@daniellarsonblues you may be right. part of the problem (esp. in '70) stemmed from the fact that Jimi recorded such a large dearth of material of jams, sketches of songs, re-recordings of solos he had done months before that it was hard for him to organize all this stuff to see what he really had and this is why he looked back to rejoining Chas Chandler in the studio who was such an effective pairing w/ him on the "Are you experienced?" LP as it produced some of his most venerable output.
This is one of the few Alan Douglas produced tracks that I like...someone on youtube has uploaded the original of this, pretty much just a jam recorded when Hendrix had the Band of Gypsys together...Douglas has taken the only useable parts, namely the vocal & a small part of the guitar track & just looped them while adding entirely new instrumentation and the female back-up...Jimi would never have approved, but I think this track is pretty cool..
i love how Jimi can change up his voice in every song like hey joe and cross town traffic. ugh if there is really a god then he needs to give us hendrix back.
This & "Captain Coconut" are the 2 post-humous Jimi tracks that left me really wondering where the hell he was going to take us if he lived.
But... that's all we got to remember him by, I guess.
Funny thing was, he didn't approve of the "heavy" direction (i.e. Black Sabbath, etc) that music was going. So, it would've been interesting to see how he would have interpreted the 70s (Maybe he would've sobered up and joined Zappa???)
@heckler73 I think he would have been more inclined to form his own expanded band like Frank Zappa did, and to gravitate towards rhythm playing and layers. In the studio he and Eddie would have continued to create magic, but with an ensemble of eclectic musicians of all types. jazz, blues, folk (no country players sorry) making guest appearances, like Jeff Beck does a lot. It would have been a much more interesting world of sounds if he had lived that's for sure.
Don't care if this is put together by the producer form bits and pieces and overdubbed - still, for me, 1 of the best examples of Jimi's sublime skills ..
why hasn't this song been released?? just like "Taking care of no business" wasn't originally relased either... so self critical
