  • gangs of new york set is the most amazing set ever.

    thanks

  • When did gangs went from White people to Black people?

  • This was before History Channel and Discovery became all the Apocalypse and fear-mongering for ratings.

  • Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know You are the only way to God. So now I want to quit disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • HAHA at "3:20" buddy say "only the poorest people wanted to live there" yeah im sure they Wanted to live there. They had to. Can tell buddy has never been poor and cannot relate. to real people.

  • I loved this movie and I love history, therefore this documentary is awesome!

    Thanks for the upload!

  • the dead rabbits and the natives would bring the corleones to their knees lol

  • ultra-capitalist living conditions of the era prior to FDRs presidency.

the tea party is keen to restore the system which yields these living conditions.

  • @yutuboslaven would you have us all be poor, such as in communist russia? would you have an absolutist ruler crush the people with an iron fist? freedom is the cause on which this country was founded, and freedom will remain on the soil of America. God Bless America, Long Live The Republic. Freedom or Die.

  • LOL even firemen fought each other during that time. What the.

  • so basically like london but with more immigrants

  • Ahh, to have the good ol' days back. Maybe not so much, lol. Good documentary.

  • wonder why there's never been a gang named "terrible nannies"

  • "here's you...notch 45, you irish bug bastard"

  • New York City Is still Gangster

  • And to think there are still IGNORANT PEOPLE who think they are " the better race " , we are all sons of this earth and wherever you go throughout the world , the fact is we are the result of mixed races.

  • Gangs, from what i can see, is a result of neglect of a government that is supposed to take care of said neglectees. Notice the similarities in gangs and police? both armed, understandably, both teritorial one has jurisdiction other had turf, both have uniforms, one wears cop gear, the other colors, or atire signifying affiliation. Gangs protect thier turf, govt. is supposed to protect its people. Gangs seem to be a result of govt negleect. Dot get me wrong, I love america, hate govt.

  • @jake666thehellion I hate goverment love america and i hate religion but i still believe a higher power put us here

  • @jake666thehellion

Your comparison is poor and your argument is flawed. The government does not have a responsibility to "take care of said neglectees". Free citizens take care of themselves. The role of the government is clearly outlined in the US Constitution. Problems arise when government intrudes into the lives of citizens and infringes on their freedom and liberties which is occuring in 21st century America.

  • This film documents a different example of gangs, from what we think of today. But nevertheless, there seems to be a similar theme of conflict.

    (way before Capone's time!)

  • thank you for this. im a new yorker and i never knew bout these kind of things. thanks to this documentary, i learned more bout new york than i can in a school.

  • they should make a GTA (or grand theft carriage lol) in 19th century New York

  • @Lovesgoats you should pitch that to rockstar that would be wicked

  • i didnt know irish pple had a language ,

  • @kevinoti Absolutely they do. Only about 20,000 people speak it today; the British almost succeeded in stamping it out. It's not even related to English; it's a Celtic language, whereas English is a Germanic language. If you want to hear what it sounds like, hear the President of Ireland deliver the St. Patrick's Day message in Irish (which the Irish call it; NOT "Gaelic"). Type "President of Ireland speaking in Gaelic" into YouTube.

  • @Salguine While you are about right with 20,000 people speaking Irish on a daily basis, far more than that can speak it but don't. Learning Irish is compulsory in schools right from the beginning and for the next fourteen years until you leave. So most Irish school leavers would be fluent. But seeing as it is not really used in every day life, over time, people start to forget. Classic use it or lose it. Shame really.

  • @kevinoti

they still do its called Gaelic

  • I didn't know that Gangs of New York is a based by a book!

  • 'a deceased member of the rabbit species'...........otherwise known as a dead rabbit. well he's the 'expert'

  • @cylinder4ify it sounds kinda wierd in english , but rabbit (reabead ) means man to be feared in irish , and dead (ded) mean very , so .. man to be very feared.

  • Even so DEAD RABBITS is kinda cool gang name

  • Its not like this in NY. ..In NY around the 80's and 70's and before that Ny had its own gangs like the Black Spades,Savage Skulls, Nomads,etc.. Presently they biting off the California gangs like Bloods, Crips..and even Netas from Puerto Rico and Latin Kings from Chicago..Bite off's basically..

  • Does anyone know where I can download this video? Youtube isn't the best place for sharing this, but thanks anyway...

  • haha those darn Irish !!!

  • Wasn't Al Capone in his young days in one of these gangs "the 5 poinst gangs" also Luciano at a young age too...Can anyone answer my question if they know please.

  • @ItalianMafioso344 This is long before Al Capone's time mate.

  • about 100 years

  • @DALLASot You're wrong mate, Al Capone was a member of the Five Points Gang before moving to Chicago and creating his bootleg empire

  • @ItalianMafioso344

Capone was from a Greenpoint gang.

Greenpoint is a neighborhood in North Brooklyn fronting the East River.

  • @ItalianMafioso344 wasnt al capone in chigago anyway?

  • @ItalianMafioso344 yes they were both 5 pointers. Al Capone even was quoted once saying "i should have never left the 5 points (gang)

  • @ItalianMafioso344 yes they were both 5 pointers. Al Capone even was quoted once saying "i should have never left the 5 points (gang)

  • 1:38 - 2:04 sounds just like today, lol

  • is it really like that today still, in ny? See, i'm reaming of living there for a while at least and i'm happy for any real stories and things, to prepare..

    :)

  • good documentry, makes u relise america is still a child, a spoilt rich one at that.

  • spoiled

  • I work my ass off.

  • i made generalization, there is no mailce in my comment, but don't worry we're in the same boat and if it makes u feel ne better i hate my work but it pays the bills.

  • wat

  • @skandaa depends on what your perspective you take. for example, I am coastal salish, and feel not like america is a child, but a crazy adult who has a week mind.

  • @jake666thehellion What the hell'x, a xalixh??

  • @skandaa Uh I wouldnt say we're a child especially since we are the worlds superpower, so yea, we're not a child, we're just a young nation compared to others but already ahead of everyone else.

  • @skandaa a rediculous claim.. and id be interested in your nationality and how you have defiled your people in the last thousand years

  • @skandaa i will support your notion that america is spoiled and rich but to maintain that that has anything to do with this era is absurd... your comment is inappropriate in this context and i will refrain from commenting on other nations at this time who are much older than america and behaving similar to this day

  • humans are self distructive or so they say

  • I'm from Canada....But i do not understand why Americans humour you so. Europe had a much horrible time then i think any other place at this time period....so bad that you had to drink gin for lack of clean water and over population....why would you want to point that out? It's all very interesting. Don't be hating.

  • Wait, Where the history comes from? You know, other countries have their own histories too. Including America. Sides, European history is made up primarily killing each other and bringing the rest of the world into their stupid conflicts.

  • I think it's a great period piece. I don't understand people who call it crap.

  • Excellent Documentary. very concise. I like that movie Gangs of New York.

  • No Worries glad you enjoyed it.

  • thanks for the upload, very informational!
