Macedonia was there from the ancient times when FYROM didn't exist and there were no SLAVS .The northern part of Macedonia is now FYROM and the east south and west is in Greece and has been for along time before the slavs moved in and took the Northern part! Despite confusion over the name, ancient Macedonia is entirely in Greece (or very close to it depending what date on uses). The former Yugoslav region of Vardar (prior to communist Tito's renaming) is located in a region named "Paeonia" in antiquity. Aside from oppressing their own Bulgarian heritage, the former self-identifying ethnic Bulgarians of FYROM are basing their identity in a region that is literally in another country.

You guys somewhere in this very good video should mention the fact that Alexander's Macedonians were a Greek group of people, who were speaking Greek....they were not speaking Slavic as the so-called Macedonians of today do. Slavs appeared in the Balkans during the 7th century a.D., a thousand years after Alexander.

All ancient Greeks states (including Macedonia) used to occasionally fight one another. Ancient Macedonians were self-identifying Greeks (as witnessed by the fact they competed at the ancient Olympic games for centuries as self-identifying Greeks)

Actually Greece was very tolerant to those loyal to Greece. Gruevski's communist grandparents were kicked out (along with Greeks) because they where traitorous communist thugs that betrayed their country. Clearly Guevski doesn't see himself as a real Macedonian. He sees himself as a SLAV.

I love this! The original song has always been a favorite of mine for the catchy beat, but the original lyrics do nothing for me, so I actually like your version better. I love how much information you fit into the song without it feeling forced at all. Have you guys considered making a CD of your songs? I would totally buy it!

Macedonia is not Greek. Alexander wouldn't defeat the Greek army if he was Greek himself. He was spreading Hellenistic culture [not Hellenic]. Hellenistic means Hellenic+Macedonian. Just because Ancient Macedonian language was unattractive Alexander used it for communication between his army and his people only. Then he used Greek language just as Ilyrians, Thracians [and that don't make them Greek tribes!]

For your knowledge, some very old scriptures have been found recently (the link is below) that show that Ancient Macedonian language was a dialect of Greek and not some mythical anti-Greek language that Macedonians used "unofficially".

Even on a youtube video by history teachers, you still get Macedonian (FYROM) racists and Greek racists arguing about a name that they are both well-entitled to. Macedonia is a region of Greece. @Scythvole Has nothing to do with race, it is a matter of being told you are not what you are. It's about invaders taking over your family's land thanks to the Treaty of Bucharest, when Macedonians weren't consulted in the aftermath of the Balkan Wars.

Many world organizations recognize the people of FYROM as Macedonians in official documents and legislation. Not Former Yugoslav Macedonians, but Macedonians. These same organizations also refer to those from the Greek region of Macedonia as Macedonians.

I have seen it first hand in my interactions with Greeks and Macedonians in the same community, and judging from every mention of the name Macedonia in that community, both sides do qualify for that excessive nationalism that is, essentially, racism.

@Scythvole, we have no problems with the Greek region called Macedonia which is actually our land called Aegean Macedonia. Aegean Macedonia is occupied by Greece in 1913 and there was genocide over Macedonian people who were replaced with Greeks who came from Turkey in 1920s.

If you had Mexico changing their name to "New United States" and then start claiming some of your national heroes and officially declaring that they want to annex the 1/4 of your country's land, you would probably understand.
