First of all thank you for the kudos on the imagery. Sadly, I had not been to a single S&G concert, so I can not answer this for you. I agree this song is both sad and beautiful at the same time. The lyrics are so deep and profound and a lot of marriages are like this.

I wasn't trying to convey a message of love or anything otherwise. I was trying to just do a slide show of scenic pictures. I love the song and the tune. I agree with you about the meaning. I can also see it as possibly being about a marriage falling apart. Two people who had been together a while falling out of love, going their seperate ways. It's sad either way.

this song is about UNREQUITED love and although I applaud the time and effort it took to prepare this video it totally misses the point of the song. this song is not about people in love, but about NOT IN LOVE with one another. the images of the song are metaphors for people out of love. it is immensely sad and hopeless but highly poetic and delicate nonetheless.

Story was S&G issued this as a single in '66

but it was a little too intellectual to hit the top 10. Brilliant, but heavy. If they made videos back then, Liz Taylor & Richard Burton would likely be in this one!

he went on to understand pure simplicity and tact. and to add his ironies and post-modernist touches in songs like 'only living boy' and 'me and julio' and best of all 'hearts and bones'.
