  • Video made in Algarve,Portugal!

  • congratulations. today this video was selected by the NYC Punk Rock Evolution Foundation.

  • "Gnarly" as in "Groovy" as in "Cool" as in "Fly.

  • There really is some great music buried under all that noise.

It's like the Beach Boys meet the Velvet Underground.

  • rather like the beach boys on acid i say. ...ohwait

  • it sounds like the beach boys on acid

    nice

  • best description ever

  • but the beach boys were on acid

  • the beach boys on bad acid

  • Gallus!

  • I love JAMC.

  • really interesting sounds here

  • Very very awesome :)

    Still got the vinyl album...

  • ssp renfrewshire

    ....wearing black since 1998

    ssp renfrewshire

  • ahhh, so, is this band a christian rock band?

  • The anti-christ band..yes

Organised relligon written by the hand of men could never be good thing.

  • PSYCHOCANDY!!!....Best album ever made.

  • My favourite album of 1985!

  • I've never felt like sleeping with a band until seeing this video. At least let me bury my face in their hair...

  • hair.

  • The proud of scotland.

Yesterday (5/11/2008) i see jamc in santiago chile. Was amazing, his music is hypnotic and dirty at the same time.

The best of this year in my contry.

waiting for this band many yeras... Thanks jamc

  • yes...the show in santiago was...magic...and historic

finally, my dream came true...thanks JAMC!!!

    :)

  • from this day on ill try to make my hair exactly like them but besides their hair their music is totally insane cool with all this feedback like a chainsaw ina tornado

  • mary chain hair = the way of the future..

  • fuckin right. time for a revival

  • i'd fall in love with a boy with that hair

  • Waiting JATMC in Peru... :-)

  • todo mundo conoce a un jesus

  • your breath smells like all kinds of what? aye fuck off

  • I love the band, and the song, but this video is so cheesy.

  • Don't forget the time it was made, plus JAMC weren't a stadium band.

I, on the other hand, kinda like it, I'm not sure why, but I do

  • you probably like it cos its brilliant, its so dreamy and transcendent i dont understand how people cant just get lost in it

  • This band in direct sunlight....hmmm, I could almost smell the burnt flesh from all these years away.

Wonderful song, great band...a curse on those who would disagree....

  • I should hope nobody pushed Jim into the water, the resulting leakage of hair product would have killed thousands of fish.

  • haha!

  • who would've guessed that putting jamc on a beach was such a good idea for a video. this is great and they're incredible

  • haha, it's so Velvet Underground!

  • sounds, 90s but..

    looks 80s

  • epic and classic

  • Rayban Wayfarers, timeless

    My fav JAMC song

  • The original Glasvegas, without the social conscience! Psychocandy was brilliant, Darklands was okay, lost interest after that.

  • I am a tad hesitant on this band. I can say I enjoy the music-I've only had a couple of chances to listen to Psychocandy. So I like JAMC. But there's things that bug me about them, that prevents me from loving them. They just seem so bored. Lacking any emotion(as evident by their demeanor). Maybe its the formula I'm bothered by? The way the half-heartedly "sing" the songs, as if it's a chore. But maybe I'll think differently after more listens. Remember I like them. Just not love em. yet.

  • i was on that thought

  • That's just how you sing when you're born wearing sunglasses.

  • Sooo true.

  • it's because they are/were Weegie smack addicts.

  • JAMC look like they crawled out from the pages of Less Than Zero... I love it!

  • something about the way the old videos are made, they are just always better than the shit they have today, and i think they always will be.

  • Muy buenos.

  • One indie cliche after another - brilliant.

  • you do realize this is 20 years old.

  • more like 24 years old

  • good times with this song

  • the best single of rock and roll of the all times

  • This video is great. It just works. Sunny beach. Black clad, skinny as rail rockers. Cool aloofness. Yeah.

  • I love this song! fucking great xD

  • saw them last night with gang of four in LA... radical moves

  • Seeing them in two days! SOOOOOOO fucking psyched. GHAQOINBGi

  • I'm so sad I can't make it to the show tomorrow night :(

  • they look so pissed to be in a video haha

  • i still say this is the best thing bobby gillespie has ever done//

  • Yeah he fucked my sisters friend in my sisters bed!...she was like 'the guy from PS'

JESUS AND MARYCHAIN....sisters know shit about music

  • This is my favourite Jesus and Mary Chain song. Truly, truly great

  • When psychocandy came out, the album cover had pictures of their videos and live performances, and i thought, "crap! man, i wish i could see these videos!" Now that I can, I'm like "wow, that's all that was? really?" still I love the noisy feedback music, even if the band looks like they could give two shits.

  • Feedback heaven. Bands like this no longer exist. This lot should have had fifty numbers ones.

  • yummy

thank fuck for John peel (Big G rest his soul) and "maxhead room" on channnel 4 or I would never have heard this

  • rockssssssssssssssssssssss

  • I'm cumming.

  • yeah....this is the original noise shit.

  • No it's not. The Velvet Underground, MC5, the Monks.

That's the original noise shit. about 20 years before this.

  • Actually noise has been around since the 1900s, noise within rockmusic didnt start untill Velvet Underground yeah.

  • ok... but these guys are better! Fuckin' amazing!

  • Great band. Saw them live in Turin in 1987... fantastic... Psycocandy terrific album.

  • great song; shame about their video producer and hair stylists

  • their hair is typical of the date and genre.

    and still rocks.

but yeah, the videos of this genre are generally let downs.

  • jamc=stars

  • remember what was in the charts when this was out....

  • JAMC and BRMC are the greatest two bands ever

  • I agree!

  • I remember this song:) It was great time, I looking like this people :))))

  • not many bands like this anymore..'sob'..

  • yes ....check out a place to bury strangers. they are a complete carbon copy of jesus/mary/chain

  • I love JAMC but the new band formation is so bad

  • I totally agree! at least they are still around though. hey if you like this you should check out the new magnetic fields album called distortion and The Raveonettes album Lust Lust Lust.

  • I totally agree! at least they are still around though. hey if you like this you should check out the new magnetic fields album called distortion and The Raveonettes album Lust Lust Lust.

  • scarlett johansson singing just like honey ruined my life

  • so pretty

  • This is so great.

  • lOve and rockets and mary chain are the bomb

  • I wish i had hair like that.

  • yeah me to

  • oh man, they trip me up ;D

  • Like listening to The Ronettes or The Beach Boys in an abattoir - There was nothing anywhere near as good as JAMC in the 80's :)

  • they're still the best...

YOU trip ME up every time i listen to YOUR albums...

  • One of the all time best rock and roll bands. Ever.

  • Amazing how loud noise and rich, fresh melody can live together so well in the same song.

Only JMC where ever able to achieve this.

    A true masterpiece!

  • Well IMHO Dinosaur Jr. managed to do it pretty well too, and they didn't even copy each other (they formed at the same time, on different continents, and both released their debuts in 1985). But yeah, J&MC are pr'y much unbeatable.

  • a bit surprisingly for most people this becomes a majestetic song after the guitar solo

  • J&MC fucking love you and Thank-you. Just seeing a J&MC vid was an epic event when i wor a lad ;) Love to hear you here now.

  • Ahh... I love it when the sound of a song combines with the sound of the blood pouring out of your ears because the song is so noisy. :)

Now I do love My Bloody Valentine... but JAMC were there first. Just imagine what would have happened if Kevin Shields had ever produced them?

  • psychocandy was their best ever album 2 date...as 4 the sound tho',,,checkout a band called Love and Rockets esp their earlier recordings...i would hazard a guess here and say with the likes of Velvet Underground,Stooges,Sex Pistols the Love and Rockets too, were probably an influence!

  • Thanks for the tip! I've never heard of Love and Rockets...

  • let's not forget the early cramps. you can "draw a line" from the cramps straight thru the jmc to my bloody valentine. if you go for that rock-crit kind of stuff that is. at the time in 85, it was obvious how much they sounded like "psychedelic jungle" cramps, but no-one hardly remembers them anymore, and of course the records sound like crap on cd (like most rock lps-- ramones, jmc, etc, etc) so the aural similarities are even harder to trace for the kids nowadays-- but it's there.

  • this is very, very true. there's definitely elements of the cramps in this, and even more so with early my bloody valentine stuff. "this is my bloody valentine" sounds pretty much exactly like the cramps mixed with a bit of the birthday party.

  • ¿donde se ha rodado este video? ¿where was this video filmed on?

  • portugal

  • absolutely loved jim reid!!!!

  • FIRST LISTEND TO THEM ON JOHN PEEL SHOW

  • the best rock and roll band of the all times

  • It's the dogs balls

  • Mitici!

  • the fuzz is acts as a great drone.

  • FUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • haha if they used flat irons theyd be so scene. idc about the image tho i fuckin love this band. especially psychocandy as an album.

  • Ostie ! Leurs drogues etaient fucking hot !

  • louder louder louder! noizze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ..LOL..I was thinking the same thing..

  • no shit dumb ass everybody is! =)

  • ...Gee, thanks for the compliment....you are too kind........

  • Dear Mr hectorvegas56,

Lovely comment. Please consider feelings etc. when you respond. Have seen band numerous times since 1984. I stay around the corner from them. jaye230, The guy is a wanker!

  • Epic.

  • this is a beach from my place felas;) i still love thiz noizzzzzzzzhhhhhssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • the miracle of acid and looking to be the velvet

  • : )

  • This song is almost scary to listen too. Its so pretty, yet so horrible sounding. Nothing else quite gets me like it.

  • booby g's hairstyle was immense.

  • A million emo kid's have that haircut in his honour.

  • Kinda "A Flock Of Seagulls" haircuts.

  • that haircut is exactly the same as "the way-outs", the pop band from a flintstones episode. you could never see their eyes, either.

  • rock n' roll , buen fuzz

  • I've seen The Jesus and Mary Chain this saturday at Rock en Seine festival. When the night fell down, the Jarvis Cocker's fans were gone, then the Jesus and Mary Chain arrived and smashed all our best expectations with such a great concert. No "hello", nor either stupid jokes like the other artists. They came just to set clear what rock n' roll means. Fuck everyone else.

  • ah, le france... tres bon, oui oui

  • Jesus the bastards own a time machine and ripped off BRMC and ravonettes

  • lets not get carryed away with mbv..they invented this shit

  • Even Munki is Great...just takes a while to warm up to it.

  • saw these at sheffield octagon in the mid 1980s - brilliant - sad makes me feel old

  • All their stuff is great apart from Munki.

  • Munki is just as great as the other JAMC albums. Did you even listen to the songs "Supertramp", "Black" and "Degenerate"?

  • yeah killer, one of their best

  • this video is very psychedelic and recall the atmosphere of the cult movie Easy rider by Dennis Hopper. Psychocandy is a very important record, like the first Velvet underground or the first Stooges. They were better than anybody else in 1985 in the fucking music industry with their brillant record! I love you Jesus and Mary chain!

  • Sin duda eran unos cabronazos!! Ahora están mayorcitos como era de esperar pero siguen en la brecha. Salud peña!!

  • Psychocandy

the best album of the rock and roll history

  • the best group of the rock and roll history

the best song of the rock and roll history

  • Amazing song, from an amazing album. I just wish the volume was a bit louder.

  • mangled pop music at it's best, though the feedback is ear-wrecking at times.

  • it is very nice, although I don't particularly like it.

  • Everyone loves the chain!

  • Fucking love that howl like a demonic child it sent me into a trance moshing at the electric ballroom in 85

  • Hi ybot1983,

Welcome to the world of Buckfast and the home of decent music!!!!

  • MASSIVE waves of feedback.. just die for it!!

This was shoot in Portugal in the Algarve, just where i was born.. Just can't believe that! I love this feeback sound.. A perfect sound. So violent.. so beautiful.. Never found any musicians able to cope with such sound, it still scares.. but for me it is just a normal sound..

  • Nem mais...

  • Fond memories!

  • Yes - of 1986

  • Wow, Bobby G looks about 14! How innocent.

See where the Roses got their video inspiration from for Fools Gold. Nice one.

  • Very Scottish isn't it. Those droney feedback guitars = just like bagpipes,

  • that hairs not very functional is it....well i spose it hides dilated pupils

  • I think Jim still wears than same shirt! (lol).

  • Aah fond memories.. and it looks like they were on at least as much acid making Psychocandy as I was while listening to it.

Too bad Psychocandy and Darklands,in that order, were their only good albums.

  • Honey's Dead (92) is an awesome record!

Automatic is good too and I realy don't understand why it's so criticised... Head On and Blues From a Gun are great songs. And don't forget other great songs like Halfway to Crazy or Between Planets!

  • I wished Bobby stayed with the JAMC.

  • RUUD GULLIT

  • why did such good looking young guys need to be fully clothed on the beach?! maybe their shyness was an integral part of their sense of cool, i don't know. makes me lust after them even more.

  • Wow, sticky sweet, syrupy gay! 10 points! :)))
