i think this is a lovely genuine interview. he says he was very lucky to grow up in the 60's not boasting just saying he appreciates that was a special time and he knows he was lucky to have been there.

So technically I saw Hendrix live but didn't appreciate it til months later. It was odd for him to be a Monkees tour to begin with because Monkee's music taste was very different.
