  • I wish the crowds today were still alive and having fun like the one in this video, theyre reacting the way one should at a concert!!

  • @TheDarkForest72 i know what you mean its the same with their albums its hard to pick your favourite. but the three songs i like the most are 1. a letter to elise 2. friday im in love (mine and my girlfriends song xD) and 3.a forest.

  • This has to be the most emo thing I have ever seen...

  • @mrbloodytit i like penis

  • I was too young to go to this at the time sadly, that looked great and I know how good the Barrowlands is as a venue, saw them a few years later in a larger place and there wasn't the same "intensity" as this.

    Cure all

    x

  • Wooo Glasgow! :D

  • Great video and I love this particular era of the band. I first saw them live in 1986

  • its weird to see people dancing to such a dark song

  • @AlternativeUses i don't think it's weird at all... people dance to all sorts of dark gothy music... have you ever been to a goth club? it's nothing but dark songs.

  • Something small falls out of your mouth and we laugh.

  • best dark cure song indeed. well put :)

  • There is nothing I can say to even exspress how beautiful and intoxicating their music truly is and how no one will ever will even come close to what they are as a whole and what they really are,and what they are is just plain and simple. THEY ARE THE BEST FUCKING BAND EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they will alway's remain that way and this song is just unbelievable!

  • @averixo20011 Boy you summed it up in a Nut shell! so true! Beautifully well said! The cure transcends all time

    past, present and future!

  • This is one exceptional song of true beauty and darkness and full of such a haunting feeling that really takes you right in with those deep lyrics. This is one excellent time for The Cure here!! This concert is brilliant!! I do so love The Cure!! <3

  • I love this band now, just discovering or listening, anyway I think the band is unique in that the lead singer is also song writer and guitarist extroirdinaire. this is true music.

  • It doesn't matter if we all die!

  • I have even gotten my 12 yr old daughter into the Cure..She thinks Robert Smith is Dreammy!

  • Anybody else get a kinda "anti-war" vibe from this song?

  • @TechieRefugee No, but maybe anti-life.

  • @TechieRefugee Eisai arxidas...papara

  • @ChrisRaindog Err... what?

  • Awesome quality video. Pornography is such a phenomenal album! One of my favorites from the cure. Dark and brooding....

  • Holy shit! Amazing that this almost 30 year old song still gives you the same goosebumps as when you first heard it played! Totally timeless music!

  • what`a performance!

  • super great .discoenex loves this video.

  • That one guy in the audience in the white tshirt is really into it, heh. Also not liking the dancey thing they did to the drums here. Prefer the tribal "deep beat" that ends traditionally. This makes me want to pogo instead of hang my head and shuffle my feet.

  • Call me stupid as fuck, but I ONLY JUSt found out the cure were Brittish :|

  • @mrspacman0dontripit dude you can acknoledge that just from robert's accent xD

  • True wrist slitting music.

  • MAGICO

  • major kick ass WITHOUT drumloop

  • I agree about 80s audiences - nowadays everyones too busy trying to film a gig on their phones - but hey then we wouldnt get much on youtube...

    Great performance very intense...

  • <3 bob

  • The only thing I don't like is the bass drum. He only goes 1-1-2.. instead of 1-1-2-3... missing that 3rd beat takes a lot of panic feeling out of the song

  • @plateofshrimp agreed

  • @plateofshrimp very true

  • Here I am lusting after Robert again!! Cant help it!! Damn, he is just so amazingly hot here in that suit and his hair and well, just HIM!!! :)) His eyes are amazing and his smile just melts me!! I have been in love with Robert and The Cure for nearly 27 years and I know it will never change. The Cure are a phenomenal band and Robert is amazing in all aspects. He is so unique!! The Cure kicks ass for sure!! I love it all!! The Cure forever!!! <3

  • @darkforest121 I agree all the way Cure friend!! Robert is STUNNING and The Cure are a band all their own!! I have loved them for a lifetime!!! :)

  • @ihatecurehaters You are right!! Robert is WAY STUNNING for sure!! And The Cure, just amazing in every aspect!! Thank you for your comment!! The Cure forever friend!! ♥

  • @ihatecurehaters I know, right! Robert is a very talented, wonderful and sexy man. Anyone that says differently has got no taste whatsoever and no concept of what real music is all about!

  • @trollhater70s I couldnt agree with you more my Cure friend!! :)

  • Just before Andy Anderson got the heave ho....at 'The Barras'...brings back some great memories.....The Smiths, The JAMC, ah lost youth

  • This song is incredible! I LOVE Robert's hair <3

  • The most disturbing song ever :)

  • 80s were the best musical period in all 37 billion times the sun imploded and exploded again.

  • Did DK play after their set up?

  • Robert Smith is completely crazy...

It is my favorite song of The Cure... ¡Awesome!

  • lol at having to be fast to be intense. ever heard of DOOM metal?

and this is very intense, the same kind of desolate cold intensity bands like killing joke and joy division gave to us.

  • Love this video! Robert it is wonderful :O Thanks for this!

  • the kids these days dont have what we had back in the 80's....im time with the death of record industry and internet getting better it will happen again. It usually helps to have a really oppressive government too.

Good luck kids, cos the last decent back to truly rock the joint was Nirvana and they singlehandedly killed the underground

  • My dad told me about this concert, month before i was born.

  • Great robert !

  • The extra pick up was form an old Woolworths top twenty guitar adn was non functional!

  • don't think it's supposed to, but this song always puts me in a good mood

  • @ThePoopChef LOL me too!! :)) I totally love this song and it lifts me up as crazy as that might sound so I totally get what you mean!!

  • The Cure is such a kick ass band!! They have been rockin for 30 years and still sound fresh to this day!! Rock on forever Cure!! Robert has a very unique voice which just fits their music and their sound!!

  • darkness through the 80's, fucking great!!

is that a fender jazzmaster what robert is playing?, I never seen one like that one, 2 doubles and one single pickup in the middle

  • yes it's a jazzmaster but i think the pickup in the middle is from a mustang or a jaguar.

  • thanks for posting..been "dying" to hear this song!! what took you so long??

  • 1 week before my birthday I saw them thanks for this !"

  • Best song ever

  • This is my favorite dark and haunting song from the cure!! Such meaning and truth to this song. I have loved The Cure for 24 years now and they have never let me down for a moment. Their music has been there in my life and each of their songs has been there for just the right moment of my life. Such a phenomenal band and Robert, what can I say, so gorgeous and such a mesmerizing voice! The Cure Forever!!! <3 ILY Robert!! :))

  • @juniebird72 He has a lot of passion doesn't he! he means what he sings and is genuine unlike today's desperate wanna bees. Great stuff!

  • @juniebird72 have you ever seen the cure live? they're god damned amazing live.

  • I wish I was no longer sad but full of happiness and not complete sadness. Please help me.

  • great live version

    thanx for uploading it

  • Great lineup. Phil and Andy gettin' things done. Simon and Lol are great, too. Love it all!!!

  • i dont see , galoup

  • Of course you don't see Gallup. This was the Top era where Phil Thornalley stepped in to replace him. Damned good lineup too. Great rhythm section between him and Andy Anderson.

  • Is this the barrowlands? was 14 at the time would have killed to be there

  • Written by the drummer!

  • how can anyone say they played too fast?! That was a flat out f!@ckng primal performance. I can't believe how much noise they made. The transformation of Robert I think often obscures the fact that he is a fucking epic musician, and great guitar player. I'm so happy to see this video....I never knew (but I had a clue!)

  • wow... Phil Thornally on the bass!

    This video is something!

  • Great Song!!!

  • sounds like joy divison two years after

  • The Cure borrowed liberally from Joy Division.

It really shows with the transition from 3 imaginary to 17 seconds, up to Pornography.

They became a new beast with the Top. I think Rob got more comfortable with his own style on that "solo" album...

  • Sounds like you're right.

  • Hey! This was on my birthday.. I was 13!! Woo!

  • what do you mean about the drummer? Andy Anderson was a good drummer, but he went crazy one too many times and finally in japan he lost it. apparently he had a mental condition and needed pills to keep him normal

  • Robert was in a lather of sweat. I dont think it was just because of the lighting and exersion. He is just so into what he is doing. I've seen them live 3 times and you could just see how absolutely dedicated he is to his craft. That dedication plus incredible talent is why The Cure are still around. Thank you for posting this incredible song.

  • Best song by them...hands down!

  • This is right after the Smith/Banshee era. Cool.

  • One of the really great Cure songs...

  • Eighties audiences were much more intense than the jaded infantile crap that you see nowadays

  • i know man! everyone just stays still and stares. i mean: WTF is up with that!

and then THEY get mad when get into it and start jumping and pushing!

    grrrr!!

  • @jmezm7777

Went to see the Horrors in december, you would've cried.

  • @jmezm7777 due to the fact music has changed and is not really intense no more

  • @electronicmedium I dunno, I listen to a lot of fast music myself, and I still think this one is pretty intense.

  • @jmezm7777 how praytell were a 80s audiences more intense? other than traditional hardcore everyone just stood around like the do now... maybe you're just going to the wrong shows.

  • @magnificentbastard27

So which shows audiences are this intense today?? Hope u spare me Emo bands of course!

  • @novembrine1 first you would have to define "emo", smashing pumpkins audiences are this intense, deftones audiences are this intense, tool audiences are this intense.... i could continue listing if you'd like.

  • Estan todos re drogados :LI

  • what the fucks up with the drummer?

  • Who is the drummer???'

  • Andy Anderson

  • The drummer is Andy Anderson,he was drummer with the cure from 1983-84.He played on The Cure's album "The Top"(1984)and "Concert The Cure Live"(1984).

  • it's so cute to see them all doing the pogo

  • yet you watch their videos anyway

  • whahaha can see lynne and her hair falling about in this yin..

  • psh it's all about the drum machine. i love dream 4:13. & pornography.

  • Swing beat fails =/ Awesome for the rest of it though

  • this is not a good version of my favorite song of them. It shows that money disturbs creativity. The Cure were so great at the time only a few awesome people knows them!!!°°

  • Agreed...I've been sitting here imagining different beats for the song that flow quite a bit better than this one.

  • this song is insane can you imagine that the word were a fact?

  • Robert has called this "Cure pop", haha!

  • "This is for Mary" ? Strange song to dedicate to her!

  • they are brilliant

  • Pornography uber alles!

  • without drum-machine sooo much better!!!!

  • Good Performance Of the Song...The Cure In Orange version is better...but this is still a good version of it...Andy A. on them drums! He Is Awesome To Be Able 2 Play This for 7 minutes...of course Boris was great to...and yea, that is Phil Thornalley on Bass, Of Course Porl on Keyboards stage right, Lol on Keyboards stage left & the Genius himself, Robert Smith...Very Rare footage! I Love It! Also One Of My Fave Cure Songs...Not Too Much Posted from "The Top" Years, so thanx 4 posting dude.

  • Заебато!

  • Looks like the security guy has his hands full at 5.28 hehe!! Barrowlands audiences were always this crazy!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Cure raw!!!

  • Doesn't matter any thing, it sounds intense!!!

  • Pornography is such a fucking amazing album!

  • never understood how pornography is viewed as a masterpiece. Average Cure album with three great songs. seventeen sec, the top as good; boys dont cry, faith and disintegration much better

  • I guesse I consider pornography a masterpice because it created a whole world around it, the album is so consistent and deep, but simples and meanful that reaches out to the level of perfection. I can only also see that consistency in Three Imaginary Boys, though slightly less.

  • i really can't stand the cure when the're making "happy" music. for me faith and pornography are masterpieces, and then the cure fell apart. i know that's not how most people see it and robert smith has a remarkable insight in pop-music in general it's just that i really can't styand pop (or rock) music that isn't dark, opressive and or depressing. call me shallow but if you ask me: the top ruined the cure. which was exactly roberts' intention

  • Well you're right, Robert wanted to "ruin" the cure with the pop trio that followed pornography. However Robert has been quoted saying something to the effect that he's always viewed the cure as a pop band that makes stark and oppressive sounds from time to time. You have to admit that some songs on the top are brooding in their own ways... The wailing wall... the top... etc.

  • Actually when he wanted to "ruin" the Cure he would write songs like this :p. I like their pop stuff, but this stuff much better. Not their new stuff though. Bleh.

  • True. This was his "fuck off" statement, but Robert believed that everything leading up to Pornography was a genuine Cure sound.

  • You said it yourself, you don't understand.

  • Robert Smith is hot n' sexy with some good hip action!

  • just like the old days...

  • I've just discovered the cure, they were fu**ing great.

  • were? they still are fu**ing great! :P

  • terrific.. my favorite cure song!

  • ...and it's not one of the best "one hundred years" performances... but it's not the worst.

  • is it simon gallup on the bass?

  • no, it's crappy phil thornalley...

  • Wow, 24 years ago. A lot has happened since then. He's combed his hair..... twice.

  • temazo!

  • amazing ahh i love it this is a treasure.

  • dude, the drummer kicks ass for holding that beat for 7 minutes

  • fantastic !!

  • Damn, he looks smart in a suit.

  • around 84 they played it without drumloop - sound much better to me...anyway...always a sweety

  • any 1 know the text pse

  • Doesn't matter if we all die . a vision in the back of a black car . in a high building there is so much to do . going home time . story on the radio . something small falls out of your mouth and we laugh . a prayer for something better . a prayer for something better please let me meet my mother when the fear takes hold . creeping up the stairs in the dark waiting for the death blow . waiting for a death blow . Go to used record & tape store and find "Pornography" on casette - lyrics inside. :)

  • I can recite them all by heart, from so many years of singing along to this amazing album.

  • Bravo! Robert & Co.

  • No saben si estara en Mexico?

  • Pronto en Lima -Peru

  • It doesn't matter if we all die ,_,

  • i wish i was his microphone.

    jesus.

  • splashing in the water, splashing in the water

  • It's actually "thrashing" in the water...

  • it's better the Studio Davout's one...a lot better!

  • Alors là forcément, c'est l'artillerie lourde... Pornography meilleur album de Cure ? Et One Hundred Years meilleur morceau ? Pourquoi pas... De toute façon on s'en branle puisqu'on doit tous crever demain...

  • pmsl @ 'suck day' and 'suck out boy' lolololololol! made my day

  • DOES Robert say "This is for Mary" in this?? :O

  • I think he does! At least that's what it sounds like to me... and before that he says something like "it's as hot as a jungle in here" haha

  • He says "You could start a f*cking jumble sale up here" - because so much clothing had been thrown on the stage.

  • Ke tremendo tema de the cure..

    oscuro

    brillante..

    chile chile lindo

  • VAMPIRES!

  • It doesen't matter if we all die... I love this song ..love cure

  • i'd kill to be in that crowd. someone invent a time machine. :(

  • their music was like twenty years ahead of their time. amazing.

  • The Cure,Gang of Four,Killing Joke,Joy Division....i still dream of my ultimate concert experiance!!

  • sweet, and your age is showing as well...if only the kids of today could appreciate it and assaninate suck day and suck out boy.....

  • i'm 19 and I totally agree with you, I love this song

  • 15 and totally agree

  • okay..somebody seriously build that fucking time machine already.
