You are so right on will all you are saying. Greed and profits have destroyed the future for our children. We need to use our resources for developing our own industries so we have some hope for the future. We need our quality of life back in beautiful Vancouver Island. There is no hope to own a home any more. The day of reckoning is coming if the government does not start supporting the middle aged and young people. Our government has turned into a buddy payoff system. Have we lost our values?
btw, by the sounds of it, you didn't buy property in the 70's. You could have provided affordable housing for people today if you had spent your money better.
@walperstyle there's affordable housing in Vancouver at the Olympic Village...Last night the CBC showed a 1.1 million dollar home in Vancouver, just a small old bungalow - how can young families starting out afford one? But they also said that some Asians, not even living here have up to 4 homes, so that is driving a market that excludes our own Canadian population, not a sound strategy.
@JCVdude read a book by Robert Kiyosaki. A Hawaiian that teaches you a new perspective on how to let money work for you. I'm 30, and have a 5 bedroom house. I worked hard, then found renters/buddies to help pay my mortgage. I am providing a place for them to live, as well as securing my future. I accomplished this within 5 years of leaving my parents mobile home, with next to nothing in my bank.
I think you will find that MOST of thos eold people, are old people who used to work for the british govt (and ANY level).
Their pensions are so good that they can do that, but the rest of us are stuck in a british DUMP !
YOU and your people are in the same position as us - the GOVT workers (unions) are taking the profit, and YOU need to suffer, to give them the advantage. If YOU did well, they would have to pay more - and they DONT want that !
THE reason that the west is dying, is because we are constantly brainwashed that allowing foreginers into our countries is THE most important thing, in the wolrd.
If you didnt, you would be called a NAZI, and get invaded by america.
SOMEONE (and im still not sure who) is threatening ALL the western countries, to aallow thier countries to fail, rather than make them succeed.
All Brit Col would have to do, is charge more - but SOMEONE wont allow that !!
These problems can be solved with more social funding. Sadly the current "Harper Government" are corporatist, and only care about what draws a profit. I can only see problems with poverty getting worse with those morons in charge. They care nothing for Education and Rehabilitation. We are mere peasants to the corporatist elite, and unless the people stand up and say NO MORE! We will continue on as slaves feeding a parasite which could care less about our own destruction. Canada is doomed.
IMHO, governments dont look at the distant future and prepare to handle it accordingly.....all they see is four or five years of their party's ruling period and how to capitalise.....and even during their ruling period, they devise laws that dont make a sense like "u cant defend urself against an assailant" or u'll be sent to jail...what is happening in Davos is just for show......people running the governments all over the world need to be tried for Crimes against humanity..
