My parents loved watching Kojak in the 70s. They were immigrants and Kojak appealed to us. At first we couldn't tell if he was Syrian, Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, Italian or some combo of Mediterranean ethnicity. We could relate to his style. Even when we found out his character was Greek, visiting relatives from abroad would say, "Hey, whose that Syrian on the television?" lol, we loved Kojak.
