@444JCP, I don't know about Annoyingthing, but based partly on some interviews and I read a while ago, I read the lyrics about the hole in the neighborhood to have a double meaning - It's about the bar he frequents to drink both in honor of a friend (nicknamed the "Seldom Seen Kid") who has passed on and to dull the pain of his death. But, I think it is also an oblique reference to the grave of that friend, which is why there's the line about bringing roses, which does no good.

@theswan86 Actually, that's a decent question. I cant tell you the answer, what I can tell you is that the songs have an awful lot of emotional lyrics and it seems from the stats for this video you have to be over 35 to appreiciate them. I went to see them at The NIA in Birmingham and the audience ranged from about 30 to 90, there were some younger people there, but not many. Also, the songs grow on you, until you know the lyrics you cannot appreciate them. Fear not, my daughter hates them :)

@bytesback I'm 23, but i agree that Guy lyrics need some time to sink into your soul and make all their meaning bloom. For example, I've listened to "Bones of you" more than 150 times since i discovered SSK, and each time, the metaphor of this song mesmerize me even more. I think Elbow song resonate more when you got some life experience and are able to understand the regrets of "Bones of you", the joy of "One day like this" or the dramatic charge of "Tower Crane driver" among many others.
