I know that Rita Coolidge had a hit with this song and that Boz Scaggs wrote it and sang it first, but Johnny Mathis' rendition *rocks*. I think he does sing those last 2 words in 1 breath. Gives me goosebumps!

To paraphrase the Beatles's "Hey Jude", Johnny would "take a love song and make it better". Endlessly better. So much better, is a matter of fact, that sometimes you couldn't remember who else sang it!

Although most of Johnny's top ten recordings are from the late '50s, I prefer his '60s output. With infallible taste he recorded the best of the '60s romantic catalog and he made them all his own. Such as this beautiful song which always brings tears to my eyes.
