  • In 1975, the Environmental Fund warned" The World as we know it will likely be ruined by the year 2000." Harvard University biologist George Wald in 1970 warned, "civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind." That was the same year that Sen. Gaylord Nelson warned, that by 1995 "somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct." Doomsayers have always been wrong.

  • I say it over and over.. no need to protest, write or yell at our reps. no need to go to jail or any of that...just do the one thing they fear...QUIT BUYING CORPORATE GOODS! BOYCOTT!...hello?

  • @uturniaphobic Indeed, hit where it hurts... Silver & Gold...

  • @uturniaphobic

    "QUIT BUYING CORPORATE GOODS! BOYCOTT!...hello?."

If that's as easy as you say it is, PB would have been out of business long ago.

List three boycott success stories in past 3 years. If you can show me, then I'll believe you.

    Hello?

  • @allgoo19 Germany did some boycotting back in the late 1930s or so. But you're right. to bring down one of these giants would require really well-organized (even aggressive) boycotting. I'm surprised I don't see more of it. it really is our most powerful way to stop abuses. empty their till.

  • @uturniaphobic

"it really is our most powerful way to stop abuses.."

But you have nothjing to back it up? How rational is that?

    Keep dreaming.

  • @allgoo19 yes I mentioned Germany boycotting in the 1930s I left out specifics. But how about the Coal Mining wars right here in the US back in about 1890s or so in Virginia. it came to an actual war and ended in mining unions which subsequently (like all else) became corrupt too. Strikes are labor boycotts. Refusing to buy from a place is consumer boycott. We need that one. Imagine a website so powerful that if a corp names winds up on it the shareholders panic and bail. instant death.

  • @uturniaphobic

"yes I mentioned Germany boycotting .."

You are talking about something worked once or twice(not yet confirmed) in a hundred years and claiming it's a effective tool?

    Get real.

Name 3 of them happened int last 3 years, that was my original request.

    I'm waiting.

  • @allgoo19 I suggest watch Greece, Ireland, Spain, perhaps England too. not sure what the outcomes will be. but it should be interesting.

to be "real" would be to know that standard long-term investing is dead. these companies are possibly more vulnerable now, through trigger happy and tightly-wound traders looking desperately for ways to turn profits by either helping or killing any given corp on any given day. that is real but no one will exploit it because they all seem to think as you do.

  • @uturniaphobic

    "I suggest watch Greece, Ireland.."

Why don't you post some of them real examples if you know them so much?

  • @allgoo19 Well trash is filling up in the streets of Paris. State garbage collectors don't like the new "austerity" rules as many there do not, so they're all on strike right now. is that one ok? but what I'm saying is organized "consumer" boycotting is non-existent and could be the most powerful.

  • A billion blessings of Peace, Love and Light for all of Humankind working tirelessly to preserve the fresh water, land and earth of this great planet. Let us unite

for the sake of all in this NOW moment. Namaste.

  • gee shes hot , i give her global warming .....

  • That woman loves the sound of her own voice. And I have to say she talks a load of shit.

  • This woman is too much of a realistic good person, pointing out who the terrorist are in this world.

  • "The violence of climate change".

People should really think before they speak. Climate change has been happening since the dawn of the earth. Please.

  • @cooperbry

"Climate change has been happening since the dawn of the earth. Please.."

Each time that happened, many species had disappeared.

You want to human to be the next on the list?

  • @allgoo19 Don't worry about it, something is going to kill you, perhaps it will be too much salt in your diet.

I thought the rigged data and climate-gate emails put an end to this nonsense?

  • @cooperbry

"perhaps it will be too much salt in your diet.."

You have no idea how the natural selection works, do you?

It's not the climate change itself that kills the species, it's the starvation caused by the climate change.

One accusation about email is not going to change the facts that backed by evidence you decided to look away.

Google, "Nile sea rising", "Pakistan flood" and not to mention our own Katrina 2005.

  • People who protest corporations are always demonized in the media.

Corporations that take our resources and control our governments aren't even talked about.

  • "EU Carbon Trade Run by Organized Crime, Says Europol"

    EUX TV

  • True, when corporates gets greedy they will by anything.. even invest in child-soldiers and 5 year old diamond-miners.

Just so they can keep selling shiny stones for our fingers and oil for our SUVs. I say we put the largest companies on a leash.

  • Though I have no love for transnational mega-corporations, "Organized Crime" are not 'corporations'. They are Mafia from Italy and eastern Europe. If anything it is corrupt socialist EU governments, not corporations, who are to blame in this instance by allowing criminal gangs to, as usual, flourish unimpeded.

  • True there is a lot of eastern europe mafia stuff happening. If you could legally track them all down and legally bring them to justice, I might vote for you. No, not all EU governments are corrupt. But what we do have is corporate globalization and the middle fase of fascism.

  • yes, all governments are corrupt, some more than others. that is why they don't want to track the mafias down. they are afraid and crime makes money for them too.

And keep in mind that corporations are in bed with government. the divide is an illusion created by the media to fool the public. they all go skiing together when no one is looking.

  • As for "putting the largest companies on a leash", who exactly is "we"?

Sounds ripe for a Marxist dictatorship, which also sucks as a system.

Whatever happened to just leaving people alone to live the life they want?

  • We is citizens, we vote for politicians. They don't appoint them selves, and they can't do whatever they like.

Nah, just because people care about eachother and the planet doesnt mean marxist dictatorship. That shit is old, and reeks of bad stuff (North Korea, China).

Well, corporations dont want to leave people alone, they want their money. What I want is exactly what you say, let people alone. Let them decide together. lts a new system we havent seen yet, dont know if it would work

  • Politicians DO appoint themselves, as far as EU parliament is concerned. Did YOU vote for von rompuy?

    /watch?v=hXWeOa-FuyM&feature=player_embedded

you are from Denmark. You should read the US Constitution. The US doesnt really follow it anymore but it's the greatest document ever written as far as individual liberties are concerned.

  • @ Wildcat. Do you always insult your opponent when you have lost a debate :D LOL. What proof were you talking about? Im a kenyesian capitalist btw. I hate communists too, I belive their ideas are outdated. Are you a market fundamentalist? I hate terrorists don't you?

  • This is proven to be a hoax, & very likely a criminal fraud. I'd leave it alone. The least you will lose is your credibility, the most you will lose is your freedom when indictments start coming down.

  • Naomi: The hoax is over along with the Hitler style take-over of the"NWO"! Climate-Gate is exposed along with the leftist commie scam to fund Al Gore's elitist life-style! Pick another Hoax to back along with Green Sheep and liberal croock-ery!

  • @uhm.. your ideas are funny but not true :) Climategate is a RIGHT WING Corporate funded viral marketing campaign, a so called "false grassroots movement". Sorry, but you ate it. Bait, hook and sink. It is commonly known that Phillip Morris first started this, way back when scientists proved that cancer was caused by smoking. So, joined by others they did everything they could to discredit all science. Tell me, who is a sheep?

  • University of Illinois - Cryosphere Today - Arctic Basin Anomaly Hits Bottom Of Chart - Democratic Underground / This is the actual sea ice extent and shows the earth has actually cooled for the last 9 yrs. and sea-ice has returned to almost normal amounts! This also proves that there is no man-made GW as Naomi and Al Gore would have us believe! This also shows what Al Gore will do to promote his personal gain! Fraud!

  • Well, thats a funny but useless analyse.. Why don't you ask nature: In sweden migrating birds decides not to migrate in winters because of the rising temperatures. The maldives is being engulfed by water because of the rising sea levels. Polar bears is facing exitinction because of melting ice. Just take a look at the north pole and compare it to the size in 1979. It's like denying death, you know it will happen but we think we are immortal :)

  • Haha, somebody actually thumbed you down for providing factual evidence that can't disputed by labeling you a communist. Oh man, we're fucked as a species, and all these crybabies accuse environmentalists of ideological blinders.

  • Protests don't do crap in the USA what we need is a nation wide strike.

STOP for a DAY or two of a week until the government knows we will not put up with the corps running the government.

  • Did the cops agree to non-violence? If the Corps want the news to be about riots, who do you think organizes and pays the agent provocateurs?

  • Naomi would call for a protest on "underwater BB stacking" if it would advance her socialist agenda! Greenpeace and the like want world communism and GW is just a tool to finance it!

  • Pulling out the red scare card, really is starting to get old mr. Mcarthy :) What she is really closer to, is president Roosevelt, the most sucessfull president in the US. They called him dictator and all sorts of rubbish, but it saved your US asses out of the depression. But you probably wish for more Bush-bailing out the rich and wallstreet and let the world burn rage.

  • Just like all lefty liberals, you offer no scientific data to back your comments, just a lot of Commie programed Bull! Over 31,000 scientist have signed a petition saying GW is not Man-Made and is a natural occurrence! Go pedal your Communist bull to Greensheep, they are as dumb as you are!

  • I think you are desperate. I don't know about you, but I would rather trust a real scientist. The 30.000 signers you mention includes Dr. Geraldine Halliwell (a.k.a. "Ginger Spice" of the Spice Girls), and most of the cast of M*A*S*H: Doctors Pierce, McIntyre, Houlihan, Burns and Potter as valid scientists. Now tell, me who is the dumb one here :D

  • your a commie, fag! Proof means nothing to programed sheep!

  • Check Three Myths of the Great Depression by Folsom. You can find it online. Read it (very short) and see if you still think that Roosevelt got us out of the Great Depression. There is a library of articles and books on how the New Deal worsened and prolonged the Depression.

I would argue that most economists agree that the New Deal was terrible. WW2 finally broke the depression because it got a lot of young men out of the working force. It also created a enormous war industry.

  • Naomi: Tell us how Al Gore fights GW by flying around in a fuel guziling private jet, drives a 10 mi.per gal. limo, lives in a huge inefficient mansion in Tenn. He is named after Armand Hammer who owned Oxidental Petroleum and will make billions along with the scientists on cap and trade! How can the world trust a man that does not practice what he preaches?

  • Organized Crime in Charge of EU Carbon Trade, Europol Says

  • Naomi Klein is a tool, for who and what I don't know, but she is clearly someone's tool.

  • How does she get taken seriously? Her predictable positions and insipid rhetoric have been shown to be false and weak in the past. What is her credibility on climate change?

  • @xjaskix...do you understand what the words liberal, nazi, and communism mean?

    Spewing the meme.

Are people to just sit down, shut up and not have an opinion or the freedom to express their opinion nonviolently?

You may not agree with them, but everyone has a voice.

And, whether or not global warming is true-overuse of world resources and how it affects everyone around the world is indeed a real issue...whether or not we want to recognize it...

  • she is obviously liberal nazi like obama and obamacare she doesn´t understand freedom

    say no to liberasm/communism!!

  • @xjaskix How can you be a liberal communist? You do know what liberal and communist means? If not may I suggest that you Google the two? As it stands you sound mighty stupid and ignorant at the moment.

  • Friggen hippies, standing around holding signs gets nothing done.

  • GLOBAL WARMING is

    GLOBAL BULLSHIT

its an excuse to use the taxes to establish

    A ONE WORLD GOVT

    wake up sheep

  • Naomi Klein: a vapid fear-monger who uses educated ignorance to wage war against individual liberty. A good tactical warrior for the cause of statism and government control.

  • "The violence of climate change"...ah the perils of such language. Say what you will about Klein, she is very perceptive about how violent protests can drown out their "message" such as it is.

  • People saying Fora has a left wing bias have something in common with people claiming Fora has a right wing bias: the attention span of a gnat.

Watch long enough - or look at the older videos on Fora's YouTube channel - and you'll see advocates for every political and economic idea with any mainstream following, plus many ideas that would never get any airtime in mainstream media outlets.

If you only want to hear people you agree with, Fora won't make you happy, no matter what your ideology.

  • Fora still uploads videos by the Hoover Institute on a regular basis in fact and people always flood the comment section slamming the site with being run by right wingers.

  • @kevintype

    thank you

  • kevintype:

    I agree with you 100%

The clips that Fora put on YouTube don't even come close to covering the diversity of positions available on their website.

  • Can you please refer to her as activist Noami Klein, and not journalist Noami Klein.

  • Evil Fabian Socialist Agenda.

She is a pied piper leading the RATS.

Why FORATV is even giving her air time is beyond me!

  • "Why FORATV is even giving her air time is beyond me!"

Really? I can understand without even having any kind of offical education in economic. Media companies publish media they think will bring in revenue in some way, either through subscription fees or from advertising. Perhaps you need a better understanding of market economics and it's effects on how institutions operate and behave.

  • @slug99, didn't you know? What stopchemtrails believes is true. Its a law of physics. In fact, the last time he changed his mind, 2 million died in India. Please, chemy, don't do that again!!!!

  • bitch i saw those fuckers breaking windows!

  • These group thinking people are a bunch of cowards..

    Peace

  • Can someone give this chick a brain.

Lady, try learning some engineering and building products that can cut people's co2 if that is what you want. Protesting shows you are clueless and unable to produce.

I say you put YOUR money where YOUR mouth is and stop taking MY money to promote YOUR failed ideas.

By the way, pre industrial co2 was 328 ppm in 1890 AD , not 290 ppm... More data fraud will not help your case.

    Wake up.

  • Did Naomi Klein mug you or something? You should report that shit to the police. I mean "taking MY money", thats serious. It would be a shame if you were being ludicrously hyperbolic.

  • Look france guy,

    When you want a world tax...on me...on you...on my grandchildren yet unborn...that is an assault...NOT hyperbolic...just reality.

Why do you like monopoly? Why do you want to have government COMPETE with private innovators? Why? Because you love to FORCE YOUR opinion down people throats. Can we just get real...and stop the socialist nonsense...stop wanting me to be force to buy your religion...inquisition anybody...wake up...figure out who these thugs are..learn some hisotry

  • Look, needs-to-understand-sentence-structure-guy, you said "stop taking MY money to promore YOUR failed ideas". Naomi Klein doesn't take your stupid money to promote her ideas. So, disagree if you must fulfill some odd desire for self-destructive contrarianism, but at least know what you're disagreeing with. Klein works for herself, and she makes money the good old way, earning it through sales of her product. Waaaaah waaaaah.

  • eirefrance,

Klein advocates tax for CO2... No? She is at the conference to promote...government...NOT innovative products made by PRIVATE investors/innovators. She wants tax money to go to research...to compete with private innovators...

Clearly, you are on the left...you take my words and spin them. You do not discuss in an honest fashion...just like Klein.

Gore earns it by the sale of his "products"... with the aid of government fiat.

    No comment wanted or required.

  • We have C02 quotas in europe, and it works (exept the corruption). It is not dangerous or robs your freedom. We are not the first civilization that faces destruction. But what makes us survive is the ability to adapt and change. Civilizations that were stubborn and conservative died out. This time, its just a lot graver, the whole world is on the line..

  • I spin your words? "stop taking MY money to promote YOUR failed ideas"? I don't think I spun that at all, I think you need to spend a little time working on your written communication skills. You'll find that in today's job market, its an invaluable resource to have.

  • @eirefrance

I am independent millionaire...how about you? I work for myself...I am nobody's slave, or prostitute, like these CRU whores are.

The skill is in finding truth, not in spin, which you rely on.

Cap and Tax is a total waste of time.

My solutions will pull the plug on PV panels, Windturbines, and most of the half baked "green" junk that needs tax money to survive...Gore's investments.

I am working on a solution that will get 80% of the co2 out of the system.

    And you? zero?

  • Whoa, you're an independent millionaire. My apologies, your honor.

    A) I'm not "relying" on any spin, I'm not even making an argument of any kind about global warming. I'm making fun of your inability to distinguish between promoting an idea and the effects of that idea.

    B) Good for you. That doesn't improve your written communication skills. Nor does it make you any more correct then these "CRU whores". Such language, do all independent millionaires talk like that?

  • Eirefrance,

Your envy comes out in every word you type.

    a) I am fully aware of both. You are only making fun of yourself by your inability to make a point...

    b) My writing skills are just fine, evidenced by the fact I made a point and nobody knows what you are talking about.

Envy is a bottomless pit...pull your head out.

Do you know what cures Envy? WORK I know that is a new concept for you...

As everybody knows, people who have lost the debate switch topics to hide that fact.

  • Did you make your millions doing pop psychology on people you haven't met through short context specific comments of less than 500 characters? Because if you did, that would be pretty interesting.

  • Eirefrance,

No, I made it by providing a product/service people voluntarily pay me for gladly.

What do you think I will make providing an engine that can get (on average) 4.6 times the mileage of a GM car? How much will it save in co2? 1/4.6=.21...79%... That is at night...with solar 79%-95% depending on weather. This technology will achieve ALL the goals of COP15 co2 reduction.

Gee, someone has a solution...and all you do is mock... Why? Power. Your ilk seeks power.

    Get a life...

  • I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Marketing is, of course, a key issue, but good luck. And if you invent this, I might even buy it. That doesn't change the fact that you sound like a self-important, pig-headed ass who creates fake ad hominem arguments.

  • uhm.. the US is a monopoly allready, wich the rest of the world has to suffer under :) In fact, the US is a Plutonomy, the ultra rich 1% has more money than 95 % of the american people. To me there is something wrong. But its nice to be in the warm end of the bed right, and snarl at anyone who tries to snatch your blanket.

Well, death has been a fact for many years, no one had to get that fact stuffed. What it all boils down to is do you belive in science or in market fundamentalism?

  • Behold, collective Stockholm-Syndrome!

    The voice of double-speak!

Punk music now sold in Starbucks!

    Demand to be shackled!

    Freedom is slavery!

    Love Big Brother!

    Hail ManBearPig!

  • The great ManBearPig,

half man, half bear, half pig.

  • i thought you were talking about al gore but then i remembered he's 100% hot air.

  • And us Tea Party members incite violence

  • At what point did she "incite violence"? You "Tea Party members" are obviously paranoid lol

  • Making a comparison to what she says and what is actually happening over there

  • She says that organizing leaders of the protest encourage non-escalation of any violent behavior. At the same time, the protest is not as important as the issue that is being discussed at the talks, CLIMATE CHANGE.

She disappointed at the amount of arrests but nevertheless supports the right to protest.

There was no incitement of violence at all.

Tea Baggers have incited violence towards the president (as seen here: watch?v=th0x-QH1ODE& ).

  • I don't deny that likely a few anti-government protestors incited violence against the President. A group that big,it's bound to happen. I find that there's far more nastiness on the left than there is on the right. Much of the anti-Bush protests went way beyond the bounds of decency and I say this as a libertarian who dislikes both Bush and Obama. But,I still am sicken by the way so many lefties cheered Tony Snow's death from cancer. Mostly we,so called,"tea baggers" have been pretty civil.

  • LOL" it's our world and everybody has the right to have their say.... unless your a "global warming holocaust denier"

    ohh poor pooor fool....

  • poor fool...

lol "people were arrested!" and yet, she wants to give governments more power and more control...

    poor poor fool...

  • "...and yet, she wants to give governments more power and more control"

Damn straight, libertarism is the only answer. After all if I want to build my factory that spews mercury into the air & takes it down wind over your private property I have every damn right to pollute the Commons known as our air. We should live in that world where you have no control what I put into the air you breath on your very own private L-A-N-D

poor poor (dead from mercury poisoning) fool

  • "i suggest you do some research on libertarianism "

I worked for the Libertarian party for 3 years

...care to correct my ignorant statement or just keep hinting at how stupid it is because you can't fight the unavoidable exploitation of the Commons under a strict Libertarian model. In point of fact all forms of Libertarism break on the wall of environmentalism...they just can't find a line that fits with their extremist ideology (hence why my work for them is in the past tense)

  • i already corrected your ignorant statement, but apparently you need special education. its ok you tried (i'll assume) but i'll put it in a real life situation.

there's a dairy farmer. there's a guy who owns property next to the dairy farmer. the dairy farmer pumps livestock waste into the river which borders both individual's property. the guy sues dairy farmer and wins. Now for your pop quiz: how many dairy farmers will now dump raw livestock waste into the river?

  • The bottom line though, is that the cowshit is already in the river.

  • so are you saying that regulations are invented before there is a problem, because, if you are, you would be highly mistaken. almost all if not all regulation is reactive rather than proactive.

  • why did you work for them at all?

  • Naomi Klein an international treasure.

  • Naomi Klein agaisnt the evil corporations! So full of herself...and so full of BS!

  • Bicycles and windmills? Think she is confusing Denmark with the Netherlands.

  • That will achieve absolutely nothing, like pretty much all "violent" demonstrations in the past. It will only end up pissing more people of.

  • nah. i dont think it should end at protests either. revolution if necessary.

you need to let people know youre damn serious, otherwise you get brushed to the side.
