  • These pictures truly are a work of art, not in the sense that they are of good things, because they are not of good things. None the less, they fit magnificently with this tune. There is a very real truth that these pictures portray, and some find it not in themselves to believe. My question to all: is trusting in yourself, your own knowledge, wise? This is the time, the time of our lives to seek the truth, and not ignore what's in our core. For what is next, when time is all ran out. . . . . .

  • Some of those picture are from Dante Alighieri's Inferno.

  • "I'm so sorry"

  • I want to hear more songs like this, any recommendations?

  • @Shalek Dead can dance-Host of seraphim

    Water night- Eric whitacre

Call of Cthulu: Dark corners of the world- main menu theme

maybe some funeral doom, but it is more guitar distortion/gutteral droans than this... shape of despair maybe

  • @jamescydonia Thanks for the suggestions.

  • @Shalek Try "Masked Ball" by Jocelyn Pook which was used in 'Eyes Wide Shut'.

  • Beautiful.

  • I can't describe how this makes me feel.

  • Quite simply a fantastic piece of music for a fantastic movie.

IMO, the music is the most thought provoking, haunting, eerie and yet enchanting piece I think I have ever heard.

    Pure genius.

  • chilly, like donnie.....just sayin'

  • "have you ever seen a portal?"

  • The thing about this music is that I don't know how it makes me feel. It's dark, it makes you think about yourself, and it's deep. When it ends you're left in emptiness until you replay the song. It's like a sorrow that you actually want, for some reason...

  • @Smann54 I know what you mean. I listened to this song over and over today for about an hour and a half. Thinking about last night. I just had some regrets and this is great music for reflection. Though I came out a little bit pessimistic.

  • I need to play a really depressing video game now. Something apocalyptic.

  • I dissagree with the @tekken179i who needed a bath with a toaster. This music fills me with melancholy, with dread or maybe just a bit of fear. It fills me with darkness. But it also fills me, pushes me, pulls me but eventually, releases me. And suddenly, everything is light and I see the beauty of the world.

And I might be high as a kite, but if you don't find truth in my words, then you shouldn't listen to this. Because this piece is overwhelmingly beautiful

  • Are these paintings from the Inferno?

  • reminds me of dark sanctuary

  • have you ever seen a portal

  • Why isn't this music on spotify or itunes?? :(

  • I cherish this timeless song. It has such devastation in it, but yet, it's so comforting.

  • @Herbalaussie i agree :D

  • 1:57 where can i find this picture?

  • we are getting the artists interpretation of the "nine stages of hell"

  • Was the second clip a picture from the matrix. Is this song sad about the matrix sequels!? D:

  • Lmao @Tekken 179l it totally make u feel that way..like snuggling up with a rattle snake

  • "Do you believe in time travel?"

  • Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

  • why is christ in most of these pictures? it depictes him in hell? walking around with some other man...why is that??

  • @FightnThatGoodFight that's not christ, that is dante alligheri being shown the levels of hell by a tour guide ; )

  • @jamescydonia gotcha thanks man

  • such a beautiful song...

  • DD was excellent... I thought that movie would suck or whatever but since I was bored and had nothing to do, I decided to download Donnie darko since it was on someones fav list of movies, also because alot of people seem to like it too, such as Smosh, lol. Anyone who hasn't seen the movie should watch it..

  • when i cant sleep i play this song on repeat :P that puts me out in no time.... its so relaxing :)

  • EPIC

  • Thought this was the perfect end song from Donnie Darko; sounds dark and ominous but for some reason I think of rebirth- like a phoenix.

  • have you ever seen a portal?

  • @butters226

    "Burn it to the Ground."

  • @thooko :)

  • I am now in the mood for a bath with a toaster.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this sounds like Clannad doing opera?

  • This is a beautiful song. It pisses me off they don't actually include it in the original movie soundtrack, or even many soundtrack listings for the film. Wikipedia lists it though.

    Thanks for uploading it!

  • I love how this kicks in so suddenly at the end of DD. Creeps me out.

  • From the one of the best movie ever... Donnie Darko lead me here. Excellent music

  • if anyone ever played FFX this sounds sort of like the songs you here in the temples lolol

    anyway beautiful song.

  • @MrCloober I can just imagine this when Tidus finds out that Yuna is to follow the same fate as all the other summoners, it'd transition so well if there was a small section to the game where Tidus disappears from the group, either leaving you in control of Auron or Tidus, where you discover he has an epiphany that leads to the eventual saving of Yuna.

    I overthink things, I know. :3

  • Why isn't this music on iTunes or anywhere????

  • why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

  • although this song is euphoria inducing my brain doesn't associate it at all with religious artwork.

  • sorry, is not a Metallica song?

  • "...so I put some freaky paintings to the song." I like the way you think.

  • the artwork goes great with this song.. veery chilling.

  • I love the key change at 2:26. This song fit the Donnie Darko scene so well.

  • Such a beautiful piece of music that I absolutely adore!!!

  • chills by bones to the core. i love it.

  • such a beautiful song...

  • I love it and the art!

  • I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

  • these pictures are terrifying :O

  • 2:39 who painted that?! I like such kind of things, you should see works of Zdzislaw Beksinski, absolutely genious man.

  • @missnoone100 wayne barlowe painted that. its called "the examination" check out his website.

  • this is a really great video, who are the paintings by? x

  • Anybody know the lyrics?

  • Beautifully dark. I love your vision. Would you consider using fades/dissolve transitions instead of cuts and place some black spaces inbetween some of the more emotionally gripping paintings?

  • Where the hell did you get these pics? I want them!

  • This song should be about 7 or 8 minutes long, I could listen to it all night.

  • 1:58 was crazy i might get that as a tat

  • most of the paintings are taken from the odori visions of the bible

  • whi isnt this on itunes? wtf!!!

  • Clip sublime et la zik l'est tout autant!

  • i love it:)

  • lyrics;

    heeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    mahhhhhhhhh, de hoooooooooooooooo,

    a eeeeeee na semmmmmmmm,

    creee hooooooooooooooo

  • and what language is that? or is this just sounds like in Dadaism art?

  • loool!

  • This song is so beautiful (and that picture at 2:38 is so scary!), nice work ;-)

  • I think the picture is from Wayne Barlowe's Inferno, and I agree it's scary as all the pictures in that artwork.

  • there is god, you can be sure of that but meh you'll find out in the end :) just prepare for it. Dont go by what other people tell you, search for him and you'll find him but if you dont put any efforts in it then you'll never find him and just let yourself be led by those that simply refuse to be open minded.

  • The irony in actually telling people that. You're asking for conformation in your own way.

  • This world is rotten

  • No it isn't,l it is beautifull... all just a matter of perception.

You only live once and there very probably is no heaven or hell so just sit back and enjoy the ride :)

  • Sure is

  • I don't find this song chilling at all, (refering to the description).

It seems very peaceful, good graveyard music.

  • It is a lament... it is both a celebration of life and a commiseration of death.

It is supposed to be sad

  • It doesn't matter how it's 'supposed' to sound. How it is recieved to the listener is completely subjective, therefore being unique to the individual.

Hence i said, 'I don't find this song chilling' not, 'this song is not chilling'.

  • I was meant to reply to someone elses statement about it being sad

  • This song is really really good, but the bass could be louder and punchier to better accentuate the lead vocalist.

  • lol I like the description

  • amazing

  • Can you tell me please the name of the picture at 0:10?

  • @Satomihikaru did you find out the name of the picture?

  • Fucking racist bigot scum. Crawl back to your sordid little grief hole you sick fuck

  • trolling is an art

  • it is in the soundtrack!

  • Amazing song...

  • wow. raised hairs on my neck

  • most of these pictures are the 9 rings of hell, nice choice :3

  • omg 0:14, 0:42, 0:50, 0:55, 1:00, 1:05, 1:10, 1:15, 1:20,and 2:08 are all from Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Great book!!!!!! tells the story of a man going on a tour of the afterlife. first, through hell, then Purgatory, the Heaven. very descriptive. makes you think.

  • I like 1:42 it get intense about that point

  • This Video paints an exact picture of my heart and soul right now

  • Hope you find peace soon

  • so... you are experiencing hell? o_o

  • Calm down Mr. angrygoth

  • why didnt they put this in the soundtrack? i looked for it for like an hour the other day dog gamnit

  • I dont know for sure but i would guess that it wasnt included on the soundtrack because it wasnt composed by Michael Andrews (unlike the rest of the tracks they released).

  • Yeah. The soundtrack is songs composed and performed by Michael Andrews.

  • @jivejames67119 You can find several mixes of this track on the album ' Modern Classics 1 ' - it's impossible to get it elsewhere unless they've recently added it to the DD soundtrack..... A lot of people have been lobbying Pandora for it to be added .

  • It's available on the two disk special release. You have to import it from the UK though unless you live there or find a shop that already has.

Do you know who/what label that Modern Classics is? I love this piece because it reminds me of stuff by Dead can Dance.

  • soo is on the soundtrack!!!!!! thats how i got here!

  • /w#ww.amazon.ca/Songs-Motion-Picture-Donnie-Darko/dp/B0002XMF2G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1276698952&sr=1-2-spell

  • @jivejames67119

I thought they did. It's called 'The Portal (For Whom the Bell Tolls)'

  • Stunning.

  • the ones at 1:23 and 2:00 are scary man! does any know a website where i can find these paintings and ones similar to it? PLEASE RESPOND!

  • Look up nine rings/levels of hell in wikipedia and you will receive some pictures from this. you should read on it also, it's really interesting.

  • This is music, and some brilliant pictures to go with it, great job :)

and nudiludi, i just downloaded the Donnie Darko soundtrack and score and just got the song from there, hope it helps :)

  • A lot of these pictures look like they're from Dante's Divine Comedy. The picture at 2:07 I KNOW is from The Inferno.

  • ...very, very dark !! Brilliant

  • where can i get the mp3?

  • damn these pictures are good but creepy

  • this gave me goose bumps for some reason its just like a creepy but amazingly deep song for me.

  • so beautiful

  • this is pure epic right here

  • Awesome... Great music, great pictures.

  • I like 1:42 it just hits like real hard at that part...

  • this is fucking awesome music, nothing intimidates more than ancient sounding music.

  • lol it sounds like Mrs. Puff from Spongebob

  • lmfao it so does aaaaaahahaha

  • DONNIE DARKO

    gourgeous

  • Anybody can upload this Song for me please.

  • What are you saying?

  • if you like to remain pathological then its a good things to watch this :)

  • Simply gorgeous ... an equal to Brightman & Kingston's "Pie Jesu"

  • What's that picture at 2:37, the one with the man surrounded by all those big beasts? For that matter, most of these look like the same artist series.

  • I agree that most of them are from the same artist, but it's obvious to me that this artist liked to put his depictions of hell on paper. So the picture at 2:37 looks like it's no different.

  • What's the name of the picture at 2:00?

  • this music piece brings all my emotions out at once and i cant control it it's so breath taking... it really is beautiful.

  • I have been looking for this for months ... awesome.

    It's like art.

  • lol, it is art.

  • music? art? what the heck are you talkin aboout ??/

  • Music is art....

  • Well, for those who want the song, which I did when I watched the film Donnie Darko ^^, just search Carmen Daye in limewire and it'll come up. I searched long and hard for this damn song lol. So beautiful.

  • I finally got the song, in very good quality. man it was difficult, but i got it.

  • this song brings forth so many different emotions, feelings, and thoughts... obviously because of the lack of words you can get many different meanings from it. 1:42- 1:53 so amazing.

  • What's the second picture shown of the city?

  • Yeah, I'd also like to know... thanks.

  • This picture with the city reminds me of "The Real World" in the Matrix movies. I do not know for sure, could be something else.

  • interesting pictures, do they have a story?

  • Nah not really, they're all from different stories. Some are by Gustave Doré and tell stories frm the Bible; many of these are images of Hell. Although towards the end there's a painting of a Pagan god with a donkey's head =]

  • who create this pictures ?

  • Most of them were by Doré. I think some of them are just Pagan drawings.

  • wow well done babes

    this is really good :)

the song's well eerie tho. i can just imagine it being played at a funeral

    anyway, cool clip :) xx
