How To Fix Bad Sources In Cydia iOS 4+

I know that this list seems like such a trivial thing to do but to everyone having problems: back up your iDevice, restore, set up as new phone, restore from back up, jailbreak using Cydia, try adding both of the sources that's in the very top of the description [if one doesn't work try adding the other one].

It's time consuming, I know, but try it and let me know how it goes.

Hi,

How do you know what gave you the error?

When I pressed 'changes' & 'refresh' it gave me a list of hundreds!

I'm 100% new to jailbreaking, & I've got nothing to load at all so far

(I used Redsn0w to jailbreak load Cydia)

Everytime I try to load an app, I get:

sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

Hey someone please answer. I jailbroke my 4th gen itouch on 4.2.1 with greenpois0n rc5 beta4. So when you open cydia, at the very top where it says downloading release it said error so I canceled it, then deleted a source. Now the downloading release thing doesn't come up and it says something is required whenever I try to download something from it. PLEASE RESPOND BACK

@mrheze2 I jailbroke my iPhone 4 about four to five days ago and the "xsellize" source is working. I have run into problems like the one your having and the BEST way to fix any problems is to restore your device and rejailbreak. I would write down all of the tweaks, themes and sources that you have on your device, restore your iDevice and rejailbreak it with GreenPois0n that is out right now. Restoring and rejailbreaking alone will fix everything. Try this out and let me know how it goes :]

@5mi1es From what I understand you can't add any sources or packages, so in your case I would write down all of the tweaks, themes, and sources you have at added and RE-jailbreak your device. Like I have said to others, "Restoring and RE-Jailbreaking your device can fix any problem." Just make sure to write down everything you have added in Cydia and re-add it when you jailbreak your device. I'm sure this will help you out but send me a message so I know how it goes :]

@D0inUrM0m1 In your case, I would try and hit cancel before it finishes loading (basically right after you open Cydia). If that works and you can get to your sources and packages I would write those down (write down every tweak, theme, and source you have) and Re-Jailbreak like I have told others because that can fix any problem you run into. it works great but theres only one problem, after executing the commands in mobileterminal and respringing, opened up cydia and all of the sources that were in the section 'entered by user' were in the section 'installed by package'. this now means there is no way to remove those sources as there is no package for them. other than that its sweet

dude I love you lol no homo probs with the video..help me with those gay errors but just like the guy up there tbenson25 i have problems but mine are similar but different.I installed calltell it all work great volume was great but all of a sudden when the person talks reading my text or saying who is calling the volume is low..my ringtone volume is still fine for text and calls but the calltell operator is low now and so is my keyboard typing sound do u think its the same I should go to 4.1

Even though the iPhone community may dislike Apple, just about all of their updates are important (and can help you). Think of iOS as a game in the App Store. When the game gets played by many people, certain problems arise and are fixed with a patch. With your problem, maybe iOS 4.1 is just what you need to fix your iDevice. You can always re-jailbreak.

You made this shit a breeze.. much props and i have a question for you. I have an iphone 4 on ios 4.0.1 and not too long ago the keyboard stopped making the clicking sound only in safari. It still clicks when texting or emails. I had ios 4 volume booster installed and thought that was the prob. I uninstalled and that did not help.. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated. First thing I would try, is to update to iOS 4.1. If you want to keep your iPhone jailbroken, you don't have to worry. The Limera1n and GreenPois0n jailbreaks for iOS 4.1 just recently came out. I'll probably be making a tutorial for that with my future to be iPhone 4. It's good to periodically update with Apples update. Their updates do fix errors users have.

@BKzG00nie23 Well that's the reason your having problems right there. Your not upgraded to iOS 4. That's why I downloaded mobileterminal ios4. You can try and download the regular mobileterminal and that should work. Also to find out which sources are bad, just go to changes in Cydia and click refresh. Cydia should tell you of any errors (I would write all of those down. I would also upgrade to iOS 4 because it's amazing! :D

I have tried to learn it but never went to far into it and now I don't run into any problems. If I get a bad source, I just follow this tutorial and I'm good. @mosleypup Ok, now is your bad source somewhat like mine. Or is it in folders like /var/lib/cydia. . . Ect.

I haven't run into a problem with accessing cyfix before. Also, just to make sure you know, don't type anything with capitalization in cyfix. Also try this and get back to me.

Write down /usr/bin/cyfix. Open up iFile, and look in that folder, see if there's any errors like the error you told me about. I just looked in that folder and you can view it and edit them. I hope I helped :)
