I have used muzzy 4 blades for as long as they have been out and every deer I have shot has been an expediton to recover! I switched to the very same grim reaper and now its like a walk in the park
I've used Wasp fixed points for almost 10 years now, and have watched every deer drop, with the exception of 1. Which was a bad shot on my part. I did just purchase some Grim Reaper expandables though. Will follow up on what i think.
@joshsdaddy06 Keep me posted. I think you posted on another video that you didn't like the grim reapers. I did have a pack of them that didn't fly right. They were the 1 3/4 ones. The others have done fine. I shot muzzy's for years, but was tired of not having good blood trails. That's the reason I switched. My favorite are the reapers and slick trick magnums. Good luck.
How do these compare to the WASP Jak Hammer SST 1 3/4 cutting broadheads. I have been using the wasps for awhile and I've had deer run 30-40 yards and drop.
@BowHunter585 To be honest with you they are close in design. Either broadhead will do a good job. Wasp is time tested in quality. Grim Reaper has great results in it's short history. I personally like the reapers for there retention design. If I had to pick I'd go reaper all the way. Hope this helps.
@Tcbone1998 Hey thanks for watching. Personally I think Grim Reaper would be better. I'm getting better penetration with the Reapers. I've killed a lot of deer with Muzzy and they are tough, but to me it seems that they aren't as sharp as they used to be. Me and some of my friends stopped using Muzzy's for this very reason. We weren't having blood trails. So in my opinion I'd say either grim reaper or slick trick broadheads will be the best. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
beaneerslsl...unless its a rage.. sorry to burst your bubble bud but i went hunting with my friend.. he shot a buck with the rage and took 2 steps and dropped
@archeryhunter24 I understand many people have had great success with the rage broadheads. My favorite hunting show to watch is Drury Outdoors. That's all they use is rage broadheads. I almost went to them because of the Drury bros. But 3 of my friends shot several deer a piece and either found little blood, no blood, and no deer. I guess that goes with any broadhead though. Thanks for commenting and for watching. Take care my friend.
yelp.. i live by grim reaper after watchin the dvd that came with them... nothing can compare, just watch the steel drum part. lol, but hell yeah Grim Reaper. "Watch Em' Drop."
@ZeroDragondelta9 Hey the bow certainly looks cool. I know martin makes great bows. I've almost bought one several times just to try them out. I have a friend that has one and he loves it. Smooth, accurate, and fast. Personally I don't care for the dual or 2 cam bows. People that I know that have them like them, but some have trouble keeping them tuned. The dual cam causes them to get out of sync. Not everybody has this trouble. If I was going to get a martin I'd get a solo cam one.
hey im just a teenager that would love to get into bowhunting, ive taken hunters ed. and all that good stuff but i have no idea about bow hunting, could you make some starter videos, i would greatly appreciate it.
@brgjm2 Hey there good to hear that you've taken an interest in bow hunting. It may be a while before I can make any beginning bow hunting videos, but I'll try when I get time. For starters, DON'T go and buy an expensive bow or equipment. Go to an archery shop and get measured for your draw length and poundage.. Watch ebay for used bows that will fit you. You can find good used bows at very low prices. Look for one with everything included. I'll continue.
@brgjm2 Continued. You might want to look for a bow that not only adjusts poundage but draw length too, since your still growing. You can shoot not very expensive arrows too. But don't go cheap on your broadheads. Buy quality name brands for broadheads. Since your just getting started don't invest alot of money make sure that you'll like bow hunting. Some people start out with all the high dollar, high tech equipment and find out that they don't even like bow hunting. Try this 4. Keep in touch.
@olmarnow thanks alot man, also if you do videos on firearm hunting, i do small game hunting and my uncle says im a great shot but i cant take down something to large, could you post some videos on that type of things to?
hey man, i watch all your videos and i cant get enough of them.. i watch them all tthe time and i took a nine pointer in indiana the other day during shotgun season.. and after muzzeloader there is another late bow season .. i love these broadheads and my brother also uses them.. but what is the best broadhead to use if your bow is set around 50 pounds. thanks. please get back
@indianaMAN321 In my personal opinion Slick Trick magnum. I used the slick trick magnum 100gr 4blade to kill 2 deer. One ran 40 yards and the other ran 25 yards. AWSOME blood trail. They are RAZOR SHARP. Sharper than Muzzy even. For a 50 pound bow I think that they will be perfect. Hope this helps. Thank you for your kind compliments and for watching my videos. Take Care.
I shoot rage 3-blade, never had a problem with them opening or bad blood trail. Infact the trail is usually on trees and surrounding brush as well as on the ground.
@CRFmxracer Well i use to use the regular muzzy 100's, but after a couple bad blood trails I wanted to change. I do like the grim reaper broadheads, but at the time i made this video i had not tried the muzzy mx 3's. I'm just a fixed blade fan. In my quiver are mx-3's and some g5 t3 broadheads. I'll try both if i get a chance and see which ones i like best. Most of the people I know don't like the rages. They've lost deer with them. My father in law shot a deer with a rage & couldn't find it.
I'm not going to down your video but: For starters blood is thicker than water thus it will "leak" slower. Also, A milk jug can't not be in anyway compared to a deer or any other animal for that matter. When an animal is struck it depends on the diameter of the cut, shot placement, and whether or not the broadhead is pulling the fat tissue and other internals away from the the entry hole. Thus not plugging it. There isn't any genetics, fat tissue, or internals to a milk jug. Test proves nothing.
@ch3vy21 This is just a redneck test. I do understand the milk jug is nothing compared to actual flesh, tissue, muscle, and organs. I was just doing it for fun. But thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not offended by your comment or mad in anyway. All comments are welcome. Thanks for watching. Take care.
shot placement shot placement shot placement....... all heads are good its all about shot placement..... if every shot can hit the heart i can gurantee you guys that they will all have the same blood trails ..... its not possible tho not every shot can be the same and not every deer is the same
I think im gonna shoot the grim reaper this yr haha i hope it shoots like a feild point thaTs all i wanna know. p.s rages suck .. great test clip ima subscribe
@marchzach The deer that I killed the grim reaper with didn't go far at all. Actually I watched the deer crash about 50yrds from where it was shot. The so shoot good. Thanks for commenting and for watching. Good Luck.
@Masterbrannon1 If your bow is tuned properly it really don't matter, but I really like helical. Helical fletched arrows seem to tighten up the groups at longer distances. I've shot both straight and helical and I prefer helical. Be sure your bow is tuned by someone who knows what there doing. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and comment.
expandables cut a bigger hole which lead to more visible blood on the ground.penetration is the problem.if you can get an exit hole w/ an expandable you are going to have a hugeblood trail. when it comes to bone though,i trust muzzy and always will. there are many good broadheads on the market, they all work. each design has its own advantages. a mechanical is a special tool. that should be used by those w/ high kenetic energy imo.its takes more power to drive that axe through a deer
@grapplepin I totally agree. I haven't completely given up on Muzzy. I had a complete pass through with the grim reaper at about 25 yards this past season. I watched the deer drop. I have taken several deer with a Muzzy and if you hit them right you will have a great blood trail, but if it's an ok hit there may be a good blood trail or may not. Muzzy is still a GREAT broadhead. Thanks for you comment.
I don't have any rage broadheads, sorry. I'm really not planning on buying any because some of my friends have had bad results with them. I know many people love them and that's fine, some day I just might change my mind. Thanks.
Great Video! You should do this test with the Rage 2-blade broadhead. I am sure alot of folks would like to how it does compared to the muzzy and grim reaper. Keep the video coming. 5 Stars!
I bought a pack of those and killed two hogs and a yote with them...they worked well...but, I am a Rage 2-blade man myself!!! I have seen and heard of the Grim Reapers not opening on impact.
