A good section to ride is between Medical Center and Grosvenor where you go from being nearly 100ft underground to being nearly 50 ft above the Beltway in a span of less than a few minutes, and then back into an open trench in the ground at Grosvenor. The trains do take the curve pretty fast in most cases.
@DanceFerLyfe The fastest that the Metro can go in routine service is 75mph. However, the fastest that any of the trains ever went was clocked at 78mph. Although there always is the BART system in San Francisco which hits 80mph in routine service and has the fastest subway speeds in the world for now.
@DanceFerLyfe I do too. What line were you on that speeded up to 105 mph? The Red Line is known for high speeds. And yes, it's totally AWESOME especially when you watch trains start speeding up while going into a tunnel with a four cross track tie that makes a huge echoing sound, like the one train in this video!
@1fcbfcbfcb Thanks for your comment. I haven't been on the Blue and Orange lines that much. However, I will give it a shot the next time I'm on the Metro.
Thanks for your comment. I like them too because they are loud as well. The DC Metro is really elegant too, I think. Much better than the Paris Metro, where I am right now!
Thank you very much for you're comment. I like the DC Metro Trains because they're very powerfull when the hurtle along the tracks and when they enter the station.
@DanceFerLyfe Here ya go- a ride from White Flint (the station before Grosvenor) to Medical Center.
Go onto the Monisrocks1995 and look for WMATA- red line from Shady Grove to Medical Center part 2/2.
