I am eager to know more information on meal plans - I have been utilizing numerous DietOramy diet programs regime (found it on Google) for quite a few time now and I am truly losing belly fat and am energized concerning it!
@RichieEvansFan There is 2.83mg per oz or ~34mg per 12 oz can. That would roughly be 5mg per wings serving. "Avoid coffee, tea and soft drinks that contain caffeine. Excessive caffeine has been shown to cause low blood sugar, which can make you crave sugar."(p.83) 5mg would hardly be classified as excessive, and it is less caffeine than is found in the also acceptable 1 tbsp of cocoa powder (8.4mg). If you are sensitive to that level of caffeine, you could also use Diet Rite.
Then don't call them "Buffalo wings" -- that's misleading to people who don't know any better. And since you're adding restricted ingredients from the Atkins Diet and proclaiming it's okay for Atkins... I rest my case.
I'm sorry, but this is just WRONG. The BUFFALO, N.Y. recipe for chicken wings (we don't call them "Buffalo Wings," just like people from Philadelphia don't call it "Philly Cheese Steak") is: 1. wings; 2. 1 cup Frank's; 3. 1 stick butter; 4. NOTHING ELSE. The traditional wing recipe also is 100% okay for the Atkins Diet. Anything else is just "chicken with some weird sauce on it."
@RichieEvansFan Just like every other food in the world, the Buffalo sauce grew beyond its roots. No matter how Buffalo people like their wings, they've given up the right to determine what is correct wings and what isn't. Otherwise, there would be people picketing every single Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in the U.S.
Sorry you can't turn back time or keep everyone in the Buffalo bar's recipe constraints. BTW - I have tried the original, and this is much better.
@bobclark17 The sauce that cooked the raw wings was being kept simmering (~200F degrees) throughout the entire cooking cycle (15+ minutes), which is more than high enough to kill any food bourne illnesses.
Buffalo wings really are a great dish. I like my food, really, really spicy so I tend to make the sauce with equal parts Blair's after death and butter. Hot, but delicious.
Combined with a good, homemade blue cheese dressing there really is no better dish. It's stuff like that that makes me love the diet.
And for all you UK people, there is diet cola out there that's flavoured with sucralose. Tesco "Premium Diet Cola" has Sucralose as an ingredient. The cheaper ones do not.
Really delicious looking recipe. I can't wait to try it. Also, I've seen your goal video and it is really inspiring. Keep up the great work. (I'm gonna go subscribe now.)
@jxr955 This is still one of my favorite ways to eat wings 3 years later. The leftover sauce also works well as salad dressing or as a sauce for other dishes. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Frank's hot sauce is awesome! I just use equal parts butter to hot sauce and slather up those chicken chunks. Grill them off at the end for some nice crispy charr.
I *love* how you cook! You are a little disorganized, you don't have some assistant prepping every ingredient so I can see what brands you use (most of the time), your cooking utensils don't match and there's a dog barking in the background... I feel right at home! lol I made the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo and that was my fave! Until I made the Chicken Paillard, then that was my fave. Can't wait to try these wings!
@ElaineEC I think I cook more like a line cook that has been displaced into a kitchen not necessarily setup for cooking. On the line, usually one just assumes things are within reach or where they should be. In a family kitchen, they often are where they fit or where the last person left them. There are those with everything perfect -- the perfect utensil, the perfect pans, the perfect serving trays. I like to think I am a bit more "real" than that or at least what most experience.
@ElaineEC Whatever the case, I am just glad people still find it interesting, entertaining, or at least informative after 5 years of making these videos.

Thank you for answering me so quickly in regards to the buffalo wings, I appreciate it!! we tried them tonite and they were good!! I found a diet cola with splenda it was the weight watchers brand!!
@armymomsb I am glad you were able to find one, and that you liked the recipe. It is still my favorite way to eat wings. I love the sauce later on my salads tool.
Whats the low down on the buffalo wings?? how many carbs etc? I couldnt find the info and I ws unable to find diet coke that wasnt aspartane sweetened.
@armymomsb There are essentially no carbs in the Buffalo Wings. There's a little in the soy sauce and onions, but per serving would be less than one carb.
As for the Diet Coke with Splenda, here are some other brands to look for:
Pepsi One, Diet RC Cola, Diet Rite, Jones Soda, Diet Hansen, and Zevia. Many store brands also feature sucralose as its sweetener as opposed to aspartame too.
Made these for dinner tonight. They were awesome. The sauce was different than we're used to but they were great anyway. Had some celery and blue cheese dressing and smashed cauliflower (blended cooked cauli with cream cheese, sour cream and a little cheese) along with the wings and it was fabulous. Boy am I stuffed! Thanks Kent for your wonderful recipes.
@pennylane7070 You are very welcome. I enjoy sharing them with my viewers. Your supper definitely sounds better than mine -- ate out at a local restaurant. I am glad you liked them.
@bouncieboy1027 Yes I try to explain the (IF) in the video description where used as Induction Friendly. If it has an asterisk (IF*), it means a tweak is required to make it as such.
@bowulf Buffalo sauce contains three ingredients: Cayenne based hot sauce, butter, and vinegar. It doesn't contain dried onion, cola, soy sauce as you put in it. If you add anything other than the standard three ingredients, it fails to be called buffalo sauce.
@Calbenmike Sorry -- you fail. You can have whatever definition you want, but if you are seriously going to say something isn't buffalo sauce because it improves upon the original, you need a better life or higher things on your concern list.
@Calbenmike well if you also want to be politically correct, buffalo wings are also breaded in flour...now if you try breading chicken in flax meal or almond meal good luck with trying to fry it and still tasting like buff wings. They taste like buff wings but aren't exactly buff wings; these are low carb atkins friendly wings that you can eat if you crave buff wings
Looks great, would love to try it - can I make them in a regular frying pan? I still want to coat them in the sauce for 5 min the way you did first, love the Coke idea.

KEEP IT UP BOWULF!!! LET THES IDIOTS BE IDIOTS THAT DOCTOR MADE THIS DIET BECAUSE HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT what people get confused with atkins is they dont pay attention to all the phases where u do eventually add back other foods they just say oh that meat cheese diets and never read the dam book or searched the diet idiots!!
@healthierme1 You can only attempt to educate the ignorant, but at some point, they'll either choose to educate themselves or stay in their ignorance. I am glad you like the recipes. :-)
@GothChilde6969 due to not regulating your cholesterol...you can do that simply by eating low cholesterol food such as fish, soybeans as well as other cholesterol reducing foods and taking vitamins regularly...okay this is HYPOTHETICALLY what people are SUPPOSED to be doing regardless if they are trying to lose or maintain weight for a healthy lifestyle
you would die of a heart attack too if you ate a steak breakfast every morning
@MikroBadass Not necessarily. Dietary cholesterol has very little to do with serum cholesterol. A just steak and eggs breakfast would have no more to do with heart attack than a mango and banana breakfast.
thank you Bowulf I LOST 40 POUNDS IN TWO MONTHS got so much energy feel so good not hungry exerciseing but people who is being negative stay n the drive threw with FRIED FOODS AND SODA DUM ASSES!!
thank you @metsfan784 I LOST 40 POUNDS IN TWO MONTHS got so much energy feel so good not hungry exerciseing but people who is being negative stay n the drive threw with FRIED FOODS AND SODA DUM ASSES!!
@williamtword ... try a NO fat diet with NO carbs to force your body to burn its own fat.. Thats a diet YOU are afraid to do and you know THATS how you lose the pounds fast
@metsfan784 I laugh at people who allow their own bias to so cloud their observation that they don't even see I have lost 211 POUNDS by eating these fatty wings and the Atkins Diet..
PS - Fatty foods are a good thing on a diet that fuels one's body on fat.
@bowulf ... i understand that fat is used as fuel and thats why eating fatty foods are not for everybody. if your using an external source of fat as fuel then you cant burn away your own fat storage. What works for you won't work for many others.
@metsfan784 If you are using dietary fat as fuel, your body is geared to consume other fat as fuel too. Consuming your foolish no fat and no carb diet would cause the body to miss essential fatty acids the body can't produce itself. It also causes a condition called Rabbit Starvation from protein poisoning and over consumption. There's a reason medical professionals suggest a ketogenic (high fat) diet and not a high protein diet.
As for what works me, millions have succeeded on low carb diets.
@metsfan784 Heck my videos and the diet are more popular in 2010 than 2009 as more people saw the success of others that preceeded them. 6 years at goal for me, and excellent blood work and annual physicals as a result of this diet.
The only thing unique about my weight loss was perhaps the years and number of pounds of abuse my body took before I wised up and realized how healthy and delicious I could be eating rather than be tortured on Low Calorie / Low Fat diets with little success.
well i subscribed to your video and since i do most of the cooking in my house both my boyfriend and I have decided maybe it's time to make a diet change to not only be healthier, but have more energy for my little girl. Perhaps I will start this atkins diet thing soon.
@dragonlion5161 I definitely wish the best for you, and this was honestly the easiest diet for me to follow. I love these meals, and the appetite suppression made it easy to shut off what had been unstoppable hunger. If you do decide to start, let me know if I can help. :-)
Disregard my question about induction friendly. I didn't see the drop down box below the video before I asked. I really enjoy your videos! Thank you again. -Ron
Nice video. I would love to try this. Is it induction friendly? If so approximately how many carbs and what serving size. Thanks for your commitment and helping so many people enjoy this diet. -Ron
@trini4eve9 Well it is apparent that my counters will never meet your approval if the presence of a pen, a computer, and GASP paper offends your spatial sensibilities. Good luck with other cooking videos.
@bowulf That trini guy is a complete idiot.. obviously doesn't pay attention to anything. It's clear that you are cutting the wings on a cutting board and no on paper. I've followed your videos for quite a while and know you always wash your hands. I also know a lot of people who cook with the recipe near by on a piece of paper. I am writing the recipe to try it out tomorrow.
@rpmsfpr Yeah, it was pretty obvious the guy was just trolling for attention. Some times it is fun to play with the trolls, and I know my true fans know my attention to details.
@bowulf Yeah man, a real troll that trini.. he wrote me back with a nice display of low manners.. I looked at his profile page and you can see the guy has no class. By the comments other have left I can tell he goes around "trolling" with everyone. Real loser and he is only 20yrs old. His elevator does'nt reach the top floor.
@bowulf LOL.. "fun to play w/ trolls". I was wondering why u were following that dude up. Anyway, U did a fantastic job preparing the wings Bowulf. I enjoyed it!!
@trini4eve9 You should watch the food channel or for that matter, Julia Child and Chef Peppin....many times they do things you may consider unacceptable...
I suggest you splatter your chicken wings with hand sanitizer, that should give you a peace of mind
@trini4eve9 Why didn't you post the comment you sent me so everyone can see what an idiot that you are. In my 54 years I've never read such stupidity as the crap that comes out of your little brain... you are better off drinking the hand sanitizer straight up. .. You can respond any way you want and Im not replying because is obvious that you are not an intelligent being ... good ridance my friend.
@trini4eve9 now that I look at your channel I can understand the kind of hatred in your heart. No one single person has a good comment to say about you... you are an insignificant human being... and you are only 20yrs old?? You poor soul.
I want to ask I am just starting can you reccomend what I should buy. I have a lot to lose and I am patient. If you help me I will post the before and after videos.. I have a lot of knee and back pain losing weight will help so I am motivated. Plus I like your style of videos you really know what you are doing...keep up the good work...
@seanviv2 Just a question on what you mean "what should I buy?" In terms of food or how to start?. If it's the latter, I'd suggest you watch my "Atkins Diet Quick Hits - How do I start? " video here on Youtube. It's my attempt on how one should prepare to start to the diet, and get everything in order.
As for what to buy for food, check out my "Can I eat this?" video. In the video, I have links to the Acceptable Foods List and rules of Induction. All my Induction Friendly recipe are marked IF.
ATKINS DIET DOESNT WORK!!!! I have heard it from SO many sources. I understand nutrition is VERY confusing, but I would highly advise you look into other diets and schools of nutrutional thought especially "Eat to Live" by Joel Furhman, and I am pretty sure you need more plant based meals. There is a National Geograpric Article on obesity also disclaims Atkins...and just cause you lost weight doesnt mean you are at your optimal ability to thrive
@darkchocolate100 Let's see my weight dropped, every single of my heart risk factor dropped from cholesterol to triglycerides to blood pressure, my kidney and liver function improved, my energy is through the roof, my blood glucose has normalized, and my exercise performance has excelled in the last 5 years to the point I am running marathons and lifting more weight now than ever before.
Exactly where isn't it working?
For hearing from "SO many sources," I'd encourage you to find new sources.
@darkchocolate100 Heck browse the latest studies and watch my misconception series of videos, you'll find multiple examples of science proving what I discovered every day of my life. Eliminating the refined carbohydrates and limiting total carbohydrates to simply non-starchy vegetables and some fruits helps turn back time and return one's body to how it was meant to function.
"National Geograpric (sic) Article" is not necessarily the highest of sources. I'll take studies and anecdotal evidence
@TheDollkey If Frank's isn't available, then pick any cayenne (or red) pepper sauce. You may have to add a bit more vinegar to it or doctor it a bit more, but you should be fine.
@mavericksmommy81 There are lots of different name for it and to be honest the one I own is no name brand from Ebay. It's worked well enough for me, but someone else to be safe, I'd advise a brand like EZ-Sweetz or Sweetzfree. You can buy either at Amazon or Netrition, but my Ebay one was like a quarter the cost.
@mamasuify There are basically no Calories to it. (Maybe 10 Calories, 2g at most depending on the amount of wings for just the sauce) The wings nutritional information is per 4 wing pieces - 220 Calories, 13g Fat, 19g Protein. 0g Carb.
As for my fryer, I prefer either a Waring Pro Fryer or GE brand. (4 liter or more oil capacity is important.)
@stangcrazygirl YOu could bake or broil these, but I don't think these specific ones would be as good. My other buffalo wing recipe posted here would work great. Another idea on these would be to grill them or put them on George Foreman.
@DakotaJanes Heating Diet Coke with a heat stable artificial sweetener like Splenda is safe. Heating Diet Coke with aspartame is unsafe, which is why diet coke that sits in an overheated car is undrinkable.
I made this recipe, and it is really good. I might suggest to be conservative with the soy sauce though, the sauce (to me anyway) can be really salty. I couldn't find splenda diet coke, so instead I used Pepsi One, friggin every diet soda out there uses Aspartame.
I decided to start on Atkins and see how it works for me, I'm sure it is all water weight but after the first day I lost 3 lbs.
@xxGing Normally, I am not too picky about brands with most things, but Soy Sauce is one thing that i do believe the brand matters. I only use Kikkoman brand as none other works or tastes as well. Or perhaps I am just tasted too many foul ones like La Choy.
@Imamultimillionaire The actual preferred method with these wings is to grill them. I think you could perhaps achieve similar results either baking and then broiling them or spraying them with PAM and rotating them. I don't think the results will be as good, but they'll be ok.
@sedcher3 Actually they have a thick rich sauce over top - the collagen breaking down in the wings makes the sauce very sticky and is quite delicious. Check out 10:02 for better photo of how much sauce there is.
I missed the part about the diet coke. What's wrong with using regular diet coke with aspartame? The can says there are no carbs, so I've been drinking a ton of it.
@videojubito Sorry but America actually has a very diverse food culture. I don't know what you're talking about because these wings are awesome. Also, if your going to watch an American make American food, lets not bash or put down the person.
@videojubito Agreed, no wonder why they all end up dying in a hospital bed. They always have to fry everything and drown it in fat, salt and sugar, and of course vegetables is a big no no. If they do add vegetables, they fry them or cook them to death killing all the vitamins. And btw, low carb/fat food and sugar free food is just a huge marketing scam. It has the opposite effect.
@CaptEm1 More ignorant trappings of the uninformed... I would suggest you educate yourself, but I am sure you'll want to keep your head buried in the sand and refuse to acknowledge the mounting scientific evidence.
Until then I 'll keep being healthy, running marathons, eating Atkins, and actually having more vegetables than ever before.
@bowulf I hope so. I cringe every time I see americans eat, it's just to see sad how they abuse their bodies like that. You seem to be eating a lot of meat though ( fried is the worst), and doing that will cause cancer and heart disease no matter how thin you are. And why don't you use fresh vegetables instead of that dried fake powder stuff?
@CaptEm1 Actually risk factors heart disease, CVD, and cancer decrease on the Atkins Diet. Check out the multiple studies linked in my misconception series on the topics for proof of my statements.
Have you seen my other recipes and the fresh vegetables used? Picking on one recipe non-consequential ingredient for a sauce seems picking nits.
@CaptEm1 Pick any country and there will be some citizens that are not health consciousness, but you can't generalize everyone of that country for it. Your alarmed by what you see because you're not familiar with a low carb lifestyle. The real enemy is carbs, the overindulgence of that is the cause of many diseases as diabetes, heart disease and so on. Carbs are relatively still new to mankind and has been a problem ever since there inception.
I'm not meaning this in a mean way (just out of concern), but any diet that says it's bad to eat a lot of fruit but good to eat a lot of buffalo wings should be considered suspect. This is not a healthy way to live. Sure, you're losing weight, but your arteries and health could suffer long term
@shiz1246 Oh I don't mind critiques, but the question comes what is the result of eating a lot of those foods. Eating fruit can dump huge amount of fructose into your system and cause blood glucose and insulin spikes. How many times have you eaten grapes mindlessly until the whole bunch was gone.
As for Buffalo Wings what is the danger? Your body starts to tell you "you're full" after a bunch. As for arteries, Atkins followers show less atherosclerosis, cholesterol, and better health.
@rosuabsc I hear you -- it used to be wings were cheap - $1.50 a pound, lately they have been over $2-2.50 a pound. I might have to start buying whole chickens just to get the wings off. Too many low carbers discovering the greatness of buffalo wings... :-D
Thanks I really appreciate it. I'm not sure that aspartame (in Diet Coke) should be cooked... so I try to avoid it. But I am a freak about ribs. I really appreciate your suggestions! Congratulations on your amazing weight loss and continued support of the Atkins community.
Remember I said specifically "Diet Coke with Splenda" because I absolutely agree aspartame-sweetened version should not be cooked. (Truth be told, I don't think it should be drank either. :-) ) Sucralose and Ace K in the DC w Splenda is heat stable and should be fine.
I'm an avid Atkins girl... and I love wings. I soak wings in Hot sauce (o carbs) for a day or so... then I grill them. They are not too hot... and the grill crisps the skin. They are really delicious and zero carb..... but I'd love a good rib recipe for low carb that doesnt use diet cola....
I am a big dry rub guy... I take most original dry rub recipes dump the brown sugar, double or triple paprika content, and add tbs or so of granulated Splenda. Throw some liquid smoke on the ribs as it cooks, and you are golden.
i am a big fan of your recipes, bowulf! i decided to try this recipe today. i could not find diet coke with splenda anywhere so i used diet rite instead. the artificial sweetener taste in the wings was overpowering. what would you suggest i use instead of diet coke with splenda? thanks!
I bought some Diet Rite today and discovered the same thing (overly sweet). Diet RC Cola is much less sweet, so you might try to find that in the soda aisle. Many store brands and Jones Soda are also sweetened with Splenda as well. An alternative would be to still use the Diet Rite, but use only half (8 oz) the original amount and increase the Frank's Sauce amount as well.
So this meens i can have as many as i want during Induction. Now i usually make the second recipe cause its easier, so is that recipe and eat till satisfied aswell

Thank you for answering me so quickly in regards to the buffalo wings, I appreciate it!! we tried them tonite and they were good!! I found a diet cola with splenda it was the weight watchers brand!!
armymomsb 11 months ago
@armymomsb I am glad you were able to find one, and that you liked the recipe. It is still my favorite way to eat wings. I love the sauce later on my salads tool.
bowulf 11 months ago
Whats the low down on the buffalo wings?? how many carbs etc? I couldnt find the info and I ws unable to find diet coke that wasnt aspartane sweetened.
armymomsb 11 months ago
@armymomsb There are essentially no carbs in the Buffalo Wings. There's a little in the soy sauce and onions, but per serving would be less than one carb.
As for the Diet Coke with Splenda, here are some other brands to look for:
Pepsi One, Diet RC Cola, Diet Rite, Jones Soda, Diet Hansen, and Zevia. Many store brands also feature sucralose as its sweetener as opposed to aspartame too.
bowulf 11 months ago
Made these for dinner tonight. They were awesome. The sauce was different than we're used to but they were great anyway. Had some celery and blue cheese dressing and smashed cauliflower (blended cooked cauli with cream cheese, sour cream and a little cheese) along with the wings and it was fabulous. Boy am I stuffed! Thanks Kent for your wonderful recipes.

These are not buffalo wings.
Calbenmike 1 year ago
@Calbenmike Yes, you discovered my secret. They are secretly plain chicken wings in their Buffalo sauce camouflage.
bowulf 1 year ago
@bowulf Buffalo sauce contains three ingredients: Cayenne based hot sauce, butter, and vinegar. It doesn't contain dried onion, cola, soy sauce as you put in it. If you add anything other than the standard three ingredients, it fails to be called buffalo sauce.
Calbenmike 1 year ago
@Calbenmike Sorry -- you fail. You can have whatever definition you want, but if you are seriously going to say something isn't buffalo sauce because it improves upon the original, you need a better life or higher things on your concern list.
bowulf 1 year ago
@Calbenmike well if you also want to be politically correct, buffalo wings are also breaded in flour...now if you try breading chicken in flax meal or almond meal good luck with trying to fry it and still tasting like buff wings. They taste like buff wings but aren't exactly buff wings; these are low carb atkins friendly wings that you can eat if you crave buff wings

MikroBadass 11 months ago
@MikroBadass Not necessarily. Dietary cholesterol has very little to do with serum cholesterol. A just steak and eggs breakfast would have no more to do with heart attack than a mango and banana breakfast.

metsfan784 1 year ago
@metsfan784 I laugh at people who allow their own bias to so cloud their observation that they don't even see I have lost 211 POUNDS by eating these fatty wings and the Atkins Diet..
PS - Fatty foods are a good thing on a diet that fuels one's body on fat.
bowulf 1 year ago
@bowulf ... i understand that fat is used as fuel and thats why eating fatty foods are not for everybody. if your using an external source of fat as fuel then you cant burn away your own fat storage. What works for you won't work for many others.
metsfan784 1 year ago
@metsfan784 If you are using dietary fat as fuel, your body is geared to consume other fat as fuel too. Consuming your foolish no fat and no carb diet would cause the body to miss essential fatty acids the body can't produce itself. It also causes a condition called Rabbit Starvation from protein poisoning and over consumption. There's a reason medical professionals suggest a ketogenic (high fat) diet and not a high protein diet.
As for what works me, millions have succeeded on low carb diets.
bowulf 1 year ago
@metsfan784 Heck my videos and the diet are more popular in 2010 than 2009 as more people saw the success of others that preceeded them. 6 years at goal for me, and excellent blood work and annual physicals as a result of this diet.
The only thing unique about my weight loss was perhaps the years and number of pounds of abuse my body took before I wised up and realized how healthy and delicious I could be eating rather than be tortured on Low Calorie / Low Fat diets with little success.

There is a National Geograpric Article on obesity also disclaims Atkins...and just cause you lost weight doesnt mean you are at your optimal ability to thrive
darkchocolate100 1 year ago
@darkchocolate100 Let's see my weight dropped, every single of my heart risk factor dropped from cholesterol to triglycerides to blood pressure, my kidney and liver function improved, my energy is through the roof, my blood glucose has normalized, and my exercise performance has excelled in the last 5 years to the point I am running marathons and lifting more weight now than ever before.
Exactly where isn't it working?
For hearing from "SO many sources," I'd encourage you to find new sources.
bowulf 1 year ago
@darkchocolate100 Heck browse the latest studies and watch my misconception series of videos, you'll find multiple examples of science proving what I discovered every day of my life. Eliminating the refined carbohydrates and limiting total carbohydrates to simply non-starchy vegetables and some fruits helps turn back time and return one's body to how it was meant to function.
"National Geograpric (sic) Article" is not necessarily the highest of sources. I'll take studies and anecdotal evidence

@mavericksmommy81 There are lots of different name for it and to be honest the one I own is no name brand from Ebay. can you give the carbs/nutrition ifo? this sounds really good so i will try it. what kind of fryer did you use?
mamasuify 1 year ago
@mamasuify There are basically no Calories to it. (Maybe 10 Calories, 2g at most depending on the amount of wings for just the sauce) The wings nutritional information is per 4 wing pieces - 220 Calories, 13g Fat, 19g Protein. 0g Carb.
As for my fryer, I prefer either a Waring Pro Fryer or GE brand. (4 liter or more oil capacity is important.)

stangcrazygirl 1 year ago
@stangcrazygirl YOu could bake or broil these, but I don't think these specific ones would be as good. My other buffalo wing recipe posted here would work great. Another idea on these would be to grill them or put them on George Foreman.
bowulf 1 year ago
I just want you to know that heating any kind of Coke or Pepsi is lethal. Several people have died doing this in the UK. Good luck!
DakotaJanes 1 year ago
@DakotaJanes Heating Diet Coke with a heat stable artificial sweetener like Splenda is safe. Heating Diet Coke with aspartame is unsafe, which is why diet coke that sits in an overheated car is undrinkable.
bowulf 1 year ago
I made this recipe, and it is really good. I might suggest to be conservative with the soy sauce though, the sauce (to me anyway) can be really salty. I couldn't find splenda diet coke, so instead I used Pepsi One, friggin every diet soda out there uses Aspartame.
I decided to start on Atkins and see how it works for me, I'm sure it is all water weight but after the first day I lost 3 lbs.
xxGing 1 year ago
@xxGing Normally, I am not too picky about brands with most things, but Soy Sauce is one thing that i do believe the brand matters. I only use Kikkoman brand as none other works or tastes as well. Or perhaps I am just tasted too many foul ones like La Choy.

Imamultimillionaire 1 year ago
@Imamultimillionaire The actual preferred method with these wings is to grill them. I think you could perhaps achieve similar results either baking and then broiling them or spraying them with PAM and rotating them. I don't think the results will be as good, but they'll be ok.

Thanks
iDrum841 1 year ago
@videojubito Agreed, no wonder why they all end up dying in a hospital bed. They always have to fry everything and drown it in fat, salt and sugar, and of course vegetables is a big no no. If they do add vegetables, they fry them or cook them to death killing all the vitamins. And btw, low carb/fat food and sugar free food is just a huge marketing scam. It has the opposite effect.
CaptEm1 1 year ago
@CaptEm1 More ignorant trappings of the uninformed... I would suggest you educate yourself, but I am sure you'll want to keep your head buried in the sand and refuse to acknowledge the mounting scientific evidence.
Until then I 'll keep being healthy, running marathons, eating Atkins, and actually having more vegetables than ever before.
bowulf 1 year ago
@bowulf I hope so. I cringe every time I see americans eat, it's just to see sad how they abuse their bodies like that. You seem to be eating a lot of meat though ( fried is the worst), and doing that will cause cancer and heart disease no matter how thin you are. And why don't you use fresh vegetables instead of that dried fake powder stuff?
CaptEm1 1 year ago
@CaptEm1 Actually risk factors heart disease, CVD, and cancer decrease on the Atkins Diet. Check out the multiple studies linked in my misconception series on the topics for proof of my statements.
Have you seen my other recipes and the fresh vegetables used? Picking on one recipe non-consequential ingredient for a sauce seems picking nits.
bowulf 1 year ago
@CaptEm1 Pick any country and there will be some citizens that are not health consciousness, but you can't generalize everyone of that country for it. Your alarmed by what you see because you're not familiar with a low carb lifestyle. The real enemy is carbs, the overindulgence of that is the cause of many diseases as diabetes, heart disease and so on. Carbs are relatively still new to mankind and has been a problem ever since there inception.

HeavyVerbzz 1 year ago
@HeavyVerbzz Yep - google "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution" -- it's the diet that popularized low carb eating.
bowulf 1 year ago
I'm not meaning this in a mean way (just out of concern), but any diet that says it's bad to eat a lot of fruit but good to eat a lot of buffalo wings should be considered suspect. This is not a healthy way to live. Sure, you're losing weight, but your arteries and health could suffer long term
shiz1246 1 year ago
@shiz1246 Oh I don't mind critiques, but the question comes what is the result of eating a lot of those foods. Eating fruit can dump huge amount of fructose into your system and cause blood glucose and insulin spikes. How many times have you eaten grapes mindlessly until the whole bunch was gone.
As for Buffalo Wings what is the danger? Your body starts to tell you "you're full" after a bunch. As for arteries, Atkins followers show less atherosclerosis, cholesterol, and better health.
bowulf 1 year ago

Remember I said specifically "Diet Coke with Splenda" because I absolutely agree aspartame-sweetened version should not be cooked. (Truth be told, I don't think it should be drank either. :-) ) Sucralose and Ace K in the DC w Splenda is heat stable and should be fine.

I'm an avid Atkins girl... and I love wings. I soak wings in Hot sauce (o carbs) for a day or so... then I grill them. They are not too hot... and the grill crisps the skin. They are really delicious and zero carb..... but I'd love a good rib recipe for low carb that doesnt use diet cola....
cckysc 1 year ago
I am a big dry rub guy... I take most original dry rub recipes dump the brown sugar, double or triple paprika content, and add tbs or so of granulated Splenda. Throw some liquid smoke on the ribs as it cooks, and you are golden.

i am a big fan of your recipes, bowulf! i decided to try this recipe today. i could not find diet coke with splenda anywhere so i used diet rite instead. the artificial sweetener taste in the wings was overpowering. what would you suggest i use instead of diet coke with splenda? thanks!
PogSensei 1 year ago
I bought some Diet Rite today and discovered the same thing (overly sweet). Diet RC Cola is much less sweet, so you might try to find that in the soda aisle. Many store brands and Jones Soda are also sweetened with Splenda as well. An alternative would be to still use the Diet Rite, but use only half (8 oz) the original amount and increase the Frank's Sauce amount as well.
