A thought to think about, considering that we not yet can tetect an Earth mass planet around another star in fact the least massive planet detected is just under 1.4 times the mass of the Earth. Considering also that even planets a few times the Earth's mass are almost never detected much less a 1 Earth mass one and the fact that Mars is only a tenth or so Earth's mass, would it be too optomistic to imagine a desert civilization on a Mars like planet in another system.
