If I'm right, I think you could probably go to Gerudo Valley now and do the spirit temple. You can also do the shadow temple right after the fire temple too, by entering Kakariko village.

Hmm.. Personally I never noticed that the Water Temple was at all long and what kind of difficulty, I dunno' maybe its that I never made use of P's Wind at all throughout the game in general.
