  • your cat is EPIC WIN!

  • Indeed they are the best cats. I have two Tokinese male cats who have surpassed every other breed. My 9 yr old also fetches the same way! It is so much fun. I could have the worse day then come home, and all of my problems fade away. Tonks rule!

  • how do you train them to fetch ? i have 2 tonks.. about 24 weeks old. they say tonks love to fetch. i don't know how to train mine to fetch.. but i would like to try

  • I have a tonk and this is where we got the name idea we have one blue mink tonk and he is very very stubborn and rude but an outoging cat, and he likes vegetables and he doesnt like milk but only ice cream of the dairy products!

  • Tonks are the world. They often fetch, mine used to make up all kinds of games. Give Milo a big hug from me, another Tonkinese fan please. Thanks for the upload

  • Too cool! Tonks are the best kittehs ever!

  • I love tonks too, we had two tonk brothers and one used to play fetch all the time. I can't wait to get another one. I have a dog at the moment who acts like a cat and sleeps all day and is very lazy so it would be nice to have a cat that played fetch.

  • My Tonkinese fetches too!

  • haha, i like the end :D "What on earth did you bring along" :D Must get one Tonkinese for me someday...

  • I have a Tonk that loves you to throw these little sponge balls about the size of a golf ball down the stairs and he fetches it back to you. When you have to stop he brings the ball to the top of the stairs and bats it down by himself and fetches back up. He will do this for an hour or so.

  • Brian, alot of tonkinese cats just do it without any type of training to fetch.

    playful nature i guess

  • how do you teach your cat to play fetch, i really want to know...

  • Tonks are awesome, I'm watching youtube with my baby boy on my lap. I love my little tonk so much hes the best

  • That is so cool! Tonks are the best cats!

  • I was never a cat person, much more of a dog lover, but I rescued a tonk kitten a couple months ago. Tonks are awesome.

  • I know what you mean, I grew up with dogs, but tonks are so much like little puppies, except more cuddlier :) I'm glad to hear you helped out one. All the best of luck

  • @alleystang2000 Wow you are lucky.

  • we have two tonks, and they both play fetch. They're so smart but so DUMB too! Their curiosity gets the best of them

  • Funny thing is I never taught them to fetch, they just started doing it. It has to be a favourite toy though. Milo will only play fetch with a piece of cloth, where as my other cat likes to play with a rolled up plastic bag, so she always wait for me to play with her after I go grocery shopping :)

  • Thanks for sharing...Tonks are so smart! How did you teach yours to fetch? My two year old male Champagne Mink Tonkinese, Spencer sometimes will play fetch, but I think I'm doing something wrong in my "teaching method". Any "words of wisdom"? I love this breed!

  • I have two Tonks, my male taught himself pretty much with those small fuzzy rattley mice toys. My female wont't fetch, she will chase it down if the male is playing. But she never picks it up and returns it. The two of thems are so much the same, yet so much different. Don't know if it can be taught?

  • I got mine from TradeMe website, its New Zealand based. You can find similar stuff from Amazon, just type in Cats Jungle Gym, there should be plenty of places that sell them too.

    They love it :)

  • oh,I forgot to ask about that "gym" you have,it's perfect and ..where did you get it?

  • Aah so you have 2 Tonks,right.

After the death of my 13y.o. Burmese I ended up "rescuing" a 3mth F-wow!!!!

I'm really concerned & thinking I must get another even though I'm home based-in a 1 br unit! Please, what do you recommend? She's the most gorgeous, bossy, talkative, demanding, heartbreaker I've ever known. She's confiscated my teddy(from childhood),dragged it out of the wardbrobe and is having a very intense relationship with him.Stole and hid my flash stick the other day, lovely!

  • Ha ha, thats cute. Yes I have 2 tonks, because its nicer for them to have each other during the time when I'm at work, plus we have a lot of cats around the area, so the two of look out for each other, and they don't get hassled by the bigger / older cats.

Although if you've only got 1 bed unit, I wouldn't get 2, it might be too crowded.

Mine tonks tend to go into neighbours houses and steal other cats toys and bring them home, its rather embarassing :)

  • now that's hilarious!

    so yours are allowed out,interesting.

There are HEAPS of cats around here, too many really and my big girl held her own in a big way.

The little one's quite timid(not with me!) and has had flu when I got her, pneumonia and then her spay went wrong-restiched,2 ops, still recovering so I'm too protective of her to let her out with out me BUT she rules my life!Hassles me to go to bed, persistently.

  • Omgosh, hahaha I'm playing fetch with my Tonkinese kitten Sadie:) She also loves to sit on shoulders and be up high like most tonkinese. They are amazing cats! I've had so many over my life, strays, and they're amazing, too, but Sadie is by far one of the best: VERY intelligent!, loving, playful, talkative, stubborn at times, and beautiful!! :)

  • Tonkinese are a very intelligent breed of cats. They're ranked 8 out of 10 in cat intelligence. The smartest breed of cats according to studies is the Sphynx.

  • A lot of other kinds of cats play fetch too. They just do it when they really want to play.

  • We have 3 tonkinese cats and they're great. They are everything and more that you could ever ask for in a cat.

  • That's awesome! I was thinking about getting a Tonkinese because they have a reputation for being so playful. How is yours? How hard is it to train one?

  • Tonkinese are like little dogs, they're fantastic. My two tonks love to play, and they bring their toy into our lap to play fetch when they're wanting attention. Didn't really need to train them, somehow it just started out of the blue. They're very smart and affectionate, I'd definitely recommend getting one (or preferably two)
