hahaha!

  • Saturday night 9.30 after the news "the dave allen show" a ritual in our house and always histerical.

  • i really wished i could of seen him live, i've only recently heard of him n he must have been years before his time

  • Classic!

    Thanx, m8...

  • funney

  • You're as pissed as a fart

    What is a pissed fart

what does a pissed fart look like

how can a fart get pissed

    lol love it

  • How did he really lose his finger?

  • No one knows for sure.

  • nope wrong he admitted that he lost it in a cog

  • He "admitted" to several different ways of losing it- all of them fairly plausible. He supposedly would not even tell his own son which was the real story.

  • Hmm, he also "admitted" that his father chopped it off! I wonder if he knew himself at the end!

  • yea tol so many stories probly forgot himself lmfao

    R.I.P. Dave Allen

  • @femaleanimal Another one was the during a game of Cowboys and Indians as a boy, he had a sawed-off shotgun.

  • @buddyholly1958 Ironically, he reminds me of the Joker in the Batman film- gives everybody a different story about his permanent smile injury. A master story teller. Very few comics can do this' Old school- Les Dawson-Ronnie Corbett in their own ways, perhaps but not nearly as good.

  • @johnanthonyp thinking the exact same thing.

  • @alijaan16 I remember in one show - he hinted he lost it by stirring his drinks w/it (whiskey, I presume) :)

  • Hes a great storyteller as well as comedian

  • I can remember watching this as a young kid, but forget the punchline, hehe so funny

  • you have excellent memory, sir.

  • OMg hahahahaha his so like totaly cool!!! :P

  • a great irishman

  • Rip Uncle Dave!x

  • No one will ever come close - great xx

  • rip

  • Great comedian and storyteller.

  • what a story teller,funny ass shit.

  • Great comedian he was!

  • I rememember one of Dave's gags that went something like this:

A fellow came up to me the other day in the street and said, "Hey, are you the guy with half a finger?" and I answered "No, you must be looking for someone else - I'm the guy with nine and a half fingers."

  • Jajaja awesome.

  • I remember this too, and he had several stories about how he lost his finger. Huddled around our old St.Michael's set in Cardiff in the sixties, Dave Allen was one of the many great entertainers we would love to watch. RIP Dave!

  • I remember this so well as a teenager, watching this with my mum...loved him and his funny finger

  • Comic genius - a natural raconteur and funny, funny man.

  • He alway's told different stories as to how he lost his finger.. From his father accidently chopping it off with a hatchet to the butcher one already mentioned. I too saw him years ago at The Adelphi theatre in london. I can still remember how much my sides hurt as we left the building.. There's never really been anyone to replace him..

    great to find him here...

    More please..

  • Is that really how he lost his finger!? :)

  • He used to be a butcher... Let's just say that his customer got more meat than he/she bargained for ;o)

  • An absolute master of his craft. Nobody to equal him today anymore then anyone could then.

He is missed. Greatly. Thank you so much for posting.

  • I remember when I first saw him telling this story and I am so pleased that I have found it today. Thanks for posting it!! One of best stories told. I was lucky enough to have seen Dave Allen live on stage many years ago. To me he was one of the very best , along side Billy Connolly.

  • Oh how I love him! Does anyone have the sketch called Dracula's Curse? That is my favourite of all time :))

  • We miss him so much. Unforgetable.

  • i am 15 and it used to be on on a friday night when i was about 12 or 11 i thought it was hilarious then and i do now.

  • 3 years ago?LOL

  • yeah, they were repeats.

  • i am 14 and i find this realy funney

  • i am 49 and i think it's funny !

  • i miss this show. this was on boston tv for a short time in the late 70's

  • lawl

  • Dave Allen was Ace!!

  • We used to watch Dave Allen in Rhodesia - a series where he "sent up" religions and many other things. Does anyone have videos of any of his TV shows? What was the cause of his death? This is so sad.

  • there are dvds of his out, we've got one not sure the name, but its excellent

  • He died in his sleep, aged 68

  • he died in his sleep...they say peacefully I believe he was 68.

  • Thank you for posting Dave Allen---I used to watch it nightly....

  • Great to see this. I loved to watch Dave Allen and I remember it well. It was all the funnier because he'd been being asked for ages what happened to his finger, and here is where he finally told us.

  • Loved this man growing up...remember being transfixed by his half-an-index-finger on his left hand.

  • Thank you, this is great.

I even remembered this part from over 20 years ago!

( when I think of Dave Allen I think of this story)

    and I laughed again.

  • Dave was a very funny man he could tell jokes about everyday life. He had a great accent too.

  • Ahhhhh what memories. I live in the U.S now and humor just isn't the same...

  • Brilliant comedian

  • Middle of the night... sick as hell.. can't sleep.. fever from hell.. and this guy can STILL make ya laugh.

  • not the best joke in the world, but he delivers it so well...

  • The Godfather of 'Brit' alternative comedy. He had everything going for him: the look, the voice, the erudition... A once-in-a-lietime... Genius - as far as comedy is concerned.

  • One of the great storytellers

  • Rofl, the ending <33.

  • Thanks for posting, He was great.

  • OMG I remember that very joke / story from his show when I first saw it maybe 25 or more years ago. Wow the memories.

  • So good to see this stuff again!!! Thanks!!!

  • Is Mr. Allen still alive ???

  • Sadly, no. He died in March 2005.

  • ROFL Excellent Storyteller, Excellent Comedian.

  • he tells it so well!

  • Now that's comedy! Hope to see more of the wit & wisdom of Dave Allen!

  • Oh my God thats funny! Thanks for posting this. I have not seen Dave Allen for 25 years. He is great.

  • dave allways tells the great story thanks for putting your collection up

  • I like Dave Allen.

  • One of a kind. I miss him.

  • quite a storyteller!

  • Ah class! Post more if you have them! :D

  • EXCELENT VIDEO

  • Might be better if you didn't use the punchline as the title.

  • Hello my new friend! Yes, I do realise that. I have some other videos you may care to make what I am sure you consider to be acerbic comments upon.

  • And just for you, my friend, I`ve changed it (now I realise I can do that). You should feel very proud.

  • He was incredibly good at telling long jokes, building up such an atmosphere that made them much more funny than the punchline. I'll always remember 'The Globglobites' for example, despite that it is probably 25 years since I saw him tell it.

  • This brings back memories. I used to watch him all the time here in Canada. I take it he has passed away? Oh well all things must end. Let me rephase a saying of his but directed to God-may your comedian be with you.

  • He died in MArch 2005, actually.

  • well i dont think he'll care he wasn't the one to be bothered to easily of other's criticisms... RIP dave allen

  • True enough.

  • my favorite comedian of all time... bless the man he's a saint i hope hes happy wherever he is this day he is missed greatly

  • He didn`t think he was going anywhere, of course. Let`s hope he was wrong, eh. Still, if he is somewhere he`s going to be damned embarrassed!

  • The consummate storyteller / yarn-spinner! Brilliant...

  • A genius through and through
