This is a very cute video but just out of curiosity is there any risk of disease that can be contracted by the dog from the Raccoon? I was always under the impression that they had rabies or something.

I'm getting one! For real tho.. They lived under my house all my life til we blocked it off, now they live in the storm drain.. My buddy is an exterminator and relocates them all the time, I'ma just ask for a pup.. Then release it at my house to guard it and open up the bottom for it again...

I hope people who have racoons realize : Racoons have a stronger bite than a pitbull and so anyone should remember that the racoon can hurt their dogs I don't care what breed.

Playing is cool but people should watch the racoon doesn't hurt their dogs and vice versa.

I've had 2 raccoons, and they are so funny to watch play with dogs and cats! I'd never do it again though, because they're wild animals and belong in the wild. Cute video though :)

@muttbutts Mate I my have been brought up hunting but I have a deep love and respect for all animals. I don’t and never have ridden with the hounds and in fact packed in one of my game keeping jobs over the fox hunting thing. As for me knowing nothing of hunting in the US. @hardehar67 Interesting how the raccoon "plays" by biting the neck area. Until you've seen the mauling a raccoon can inflict on poultry small pets, you may mistakenly believes he's just "playing". This animal is merely "practicing" just like lion cubs. When he went home to the wild I'm sure he "played" in the same way with farmer's chickens, rabbits, etc. Go figure...we humans just dont get it.

Well not exactly easy, coons can put up a hell of a fight when they want to. Especially adult males. I've seen dogs come back from a coon hunt missing eyes, torn ears, noses gone.

@FlUdDeStRoYeR94 Actually, I've seen bigger, meaner, better trained hunting dogs get wrecked by an injured or cornered coon. I mean TORE UP. They can be some nasty little suckers when they feel they have to be. Imagine a really big cat with hands and almost human intelligence (at least as smart as a child).

We had a couple coons when I was a kid. They were wonderful pets. Protective, smart, funny and so, so curious about everything.

@DeathMetal4Ever1 its not just that, they get mean when they get older. Its their nature to be loners and once they wanna leave, they are done with you and they are out the door. Its really not a good idea to keep them as pets unless you know how to rehabilitate wildlife. You have to teach them to care for themselves when they leave and sadly most don't get that.

My dogs also got along famously with raccoons.

My rottie treated raccoon cubs like the puppies she never had, and played with older ones quite gently.

Raccoons can get along with a wide variety of species. Including my ferret.
