What pretty cichlids. We have some in area canal (Miami) and if it wasnt that they are so agressive would have set up a 55 gall for some but looking at them in videos and the canal they chase each other away so opted not to in 55 gallon size tank.
i bought one by mistake i gotta say it's a very "interesting" fish. it's in my 10 gallon right know it's doing fine gonna be moved to a 20 in prob. 2-3 months their real aggressive kills tetras for lunch

and this is why people should do there own research unless u know the person dont belive everything they say. sals are of the Nandopsis gene so that should tell ya something right there. one of the top 12 most aggressive cichlids these fish will go for fish 2x there size.
Great sals, after I bought a female for my male, they both turned really dark and my male is alwats in his cave and not as outgoing as before, do you know why?

@FishBuds209 maybe yours is a male. Females tend to have the bright yellowish coloring.

buy a 30 gallon for it, thats minimum size
