I am Tunisian and wanted to see how accurate the subtitles were.. they were pretty accurate except for some small parts. The part where its written "takatak" Tunisians usually mix Arabic, French, and English while they speak; so basically he said "attack attack". Also readers keep in mind that the lyrics are lagging behind the audio by a lot.
Too early to tell, but this will be registered in the history of music - it comes straight from the heart. The midgets with the deep pockets should be very worried; very worried indeed. They use coppers and tear gases, but mainly depend on apathy. However, when the middle class goes past poverty stage - which is soon - there won't be enough police to save them twats with the big bellies.
echt toll, ich liebe solche songtexte, sowas kann was bewegen und die politik auf probleme aufmerksam machen! erinnert mich n bisschen an pink, dear mister president..=)
Respect from Arlington Virginia. Allah/God/Buddha, the higher power above us all has blessed you with an amazing voice and the ability to speak out against injustice. You, my love, have done something that a million humans were unable to do.
as an american, i support the old, the weak, the young, the willing who fight and even die in the name of fighting the oppressed and for a free nation. I hope you all will taste freedom in the following year to come.
respect to you el general from india....i wish there was someone like you in my country as well instead all we get is the same bollywood horseshit...my country has the worst possible parasites in power and are supported by an equally fucked up media....
I wish America can have its own Arab Spring but people like Fox News, and CNN would never allowed something like that to happen.I saw last night on Fox News where they were condemning the Wall Street occucyers calling them stupid hippies, and stupid bums, saying that they had no reason to be there at those protests, and i just got upset. Its like the media wants us to slaves forever.
I read about this song in the book Rock the Casbah by Robin Wright. She documents the youth and Internet based rebellions across the middle east. Its a great book. I love stuff like this, the US is filled with so much anti-Muslim propaganda lately, this is a nice counterpoint.
Crazy how this dude in Tunisia makes a rap song that inspires an oppressed country to rise to revolution while scumbag rappers from the country that started rap are rapping about their private jets while the american poor's conditions are worsening every day. Fucking sad, what happened?! Peace and respect to El General.
This guy amazing in both musical ability and beliefs. I'm from the U.S. and el general will be remembered as a martyr if he doesn't live, whereas Ben Ali... not so much :P
the revolution song ... i can never forget it ... it will keep in the tunisian history ... proud to be tunisian ... proud to be arabic ... we are free ... listen to us ... we are free ... we have now one voice ... the people voice ... wait us ...
@SuperGolddustwoman He was released along with pretty much all other political prisoners when Ben Ali fleed the country. He has performed this song live for the public at a large stadium along with other music acts, to celebrate the liberation of Tunisia. As far as i know he is still a free man living a free life in Tunisia.
in this fucking world no any good persone could be able to live with peace and happy.........especially muslims.....coz this world is a dark and scary for muslims......there's no full fledge freedom for muslims......if you get the world survery about muslims....in every territory muslims killing by none muslims.....huge respect from green Pakistan

this guy is a living legend, can you believe he was only 20 yo when he posted this video on 7 november 2010? he was one of the main reasons tunisian people finally made a move and fought for their freedom.
because seriously, when you see a 20 yo guy not fearing a dictator, you should be ashame of yourself if you don't do the same.
no wonder he was included in Time's 100 most influential people list.
At this time of profound social change around the world, I feel extremely fortunate to see that young people are part of these changes directly. I believe that art has this role, unfortunately some musicians here in Brazil just want to sing nonsense, leaving part of the people missing in the struggles of the underdog. I'm from Pará, and the rest of Brazil wants to push a dam without respecting indigenous peoples and residents of the area of Altamira.
By the way, I truly admire this man's courage. May he serve as an example of bravery to all youth worldwide. I wish everyone (including myself) had the balls to face injustice and tirany like this man did. El General, você é o cara! Valeu!
If only in my country people would struggle to take out all of its dirty politicians. In Brazil, senators and governors have stolen a shitload of money from the National Treasure and no one has the balls to claim it back. Nobody even cares about politics anymore here. We elected a professional clown (no kidding, he makes a living out of bad jokes and pranks) as federal deputy last year. It gets even worse than that because the dumbass is completely illiterate. We should value democracy way more.
