@spectramac ME TOO! We think she needs rings - smokes a bit after start-up.
@deception4ever It's so cool to see the kid riding along! In 1987, when I was 6, my Dad mounted a car seat to the fender so I could ride along while he plowed snow. MAN DID I LOVE THAT! You're giving that little one something he/she will never forget! :D :D :D :D
Back in 1984 when I was 14 I almost bought one of these from a used tractor dealer. While operating it for the first time I lost one of the steering clutches and the dealer wouldn't sell it to me like that. I've dreamed of the day I could get one for myself.
My brother in law had a 40C back in 1955.I was 8 years old and since he had no trailer to move it with,I used to drive it to where it needed to be.I travelled along gravel mountain roads and logging trails, sometimes having to doze my own trail up the mountain.West Rupert,Vermont is where I lived.Happy memories.
It has one more lower gear, REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SLOW. My word it has a slow first gear, reverse is almost as bad. Its a wonder anything ever got built with machines like this.
your a retart! what would have happened if your son fell off your lap?

Great machine. Poor choice to take a kid with you and let him ride in your lap.

Love the old earthmovers. I don't know a thing about em', I just love watching them in action. Your son is a lucky young man!! Great post.

What a fantastic sound when you get a little bit of a load on it! Reminds me of riding on my dad/grandad's lap on many an old piece of equipment.

Hi there,... I'm trying to get an Owners Manual for a 1950 JD 40C for a neighbour. Sounds like you have one... where could I get one?
Thanks very much.
