  • Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it. My daughter is already at Smith, majoring in physics. She, like me, has led a sheltered life. So far, so good at Smith. Thanks again.

  • @lydiadugan If your daughter is smart, driven, and excited about learning, she should go to Smith.

  • The LUG thing is just more proof that nobody is born homosexual...NOBODY!

  • I spent three wonderful years at Smith without ever having a lesbian experience. There are straight women there also.

  • Really, really dumb story. The concept of people experimenting with their sexuality in college is new to some people? Those are some sheltered people.

  • I would never send my child to a school that is proud of the fact that everyone there is gay for the stay. There is no diversity. That college can be compared to prison. When they are in, they are gay, upon release, they go back to being straight.

  • Do not sound so defensive and self righteous. I only said I wanted to know if the gay culture predominated at Smith. That is all. My child is not black, not an immigrant, not Jewish, and not gay. Is there a place for her?

  • @lydiadugan I had the same questions when I was trying to make my decision. After visiting Smith, I was a little worried about being surrounded by gays. I loved the environment and people at Smith, but I didn't want to be the only straight one. So I talked to students, and they said that was one of their main concerns when they were deciding. And they said their friends are about 50-50. Half of them are gay, and half aren't. They said if that was my only concern, I should go to Smith.

  • @lydiadugan I think she'll be fine! I don't agree with homosexuality AT ALL, but I really like Smith. Yes, sometimes it bothers me that I can't really express my opinions about it, but I focus on the the excellent academics and the great friends I'm making. That is what college is about. I think Smith makes way too big a deal about "diversity." By putting so much emphasis on it, they only draw too much attention to certain people.

  • I just want to know: Is Smith a college with a reputation for having a lot of lesbians? I am not anti gay at all, but, if I were to send my straight daughter to Smith, I would want to know if there were a gay culture at the school.

  • @lydiadugan I would encourage anyone to go to Smith. Especially your daughter, as she'll have to unlearn your prejudices somehow. Do you understand the problem with what you're saying? Well, probably you don't, and probably criticism will only offend you. But try to think - could you accept a "black culture" at your daughter's school? A "Jewish culture?" An "immigrant culture?" Smith has all these things - and, yes, thankfully, a "gay culture." That's why it's a great place to be a student.

  • i've wanted to go to smith since my freshman year in high school. im a junior now.

  • All female = dyke. A male reporter? Why?

  • same phenomenon reported at Bryn Mawr, called 'four-years'. Same thing, different place.

  • I don't get the point of this vid. It makes it seem like every girl who goes to a women's college will subtly be turned into a lesbian. It doesn't work like that, you are either born straight or gay or bi. Some girls do experiment though, but some are just horny and decide to become slugs (what is not a good thing since they will do nothing except make lesbians and bi girls get a bad image) and propagate that lesbian can be "easily" turn into straight woman if fucked by a guy, which IS NOT true!

  • @mandith

Interesting that you say that, since I'm actually beginning to write my MA thesis about sexuality and challenging the assumption that everyone is either "born" biologically straight or gay. Not all of us queer people fit into that framework, and it's more common for women than for men to experience change in sexuality. I'm not the first person to go to a women's college identifying as straight and now identifying as queer! Embrace the amazing openness. They were the best years.

  • @mandith

Plus, the sex would probably terrible.

  • @chica476 hahaha true!

  • what the fuck is this

  • that was so homophobic! lesbian don't "attack" people as you might think

  • they dont attack..they stalk their victims like prey..they so carefully convert the weak minded into living a life of self hate, depression, drug addiction, and violence. that is how they "attack"

  • that's ridiculous. I have so many friends who identify as whatever and they never converted me or any of our other straight friends. Besides, they are all happy upbeat people. Drugs self-hate and stuff can happen to everyone, no matter their sexuality, it's about individual traits, not sexual preference!

  • @professermiller

LOL. I wonder where queer people get "self-hate" and depression from... it's totally not from bigots like you! No, it's from the evil ways of other queer people. You're too absurd. As for drug addiction and violence... what? You need to go find yourself some same-sex lovin' :)

  • @professermiller Oh my goodness... is that how all this happened? And here I thought I was in a nice, simple, healthy relationship. Well damn. I guess I'll tell her we need to start shooting up and hating ourselfs.

  • Right on!

  • This story is pretty lame.
