Here's my problem with this whole episode. At first Shinji and Asuka fought the angel, and failed due to its attack style, so they decided to spend like a few days practicing their synchronized fighting technique n' shit, but like

Did it just sit around and wait for them to be well trained enough to take it down :s ?

They dropped a N^2 bomb on it and it had to recover.. Hence the time they got to practiec.
