  • Wow man awesome Jazzy!!

  • Great Sound! But i have got a question The normal jazzmasters have dot Inlays where did you get The block inlays they just Look so awesome. Cheers

  • sounds great but looks like we found edward days weekness. guitar. oh well great drumming bro. u amazing with the patterns you play

  • best tone ever man, I'm seriously considering getting one of these

However I heard they are extremely heavy, is that true?

  • hey the sound isn't all that bad. Well it'd be more amazing in person but I think this vid captures the vibe of the incredibleness. Thanks.

  • What speakers you have in this Twin Reverb? JBL's? Nice sound by the way!

  • @VenomPreacher well heard ! indeed they are JBL 120f's the orange basket ones..

  • ah the great tone of the infamous push/pull mystery master volume....

  • Can you tell me what gauge strings you had on this Jazzmaster? Thanks.

  • 10's

  • wish i had that reserve and restraint when playing guitar...

i always ending up playing way too much and hamfisting the shit out of it ha

  • ok this is goood! and can you get it distorted quite good!? or is it just good clean!?

  • mostly clean, to distort would take ridiculous volume..

  • Damn man that's a sick ass tone..Where di you get your super twin from?

  • thanks, i got it from ebay..

  • this has has made me want to start learning guitar and buy a fender jazzmaster

  • cool !

  • So clean and cool, perfect tone!

  • Your tone is great, and what you're playing is beautiful! I don't know you, do you have recordings like these available! I could listen to this over and over.

  • thanks. yeah if you go to my youtube homepage there is a link from there to my myspace page there is a jazzmaster based number called battenburg ! very lofi recording but lends a certain charm.

  • Edward you should make another Jazzmaster video, I love your tone!

  • thanks. yeah been thinking about it, i do have a heavy drum bias on my videos. what sort of thing do you think i should do with it ?

  • finally, a fender thats actually put to good use. this is pure sound in its richest form.

love your style both on guitar and especially on drums. i actually adapted my set kinda like yours.

  • aww thanks, good comment. i'm glad you adapted your set a bit, i do find it so much more 'free' with a minimal set up !

  • Great!! you should please make more videos with your Jazzmaster.

  • meraviglioso! non ci sono altre parole.

    AAAAAA++++++

  • sweeeet, amazing sounds. Oh how I love these classic guitars and amps. 5 stars!!!

  • Nice to hear the actual tones of a jazzmaster for once!.... and that sweet throbing tremelo is great! Most of the Jazzmaster videos on youtube are by some bloke playing it through a ton of distortion making it sound like any old guitar.

  • thanks, yeah i have noticed those videos, i like to play up to the jm's attributes and what it does best rather than sounding like everything else. thanks for the nice comment !

  • When I was younger I would have probably played with a distortion pedal set to max as well!!! Now I'm...ahem...past the first flush of youth, I really appreciate the inherent sound of guitars...Jazzmasters, Les Pauls whatever. I'm thinking of getting one of the new Classic Player Jazzmasters..not the same specs as the original Jazzmaster. I did have a mid seventies edge bound block marked Jazzmaster way back in the day...it wasn't very nice but it would probably go for a bob or two now!!

  • The new Classic Players are actually designed to be like the original Jms, except for some added features... New pickups, different bridge, etc. The one I play every Monday at the local music store sounds just like any other JM, except I can also get a P-90/Gibson Goldtop sound too.

  • Sounds really interesting. I'm looking to buy a new guitar this week...either one of these Jazzmasters or a 60's reissue strat...can't decide which!

  • Jazzmaster. If you want a Strat, the 50's is the better model.

  • sorry, have you round or flat wound strings?

    tnx

  • these are flatwound 10's

  • I think flat wounds are the best for Jazzmasters and Jaguars!

I play 13-56 flatwounds on my Jazzmasters. They fit them very well.

    Twang cheers to everybody!

  • hello, your sound and your style are incredible. Sound soft and deep ... beautiful. I have a Twin Reverb silverface'79 and as soon as a Jazzy MIJ with Seymour Duncan Vintage. I hope that my sound can bring your own. Congratulations.

    p.s.

Sorry for my bad English... Frankie from Italy.

  • hi frankie, thanks for compliments most appreciated, yeah i've always loved that JM and twin sound, something special...

  • beautiful sound.

  • Very nice. Same amp as me. Same year too. Although I ain't got no 66 Jazzmaster. Just a 97 American Standard Strat and a 2006 Custom Telecaster FMT HH. Beautiful sound you got there. Peaceful.

  • thank you

  • Nice sound. very spacey, new age. I like it. I am not really a fan of these guitars, but this has changed my mind.

  • dream gear..

  • Yeah! This is the sound! Very nice! Once I played a `59 JM for recording (not my own unfortunately...). Good JM`s has got this vibe! Twang greetings from Germany!

    Ralf Kilauea

  • twang greetings ralph

thanks for the nice comment, yeah i love this guitar suits my drummers approach to guitar playing.. its quite a rare jm, was a NAMM/Sales guitar and has a v fancy birds eye maple neck and brilliant oversized F engraved Grover tuners! All original. I beleive only a few JM's have this and feel v lucky to own it ! But above all it does have something special in its sound..

  • this is the only good jazzmaster tone ive heard on youtube. i havent heard it from reissues, imports, or ones with lollar pickups. The seymour duncans are decent. Lindy Fralin baby. that'll do the trick.

  • thank you, i defo mainly only focus on the sound i can get out of it and the general vibe. its a shame the camera didnt quite capture how loud it was !

  • well yea dude! when you got a beautiful 66 like that the sound is all you gotta focus on cause it already looks sick as fuck

  • OK, I have a very big problem. I want to buy a new guitar and I've cut them all down to 2. A TC and a JM. Which one should I buy? It's such a hard decision.

  • Telecasters are nice, but there is a very simple problem to your very big problem, buy a Jazzmaster !

  • Now that's how a JM should sound. Deep, twangy and sonorous! Well done!

  • The guitarist from Jelly Fish (don't know if they are still around) described the Fender Jazzmaster as being a boingy guitar. I agree. Boingy in a great way. I hear the boing in your guitar sound.

  • yeah i would agree on that, it does have that feel to the sound. i cant get enough of it !

  • What is the rms output of this silverface? 85 or 100 watts? Doest it break up at any volume?

  • It will depend on what output valves you have but mine is 100 watts and has very very little break up, will go a little around 9, but fundamentally these amps are just very loud, clean and warm..

  • I've seen a longer clip of this - after 2.30 he breaks into 'Killed by Death' by Motorhead.

  • i wont deny it ..

  • Mmmmm that's a tasty jazzmaster. The tune sounds a bit godspeed you!.. to me. I like.

  • Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

And indeed. A Jazzmaster coupled with a Twin Reverb is such a lovely combo. I myself have a ltd. Golden Jazzmaster with matching golden headstock assembled in Japan with U.S.A. parts and that goes to a Silverface '69 Twin Reverb. Gotta love that sound.

  • a gold jazzmaster sounds v cool ...

  • Great tone you get from the Jazzmaster and the silverface Fender amp. Are you using flatwounds or roundwound strings?

  • yeah i literally restrung it before i made this video. they are ernie ball slinky 10's, so whatever they are ... thanks

  • Your song reminds me of Twin Peaks. Not really the theme but the music they had during some of the scary scenes. Not sure if you are familiar with the series or movie but that's the vibe I get. I think they used mostly Fender Baritone guitars for that but you get it with your JM. Do you also play surf music?

  • your bang on with the twin peaks vibe, thats the sort of guitar sound and feel i always get in my head ... shame the recording quality isnt great, sounded amazing at the time, the twin was cranked half way, which was v loud in that small room.. never really attempted to play anything surfy, love the sound of the reverb on the twin tho.. i just play what comes out really ... thanks

  • NIce very surf-y

  • Jazzmaster through a Silverface Twin...Can't be beat!! That's exactly my setup, except my Jazzmasters are reissues.

  • i'm such a wreck that brought tears to my eyes!

it reminded me of sitting listening to joe play his jazzmaster...

  • great tone. great tune.

  • thanks for the comment, yeah a jazzmaster and twin is great combo, cant beat the sound.. if you want to hear similar stuff just look at my myspace page ...

  • Doesn't sound bad.
