  • Its reading an open circuit

    Cheers.

  • @COCOT20 I didn't realize that. But the car has long be sold. So I'll keep that in mind for the next one! TY

  • Your gauge is broken. Notice how it goes to 3 bar as soon as you turn the key? When there is a wiring fault or the sensor is bad the gauge will peg at 3.

  • @KamZ94 I know...

  • @KamZ94 Common now, it can't be that bad...doesn't need any pills or whatever...thanks for commenting!

  • this is so gayyy

  • What is the normal temp setting, I have a 420sel and it is above 80 I think normal is right on 80

  • OK, someone please tell me what is the problem. I just got a 1991 model 200D. When I drove it yesterday, the oil pressure gauge was at 3. When I drove back to my house, it was 0. Nothing more, just 0. The oil level was normal, and I didn`t hear any unusual sounds coming from the engine. Is the gauge itself broken or should I really be worried about the condition of the engine?

  • I would suggest you do an oil pressure test to confirm if it's a gauge fault or a pressure fault. The fact you drove it around with the gauge showing 0 and the motor didn't sieze up probably indicates a gauge problem. Good luck.

  • your pressure sonsor is broken. look at the pressure gauge, when yuo are turnch only the ignition on. it shows "3" without the engine running. sorry for my bad english, i'm german ;)

  • this is normal, a cold diesel engine needs full pressure, when the engine is warm at 90 degrees, normally he will drop to 2 maybe 1 bar. when you give throtle, it is normaal that there is more presure.

  • oil pressure will be maxed out at idle (3 bar) when you are cold starting. After you get to operating temperature, it should drop to 2.2-2.4 bar at idle and should shoot straight to 3 bar upon acceleration.

  • Definitely the Oil Pressure Sensor. Simple replacement and cheap part.

  • Interesting. My 1982 300SD always indicates a "3" on the oil pressure gauge. I figured it was normal...

  • It is normal once the engine is running, for the most part.

The abnormality here is that this car shows full pressure with the RPM at 0, engine stopped.

    Sensor is grounded out.

  • Oil pressure sensor defective

  • nice ass car man.

  • Coolant issues?

  • actually its grounded out

if you watch when the key is turned on it jumps right to 3... You should fix that before you break it!

  • Do you know how to fix that? Mine has the exact same problem. Before starting (and even after an oil change) it's at 3!

  • Very Nice!

  • It looks like it pegged out before your glow plug light went off and the starter was even turning.

  • dang the one i have has 410,000 miles

  • I digg that Benz!
