I also want to know your suggestions for short curly hair, my hair is cut short at the salon then I use optimum oil moisturizer to make it curl up and shine, i have not combed my hair in over a year lol but i am always looking for new styles.

  • This its actually a old school hair-do, my big sister used to do her hair like this back in The Eighties:) The only difference was she did the waves on the entire head instead of just the front. Its good that the style is making a comeback:)

  • @leolabell Actually they ARE!!! called pineapple curls (or waves) it all depends on where you are from.

  • My mom came from her friend's Solon and they did that for her a week ago. now she's asking me to touch up for her. I need to know how they did it so I can touch up, so i won't mess up her hair worse. how am i supposed to do so? the lady who finished her hair said to use gel and water... i'm like ok mom... :( I still don't know how to touch up, can you let me know how, cause we're going to church tom, and she wants to look presentable....

  • Too cute! I love it. I will be doing this style in the near future.

  • Love your natural hair and you have a beautiful smile and flawless skin! Thanks for the vid!

  • You know how dumb I am, I thought you were going to put real pineapple in your hair as a treatment. I was like, why she gonna waste a good pineapple on her hair.

  • do you think that this style would work with medium length hair? and what hair type are you? if you don't mine me asking

  • 4c 4a . thanks for asking . from stepf

  • I remember getting these back in the day! I haven't see them in so long; this brought back memories LOL. I wish that "brown gel" would cease to exist along with that "pink-colored lotion" because that stuff has done a number on our hair and scalp! You're making me want to get these again, but I have to find an alternative to the "brown gel" because that stuff dries my scalp out; I could oil my scalp well, but IDK yet. Oh, I would have went to the store with my hair net and all LOL.

  • that's a cute style!...i'll have to try it...also, an alternative to "the brown gel" that i found is FANTASIA FRIZZ BUSTERS GEL (it has a fuchsia colored top)...it's alcohol free, so it won't dry your hair out...it also enhances the definition of your curls...try it, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

  • Thanks, Bodytalkin, for the alternative to the brown gel; I'll have to look into it the next time I'm at the BSS ;-).

  • i will look into that , thanks fot the tip, from stepf

  • How did you learn all those natural hairstyles? I have been wanting to go natural for some time now, but I had no idea how I was going to style my hair. Except cornrows and an maybe an afro. You always seem to be so pleasant

  • thanks !

  • lol @ 3:48 cuz I see ppl in the store with scarves on their heads and they don't even think twice about it.

this is cute tho I want to try this. Does it work on longer hair?

  • yes its beautiful on long hair ,

  • Cute! I am going to try this. My hair has grown out so ima try pineapple in the front and afro in th back. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • you are so welcome , write me and tell me how it turns out .

  • oh I love it !

  • thank you,alessandrialee

  • thats gorgeous. but i have a question...the amount of gel, does it it, get hard, if so how do you defeat that. and I shall be using a different gel or none, the brown gel i had (eco-styler) said specifally "will not flake" so of course when all this flakage showed up I was searching for what caused it...then i realized only seen that stuff when i used that gel. ya--I'm slow sometimes. but i was wondering, would it come out the same if i didnt use gel...just water, oil and the net?

  • you can use any styling gel , as long its able to get hard enough to hold its form .The harder it is the longer it will last , i have seen it last as long as 2 weeks i hope this helps

  • that cute! I've seen people with this style, but I thought they were small fingerwaves. Nice tutorial, you explained how to do it very well

  • thank you,Bev15730

  • dang, i was at sally's today! i wish i'd seen this before i went, so i could get a hair net. i'm planning on doing this one day soon. 1. was your hair dry when you started the process? 2. for the waves to dry, i'm going to sit under a dryer. should i take the net off before or after i sit under?

  • my hair was a little damp when i applied the gel , you sit under the dryer with the net on , and when it's dry to take it off i hope this helps you

if you have any more questions feel free to ask

  • i am to "chicken" to do the big chop. i have about 2 1/2 - 3 inches of new growth. i would like to have at least 6 inches to do the big chop.
