This is Bob. Soon bob will take over youtube!

  • Murdoch sucks ass!

    Fuck Faux 'News'!

    Fuck the New York Post!

  • Camshaff, money is not the only reason writers pursue their craft but if they can't make a living at it.....You honestly believe the writers want to bring down the industry that they want to work in?

  • I'm no Hemingway but like him I give my best to my readers and don't go on strike to bring down my industry. But you are an exception, at least you're only sarcastic. Most WGA members have been incredibly rude, inarticulate and filled with hate. So I apologize for my crude attempts to get writers back writing. I'm surprised that money is the sole reason writers pursue their craft; at least they've allowed it to be the sole reason to stop writing.

  • The two statements he made are NOT mutually exclusive.

The Holy Grail as a metaphor is usually meant as some ultimate goal. In terms of money, it's the thing/idea that will make you rich. Opportunities may not make you really wealthy, but you might be able to make some money. So you can have golden opportunities without the Internet being considered a Holy Grail.

And the Holy Grail--according to Grail lore--doesn't have to be made out of gold.

  • You've got free internet? Can I have some of it? Because mine isn't free, even though it's filled with more ads than Free-TV.

  • I think you've cut and pasted this EXACT comment on almost every WGA video. What's up with that?....blame it on the Bollywood!

  • What, I thougt you WGA supporters liked reruns?

  • Ah camshaff, so you ARE able to put a running thought together and not just regurgitate the same nonsense over and over again. Goody for you.

  • lolz...

  • The Writers Guild Foundation has established an Industry Support Fund to assist members of the industry who are in financial distress as a direct result of the Writers Guild of America strike against the AMPTP, which began on November 5, 2007. This Fund is designed to provide emergency assistance for food, housing, transport, medical and other expenses,

  • Yes they did. But why the WGA wait so long to do so?

  • Because they're contract just went up.

    So now they can.

  • LOL NICE!

  • Dont fuck with writers, they have the power of wit!

  • I find it pretty hard to believe anyone is championing the cause of a handful of giant multi-nationals. Oh those poor bad writers! And that evil WGA and their "organizers"! For shame! I think these anti-union provocateurs are a combination of paid shills for AMPTP and a handful of fake "conservative" morons who can't get laid.

  • Why can't we just bend over and get rammed too while we're at it? Right. Okay.

  • Why do people that know exactly what they are saying still say it?

  • Even if it is crappy program, the networks are still distributing the crappy material that the writers created without giving the writer's their share of the internet resids...the networks are worse off without the writers and the writers definitely deserve what's rightfully theirs...

One of the possible reality shows that the networks have considered if the strike goes on long enough is called "Farmer Needs A Wife"...

    We need our writers...

  • Well, we did need them until they let us down. You can't hold an entire industry hostage over contractual disputes. It's a primadonna move.

  • said the man with no soul

  • Think about your statement.

We had need of them until they asked to be fairly compensated for their work.

  • As for those still getting paid by the showrunners?

I'd rather have a group of people be bitched out by arrogant assholes than a future generation of bitchslapped writers.

By the way, you completely missed my point.

  • How much do "they" get paid, Opiateantagonist. Do you even know. How many of "them" were even working when the strike was called. Most of them were well off and went on vacation for the hollidays? A lot of assumptions. All of them wrong. Why is your name Opiateantangonist? Do you hate tv?

  • OMG...you guys don´t get tortured with "farmer needs a wife"...lucky you...here in germany it´s on for one and a half years already...it´s horrible but THE hit show of this season...

  • Rupert Murdoch is supporting Hilary Clinton.

  • Poopert.

  • "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life!"

    - Monty Python and the Holy Grail

  • Sucks that the mega-rich and comfortable couldn't continue to sit it out with you guys. Conan, Jimmy, Craig, Jay, Dave (although he's at least working out a deal), and -- most surprisingly -- Jon and Stephen, have all sold you guys out. I never thought I'd see that happen. It's disgusting and I really wish you would comment on that either here or in a video. Won't this forever fracture relationships between WGA members and the WGA members that crossed the picket line (Jay, Conan, Jon, etc.)?

  • they are going back to work to keep the non writing employees in their homes. i do agree the writers deserve money for thier work where ever it is shown, but i don't think the shows are going against writers.

  • If you're also a producer, you can pass the line. They just chose to do that.

  • is this video gay?.... No :D

  • Oh Rupert..

Wake up and smell the digital era.

    Give these people their money.

  • They are responsible for many excellent tv shows and entertainment for millions of viewers.

This is their money because they deserve it, they work very hard for it, this world is an unfair place, we pay our football players more than we pay our firemen.. That's why I'm glad these people have the balls to demand the pay they deserve.

  • ..God, you're just dying to make a provocative statement aren't you?

This strike is not about factory workers, if they wereon strike, I'd be on their side too.

But this is about residuals and getting what you deserve. The corperations get enough money as it is, share the wealth.. even if they are crappy writers, they still work hard every single day.. unlike someone like Murdoch who has people doing alot of work for him and goes on vacation 11 weeks a year.

  • First of all.. Ethnic offensive jokes, not very bright. Secondly.. Employees bear no risk? How about.. Not being able to feed their children? provide for their families?

They need some financial freedom, which they deserve. But, you seem to be one of those capitalistic people who really don't care abut any kind of poverty or human injustice.. So, this discussion is over.

  • Like I said.. This discussion is over, I don't discuss anything with someone who lowers himself to calling someone an 'idiot'.

I guess they taught me that at 'braincamp'

  • KiheiLawyer, residuals are deferred compensation and have nothing to do with profit. The writers do take a risk in accepting a lower initial payment for their work against the chance that their work will be shown a great number of times in the future.

Without residuals, writers would need vastly increased initial compensation to give up the risk of creating popular work that continues to be shown for years, decades, etc. without further compensation for their work.

  • no, the shareholders put up the money. rupert is just one old motherfucker that spearheads it.

  • Goodbye to romance.

  • There's gold in them thar hills.

    No.

  • Rupert Murdoch just pwned himself.

  • hahaha

  • No...
