  • These guys were the first I ever saw live. I have always liked them and this genre, and though I am a metal/screamo fan, The Doobie Brothers will always be my favorite band. Rock on, Jesus.

  • The Masters of "Jam"!

  • Timeless!

  • Wish someone could put Dark Eyed Cajun Woman from this concert up. Both are cool tunes.

  • Them Boys looked like they were havin fun playing that....I thoroughly enjoyed watching it..You guys are a true class act.

  • 2 drummers..... awesome.

  • the doobies are a good as the beatles ..all the songs of both bands are classics ....

  • NICE!!!#1

  • SO AWESOME!!! :) Amen!

  • The 1st time I heard this tune I knew it was going to be a classic, and I,m not even religious..and here I am almost 40 years later digging on it.The Bros. are the shit!

  • Classic! Love it!

  • If you're a christian and you're put off by this song because of the phrase "just alright" then you're missing the point. Chances are when you're reading your Bible there's a good chance you're missing the point of what you're reading too.

  • @Durfio Relax bro, it's just a song, and it still praises His name, that's all that matters. Don't be so serious and judge mental.

  • I'm not even religious and I LOVE this song!

  • Thank YOU for Sharing these vids. :)

  • AMEN

  • Just Alright? =Not Perfect or Awesome,,,Just alright.....ok....never understood that

  • @jayburns2012 it's an expression, man.

  • @jayburns2012 Slang of the 70's I guess you had to be there. But "Just Alright!" was a very good thing.

  • E3veryon seems to miss what a line up these guys have on guitars Johnson , and Simmons are demons !

  • Great stuff. Saw Cornelius with Steely Dan at Jones Beach. A big loss.

  • JESUS IS ALRIGHT WITH ME BABY YEA!!

  • @kingbrotherman amen!

  • Alright

  • Looks like Jesus is not alright with the crowd - they look like a bunch of boring atheists.

  • What a friend indeed. @sanjose #sade

  • this song goes hard for Jesus!

  • LIttle River Band, Now your'e talkin.

    Great Aussies

  • doobie brothers: joining simon and garfunkel, james brown, and norman greenbaum in making worship music sound decent to a heathen!

  • Jesus is not alright with me.

  • @odensmeadhorn

You are all right with Jesus!

    <3

  • @child7of7christ No hes pissed i ran over his cat.

  • @TheJubilee3 Agreed! I just wish that 'preachers' like Jerry Falwell, Fred Phelpes, and Pat Robertson would stop making Jesus look bad.I'm just saying.

  • styx suck except half penny two penny and snow blind the rest of the catalog blows .

    Doobie Brothers 100 times better

  • He is The Only One who died for us....Mohammed ,No.Buddha,No.....Thank you Lord!

  • I was born in 89. Thank god my dad has good taste in music and introduced me to boston doobie brothers three dog night and little river band

  • @blakenelson089 Wow! You & your dad have great taste in music! I just saw Michael McDonald last night with Boz Scaggs. They sounded terrific! Do you like Steely Dan & Gerry Rafferty? My son is 10 and he loves our "old school" music! I'm actually surprised how many songs that he knows the lyrics to.

  • @blakenelson089 me too brother thank god we have taste

  • Always loved this song! See even old hippies love Jesus!

  • Comment removed

  • @mtjensen3 Jesus is the Cool Son of The Big Hippy Mahn!!!

  • OO no question THE DOOBIES better live or not live then Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs, Foreigner, Kansas, Styx, or Chicago another group thats great live is ZZ TOP

  • They are on CMT tonight (June 24th) on Crossroads with Luke Bryan!! Seen em live countless times. Awesome band!!!! OH time is 10:00 EST.

  • Twin Bassmans... I preferred the Bandmasters!

  • FOR MY SON .. NICOLAS M.CORROCHANO .. REST IN PEACE SON !

  • We played this song at my dads funreral 15 yeras ago! Today is his Birthday he would be 54! R.I.P Daddy I miss you sooooooo much!! Keep on jammin' up there with the best!! :')

  • they played at merlefest this year. awesome

  • Here a song to almighty Praise be Him

  • I like the map... but they breezed right thru the Slack Key Soquel Rag without even stopping! lol

I think I even saw the Doobie Brothers in Soquel once?

  • Isnt it cool when a Rock Band can sing a song about Jesus as opposed to all the demonic and satanic crap they have out now??? Great Song!!

  • oh yeah,love this song

  • Love Styx but this is my favorite old song. Didn' know the band though.

  • You do know these are the original Doobs!

  • @shellaroe hunting is necessary. If the a population of animals gets to high disease starts to spread in it. Also I know people that hunt not to kill for fun, but to keep meat on the table.

  • We played this song at my dads funeral!! R.I.P Daddy : )) Classic... just doesnt get any better than this! If I get a chance IM GOIN!!!!!!!

  • The Wildlife Society doesn't oppose hunting/killing. That's not alright with me & I don't think it would be with Jesus either. Any form of killing perpetuates killing. Not very loving....

  • Here is the second song from their current set list!

  • You can see the black and white version of the Doobie Brothers singing it in the early 70's. It was one of their first small hits and Patrick Simmons sang the slowed down solo part.

  • In 1966 Art Reynolds took the 5 best singers from his choir at the St. Vestal CME church and created the great Art Reynolds Singers and this was one of their first gospel hits.

  • So are they being ironic or are they really this excited about jesus?

  • @bosshog7169 They are saying they believe in Jesus no matter what anybody else says; they are serious just as the original song was and The Byrds version, too. They are not being fanatical about it, they are just saying that's their belief. Written in the 60's "just alright" had a different meaning. It meant they were sincere in their belief.

You can tell by their faces, they are sincere.

  • Haha it's the Religulous song!

  • Jesus is Just Alright, which I believe everyone that was up there singing their heart out like this song as they realize he is the way but we all fall so short and are often just lukewarm but we know he is the answer.

  • saw the doobies just last night in melbourne australia first time ive seen them in concert they were fantastic great show did all the classics and more this was the second song and sounded perfect black water is my personal favourite and that went down a treat

  • this whole dvd is great, and that bass player is the shit

  • Where's ReRun from What's happenin'??

  • Michael mcdonald is missin out on the jams! I like the black dude that looks like he just booted some H in celebration of Jesus. Right on!!

  • WAY CLASSIC!! Jesus gotta love it

  • they said rock n roll would die out.

  • @MyLesPaulcopy .. lol.. no.. lol..

  • go Pat .. go...

  • @MyLesPaulcopy Why?

  • @MyLesPaulcopy I listened to it I guess 200 times. I've watched bands get smokin' high on whatever there was to pass around and then sing it. I'd bet 99% of the people I've heard sing this don't give a damn about Jesus. It's a good song with a great rhythm, but that's my personal experience.

Maybe your experience is different, but don't be so pompous & holy as to tell me I don't understand, friend: I understand all too well.

  • "Introducing Frederick Douglas back up vocals , Jon Voight on the bongos, and Ron Swanson shredding lead guitar and lead vocals"

  • Very true song. Jesus is just alright with a lot of people. Not a Lord or Savior or God or anything, just alright. Kinda like rhubarb pie.

  • Cornelius Bumpus RIP.......started with the Doobies in 79/80.

  • JC is very alright with me; but comfortably numb Christians are NOT and "Christ you know it ain't easy; they just may crucify me" as 'saint' Lennon sang and God knows that THEY are in my own family!

"A person's enemies will be the members of his own family."-JC as quoted in Matthew 10:6

  • Jesus is a babe too..

    I love all their drummers..

  • Jesus is a babe too..

  • it's such an awesome song!!

  • Badly miss Cornelius Bumpus who gave a characteristically inspired vocal on this version during the slow part ("Jesus, well, he's my friend") His sax and keyboard work with The Doobies and Steely Dan was fantastic. RIP brother.

  • @tealemat I will miss him too. I like this version of the song best of all..mostly because of Cornelius.

    RIP

  • Frederick Douglas on the keyboards...

  • seen the Doobie Brothers over 12 times. Always awesome!

  • lol no such thing as a cuss word or hell lmao. fuck is bad cuz someone told you that.

hell is to scare you. love the doobies! mmmm....doobie,........ahhhhgghhh..............

  • I am so thankful that Jesus is there with me

  • Absolute class!!!!!!!

  • Jesus is more than alright, he our only way of eternal life,& salvation, love this song..

  • Much to my frustration as an atheist ... I like this damn song. XD

  • Dont be religous just be happy who you are ? No matter what everyone says ? Jesus is there with everyone here on earth

  • @DannyLovesOregon I agree with You 100%!!!

  • Thank you for your encouragement my friend, helps everyone not do too much talking

  • This was the song that you could REALLY get a girl to slow dance with you back in high school in the '70s!

  • classic...

  • oh Jesus! my face is melting from 3:00!

  • wow!!! man thats all i can say!!

  • stop jesus and god

  • Jesus is not alright with the lead guitarists haircut..

  • is the guitarist in the blue a girl or a guy?

  • @SteezeWizard99 He's John McFee.

  • @SteezeWizard99

If a girl, they should rename the band: The Doobie brothers and sister(s).

  • I like the way Cornielus Bumpus sings this song. He sings it like one of those hellfire and brimstone preachers on Sunday morning!

  • they didnt age too badly

  • tight

  • The world needs more rock piano solos

  • get your Jesus on this morning!!!!! Mwah!!!!

  • Funny, I don't think of Jesus when I hear this song.....!

  • What a waste of 10 years when the Doobie Brothers were without Tom Johnston. They wasted an entire decade of great music and touring from 1979-1988, until Johnston came back for their reunion tour and album in 1989. I still can't believe they have not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • This sounds as good as the original version in my opinion! Tight band!!!!!

  • Oh yea!!!

  • These guys rock ... little bit of Southern rock, mixed with a bit of Queen orchestration ... absolutely heavy!!

  • Always diggin' the Doobies!!! If they ever come to your town, do yourself a favor and GO SEE THEM! You won't be disappointed! Miss the long hair, but hair doesn't make or break a band! Peace to 'ya!

  • hope theyre coming to light up sacramento, cause we sure need to spark up some butt heads around here

  • I love this song

  • When I hear this song it reminds me of the dancing Jesus in Bill Maher's Religulous...lol

  • Awesome song & video!

  • Awesome song & video!

  • Básico...!!

  • Good rock!! thanks!!

  • this is a great song!!!!!!!!!!!!are they still going??

  • @toddviv YES! They're on a co-headlining tour right now with Chicago and they have a new album coming out in September. I've seen them live quite a few times and no one has topped them. They are better live then Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs, Foreigner, Kansas, Styx, or Chicago. If you get the chance to see them live, don't pass it up!

  • @drhey19 big shot, styx does a better stage show, stop being so pregidice, doobies rock anyhow!

  • @toddviv most amazing EVER

  • @toddviv JUST SAW EM DOOD. FUCKIN AWESOME.

  • Watch that language you will go to hell for saying that

  • @omaradrian2001 I have. How about you?

  • I keep thinking of Bill Maher every time I hear this song!

  • Lets relax and "Take A Pass". Talk about tunes a bit. Here is my SONG OF THE DAY. Its the opening song form "Rockin Down The Highway'. A reunion Video of the Doobie Brothers from 1996. Great Recording.

  • A Testament in under five minutes!

    Now that's the gospel!

  • Going to see the Doobies" tonight in Atmore with best friend from high school (Fred Schrieber). Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons still rockin! Fred and I will be in our Rockin chairs.

  • THE EVER PRESENT....... *****Patrick Simmons **** I love this guy.

If you look at all the MASSIVE Personnel changes that the doobies went thru from 1970 THRU 2010 Youll find that most of the original members left and came back or passed away. .etc. But Despite ALL of that, Patrick Simmons REMAINED with the Doobies for 40 years and counting!!! You Rock PAT!!!

  • thank you for sharing

  • why do people think this is a christian song? its saying jesus is JUST ALRIGHT. Alright means average, ok, not great but workable, in terms of grades alright is a C. Jesus is supposed to be great according to the bible right?

  • you miss the whole point actually

This is a Christian song for sure. However it is a non denominational song. The idea is Catholics Baptists whatever argue and say whatever...as well as those who aren't even Christain.

They don't care what anyone may say, "Jesus is my friend"

in the slang lingo of the 60's and early 70's "just alright" is a good thing.

This song is a way of saying that no matter what people say..they have a faith that wont be broken.

  • hmmm, ok, forgot about the friend part. as far as slang goes, who cares, we dont talk that way anymore so someone who isnt from the 60's is not going to think just alright means really great. now days when something is mediocre you say, "eh, its alright."

  • The Lord Jesus Christ is also alright with me, He is my Saviour!!!

  • Yes Lawd! Jesus is Just plain Alright with me!!! Jesus is My friend!!! :)

  • I think its fascinating that they have two drummers in their band :)

  • i dont care what they may say. jesus is just alright! oh yeah!!!!!!

  • Somebody...Somebody...Somebody Get

these guys into the Rock Hall of Fame...

  • I want to meet them too... sign me up...

  • Comment removed

  • Haha i think you missed the entire point of the song.

  • I am sure you dont get it at all.

    Jesus is my friend.

and dont argue with everyone of 1000 different sects over doctrin.

  • Its a joke...sarcasm!!!!!!!

  • A-MEN

  • I read the comments here, I consider myself a Christian....regardless, whether it has to do w/Christianity or not... this song rocks!

  • nice

  • Makes me fall in love with Jesus all over again!! Jesus is just alright, oh yea!

"I don't care what they may say, I don't care what they may do, I don't they may say, Jesus is just alright, Jesus is just alright, oh yeahhhhhhhh!!"

  • Even though I'm not Christian, this is one of my favorite songs!

  • why can't christian music be as good as this
