  • sure as hell aint no cobra kit...by what hes saying the old car sounds like total crap...imo youd be way better off with a vette or a cobra kit

  • @philtripe heh yea, i'm looking to start a GTM this coming Fall, and man.. if you were to invert this review, it really makes you think the first kit would be a mistake

  • Go with these guys!! Please do not go with Super Replicas THERE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! These guys are the real deal!

  • the steering wheel is upside down

  • That's bull shit that you can build it for $40.000 ..that's what I thought and build one and I have over $80.000 ...so bull shit I say to those people that say that they can build one for $40.000. If not don't ask a dreamer ask a FFR GTM builder they can tell you the facts

  • how much is the kit if you have a doner c5 corvette?

  • @32479612391 like 20k

  • This guy should hire someone else to do the videos...

  • Are kit cars street legal?

  • @orionpirates yes

  • @orionpirates yes

  • Id rather buy a nissan sentra

  • @fs93543 Thats because you like penis in your asshole

  • 60,000 to build, which will take a couple of years, or u can buy it complete for 100,000

  • @fs93543 44.000.00 turn key car not 60.000.00

  • @fs93543 What... the.... fuck...... I thought it only costed around $50,000 complete.

  • @usernamesnot how did that work out?

  • I think it's just awesome to have a company president with this kind of involvement and experience with what his company produces. Way to go Dave!

  • oh my god the front end is similar to an f50 gt! i think i'm gonna HAVE to order one lol.

  • I LOVE IT YOU NEED A METAL

  • this is probably the only north american car i will ever like, looks nice, hoping to build one someday

  • can u get it in right haand drive

  • Awesome...

  • I'm planing on building one with a ls7 create engine when I get a job and after I put some money in savings.

  • I saw one today one the highway very fascinating car.

  • Yeah... Kit cars will be the super cars of the near future. So we are down to about $40K to finish the car now?

  • will you the make the gtm in an automatic version or will that be the decision of the owner?

  • anyone know the weight of the body and chassis? including glass

  • I like kit cars because fiber glass is actually a high performance material, better than what's used in mass production. not a huge fan of this crude ford gt steroid quarter back look but the quality looks good. I would encourage developing a second sportscar model that is more elegant, not quite as wide, finer features, narrower wheels, super light, no over the top air intakes, aerodynamic and with electric drive in mind. maybe call it Europa.

  • if i had the 20G's to buy this car i would

  • @rockstr1 i own one ... you need alot more than 20 g to build one... alot!

  • Hey it loks like a Ferarri, wait no, it looks like a GT-R! hmm wait no, it's a Ford GT? no? Aston Martin? Hmmmmm they really nailed all the design cues.

  • is that a whipple supercharger

  • this is comparable to cars at $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 or more. Great Work!

  • It certainly looks much easier to build than IT was before but how does it compare to building an Ultima?

  • @leloodallasmultipass This is what I'm curious about...

How do all kit cars stack up to the Ultima GTR, in all aspects..?

  • I want one but that tranny needs to be beefed up more 600hp just does not cut it, I was thinking more like 900rwhp :D

  • @csgtfaught I am with you.. I would want mininum 700HP or starting at 600wHP..

  • Emission standards are not "problems." Studies from all over the world relate increases in ozone, black carbon, and particulate matter to decreases in vocabulary, reaction times and cognition. For example New York 5 year olds who were exposed to more air pollutants while in the womb had an average of 4 points lower IQ. Love the strive for excellence though.

  • and what exactly is the cost? how much to get one exactly like the yellow one in the vid?

  • @masterchief819 well its a kit car so you build it but if you have some one build it and you do not have a donor car ~30-50K i think

  • wanna build this car with a sbf thatd be BA screw the corvete stuff

  • Jesus Christ! It's a kit car with a luxury car interior! Absolutely no weak points on this car (assuming you can build it, that is).

  • I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!

  • OH MY GOD!!!! That is the greatest ive ever seen. your getting a ferrari killer for the price of a ford focus. This is incredible. WOW my heads about to explode.

  • when you buy the car from the website do you get all the parts or do you have to go find some

  • @7upbottlesdown You need to find a C5 corvette for a few suspension things, brakes, the motor, and ECM. But other than that you need a transaxle and 200 hours of free time.

  • @nallen100

Your car wuld have gaps like that too if the hood was popped open.

  • id expect a little better fitment for a $20,000 fiberglass body

  • the front fenders look like shit. they dont fit at all. pause at 6:31 and check the gap.

  • @nallen100 The front hatch is open dumbass..

  • @TheMrhoneycutt yea thats why the photoshoot pic at 4:05 has the same gap. yea im sure they left the hood open through the photoshoot. fuck off. check out some other vids, same gap just all a little different, hence quality. this car runs 20k for some steel tube and fiberglass, no motor, no suspension, no interior. kind of crazy if u ask me.

  • @kaylynne88 look at 6:03. gap looks normal. the quality all depends on who builds the car. the car runs the price because of the engineering behind it. it is technically a competitor of any Ferrari or Porsche based on power, weight, aerodynamics, and skid pad results. it does come with an interior and the only suspension components you need are the control arms from a c5 vette (cheap). you and all the people bitching about its "quality" are people who probably can't afford one anyway.

  • why is the steering wheel mounted wrong?

  • FFR is known for making Ford replicas and is pushing Chevy engines... It's disheartening. But great cars none the less.

  • @MustangsCanTurnToo Yeah, but if you want a 6spd tranny, you could get a GT Recardo and bolt a 5.4L Ford engine on it. It would be much better than the LS engines.

  • @112namrepus I've seen 5.4 engine swaps done in mustangs and the results are disappointing. The 5.4 iron block is very heavy and I'd hate to upset the balance of the car both in terms of handling and the suspension. I like what Capstone has done and turned this car into a hybrid powered by microturbines. Hate to say it but that's the way of the future.

  • it looks sooo ford gt...

  • When I hit the lottery, I am getting one... I dont have to hit the lottery for millions... just enough to cover the cost of my debt and this car!

  • Hi

first I like to complement you for a greate car. Im totaly sold in the design. But I could not find any real information about safety? Do you got any more details in form of safety and such. what happends in case of an accident?

  • @Deffe200SX Guessing from the steel tube chassis and Simpson belts, it will destroy anything lighter and bounce off anything heavier. Occumants will be disembowled or beheaded by the g-forces.

  • hows the insurance on a car like this?

  • Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to mount an electric motor to each of the rear wheels and convert this to an electric car? I was looking for a project to make an electric car from scratch, and this looks like an awesome place to begin with... Also, would it be possible to fabricate the chassis from aluminum to cut weight?

  • @psych0hans

Of course it would be possible to use electric power but it would make absolutely no sense whatsoever because by the time you pay for the components to make the car run on electricity; you will have spent more than it would cost you to just go and buy a brand new Chevrolet Volt. There is no need to build the chassis out of aluminum because when the car is completely assembled it only weighs 2,400 lbs, which is well over a thousand pounds lighter than any typical street vehicle.

  • @Casey1821 Hi, Its not about the money I'd save by buying a brand new car, its about the fact that I "built" my own that matters... And when you say 2400lbs, you mean minus the drivetrain right? (read engine+transmission+exhaust etc...)

  • @psych0hans No, 2,400 LBS is the overall curb weight as a complete running vehicle. That curb weight includes the aluminum Chevrolet Small Block that weighs around 400 LBS by itself. This car is designed to be extremely light in order to reduce the overall power to weight ratio of the car. This car is extremely fast when completed using a V8 Chevy engine. It would already be as light as you would ever want a vehicle to be if you were using electric power and not want to carry any extra weight.

  • I would love to build one of these cars, but I agree that it's the cost of getting the body painted that scares the bejesus out of me. It's nice to see you guys taking steps to cut that down.

  • it is a wonderful product! Any chance you'll do a body that sort of reflects the Veyron profile, but with a nice looking nose of your own design?

  • You guys ROCK!

  • Getting GMPP to put together a kit is a nice touch. I don't mind killin' a convertible 'vette with an auto for the project though! If GMPP can beat the price of a used Corvette, that's the way I'll go for sure. It really sounds like you're well on your way to creating a kit that includes everything except the wrenches! Way to go! As soon as I'm finished with my Blazer I'll be placing my order!

  • for the cost of 2 of these to build you cant even buy a ZR1 for that price and you get ferrari enzo beating performance and more reliability and you dont have to be a millionare to own one amazing work FFR

  • Need to thinout the headlights and I'll make mine elecric thank you

  • OMFG!! This is a must have!

I've been a fan of Factory 5 since well before the GTM. The Type 65 coupe has been on my wish list for a long time now, but I think I might bump it down in favor of this Gen 2 GTM. I like all your improvements and think the car really looks great. Moving the vents off the wheel wells did a lot. Thank you so much for the work you've been doing refining your product line. Detroit is definitely in your shadow.

  • What about a 6 speed manual transmission for an option?

  • What is the basic Hr bulid time for this New 2 Gen GTM?

my question I have is this I have a LS-9 Engine would I need to do some mods to make it fit or should I look for a LS-7 ? Also will this new trans work with 800+ RWHP and what about a Keith Black Engines I have one I can have.

  • @radvigor the HP rating of the new transaxle is 650 HP. i would think alot would have to be done to a LS-9 to make it fit since it has a front mounted throttle body. You could use an LS-9 long block and put an Eaton R2300 (basically the same type of supercharger on the LS-9) with a rear facing throttle body, just to make it super easy to install and i bet its cheaper as well

  • @radvigor Some of the "professional" builders say it takes about 200 or so hours to build. Considering there are 2080 hours in a regular work year, that's not a lot of time. That said I'd still double or tripple that time at least. Learning and building at the same time means you'll be building it several times in your head and thinking as far ahead as you can before you even touch a part in that area.

  • can someone who barely know what there doin bulid one of these faily good or basically what im tryin to say is is it easy to build

  • @7upbottlesdown It is fairly hard to build a car. I haven't built a kit but I have built several off-road cars. I would suggest at least moderate skill before even trying to build one. That said my first real project was rebuilding and puting a big block into my Camaro back in HS. It took a long time but it turned out fairly well.(diligence pays off) You gotta start somewhere and if there is something you cant figure out you can always pay someone to do that part.

  • @7upbottlesdown If I were you I would go to the FFR Build School (Howell, Michigan). You won't be building a GTM, but you will learn how to build a Factory Five there. And you'll defenetly learn many of the basics. And just like shananagans5 said, you can always pay someone else to do the parts you can't do. And there is the FFcars forum, too!

  • You guys are one of the best American companies around. I sold my Lotus Esprit and am looking forward to tackling one of these.

  • the whole new transaxle idea is great, 600hp rated 5 speed is awesome, but i was thinking it would be a 6 speed and have a 750hp rating with c5 corvette t-56 transaxle gear ratios.

  • @mattingly50187 I was thinking the same thing. I am sure a 6-speed isn't too far off, but I guess most will have to do with a 5-speed for now.

  • you guys keep this up and ferrari & lamborghini will be taking lessons from you all ~ what i love about this car is it doesn't appear a copy of any other car, it has an orignal design that is truly a classic. that tells me you don't follow, your leading the way to something new & better ~

  • @caesarjamesaugustus at 2:11 doesn't the front end look like an aston martin?

  • @caesarjamesaugustus I don't remember where I read it, but I remember it being said that the GTM was supposed to be a GT40 kit car. However Ford stopped selling licenses for the body shape because the Ford GT was about to release. You can see amazing similarities to the GT40 in the front end of the GTM, but it could be complete internet rumor, too.

  • great stuff, dave. i'm a huge fan and supporter of Factory Five Racing. my dream in life is to win the lotto, show up at your door, and offer to work for free! --FFR #4453

  • How much less expensive is the new trans? That was one of the biggest turn-offs of the last generation... a $5500+ G5 trans.

  • i just need to come back alive from deployment and i'll start my project

  • looks like a NSX (the back part) and Ferrari in the front

  • Thing looks like a bee

  • I just don't like the splitter. I think it should stay flat, not bump up in the center. It would look way better. Plus it would let less air under the car, increasing downforce.

  • ? you guys do a COMPLETE build in house? or just frame and body?

  • He doesnt sound excited about the transmission....

  • great stuff. i can't wait to hear more on the trans.

also had seen the episode with the crate motor & i say the 8k ish for it is a bargain!

    i like the wheels to

  • THE BODY ISNT PANALS!? Its all one piece? fuuuuuuuuuuuuk that... One minor accident and you are fuked. So if your fender gets cracked into pieces you have to replace the body as one piece?

  • @andrefrbk fiberglass is repairable!

  • I am about convinced that I should build one of these now I just need to convince my wife

  • @AreNamesGood : if i had that problem, i would buy her anything she wants first.

  • @AreNamesGood : Butter her up man! you can DO IT!!

  • @AreNamesGood thats always the problem

  • @AreNamesGood its always easier to apologize then to convince
