  • The 10th anniversary is definitely the best version of Les Mis. Every single member of the cast is just perfect in their role, with Lea Salonga being the star of stars for me. Each time I hear her sing, it breaks my heart nearly. I'm not a musical fan at all, there are too many of them, anyway, sounding all the same. But Les Mis is different. It just crawls under your skin. The Godmother of all musicals. Thrilling!

  • my favorite song in this musical! have officially fallen in love with les mis!! :)

  • Ok, who were the three people who actually hit the dislike button?

  • @bbakerbeers i asked myself the same question and think thyre fricken crazy!

  • 10th Anniversary Concert aka The Dream Cast concert

  • eargasm:)

  • now that's a CRESENDO!!!! :)

  • I love this cast. It's definatly my favorite!

  • Oh boy...this Les Miserables musical film is never going to compare to the original musical... I'm actually scared to see it when it comes out.

  • super awesome

  • I wish I could've seen the full performance of Les Mis with this cast live. :(

  • While I certainly understand all the love for Philip Quast in the comments; it's Colm Wilkinson who really makes this song for me.

  • I can never get over what a great little image Jalvert's bit is: "I will join these little schoolboys, they will wet themselves with blood."

  • Quast is absolutely epic...

  • I actually remember being there... it was absolutely amazing.

  • Replace Michael Maguire with Ramin and that's the dream cast :D

  • the only way they could make this better would be to have the entire song performed by a battalion of phillip quast's.

  • I think it's the best cast... maybe because I'm delighted by Lea Salonga's voice.. I love her

  • So... I guess 3 pre-pubescent Nick Jonas fans watched this video as well?

  • The 25th Anniversary was how I was introduced to Les Miserables, so everything else just seems weird to me, although ever version of One Day More is a masterpiece

  • I think the set-up for this song is better in the 25th

  • if frances ruffle was in this cast it would have been divine divine

  • Is it just me, or is it kinda epic how Valjean and Javert stand next to each other for this song?

  • Lea Salonga somehow still manages to shine like the sun amidst this amazing cast. What a superb singer, it scares me.

  • Have to say Michael Ball is clearly better than Nick Jonas! Also Colm, you RULE!!!!!!

  • Much better than 25th, vocals-wise and cast-wise.

  • Wilkinson sounds like Sean Connery. Not saying that isn't awesome, just not so much for this song. Boe sounds so much better.

  • @chancegold *blinks* Really? Ah well. No-one can touch Colm's Bring Him Home.

  • Look at the Kid Who Played Gavroach at the Very End of the Song.. he managed to keep that nlong note but at the end he looked like he was about to fall over

  • I want Raminnnnnnnn!!!!

  • F***ING BRILLANT

  • Thank God we'll always be able to look back on this as our beloved work of art is raped by the likes of Taylor Swift.

  • @InfinityEnterprises What a horrible attitude. Why are people so quick to judge things before they've even seen them or indeed before they've even been made? While I share the skepticism of a lot of people in regards to the new movie, I will not judge it until I see it.

  • I personally prefer this performance over the 25th. There are some brilliant individual performances on the 25th, but this performance sounds more harmonically balanced and the pacing was better. Sometimes it falls on the sound engineer to balance the singer's voices. This is a very complicated piece and there is a lot going on at the same time. This performance was very close to perfection... and I would use this as the bar.

  • Either way I pefere the 10th or 25th to the Movie it's just a joke thanks Hollywood

  • I also like that they cast young actors as Marius, Cosette and Eponine. It just seems more realistic. Not that I don't adore Lea, Judy, and Michael, as well. I think the girls who played Eponine and Cosette in the 25th were very talented. They just didn't have the advantage of experience that Lea and Judy have. However, I wish people would give them more credit. Also, I loved Lea as Fantine in the 25th.

  • @prue6967 Not to be rude to any american but as iv read the novel and i my mind its one the lighting sparks in the french revultion and thereby spring of 1789, there are more amaricans in the 25th cast and a more waight at brittish singers in the 10th that gives the old fealign of it, but then som of the 25th cast dont have the depth in there voice an the same passion in there rolls as in teh 10th, look Marius and Javert as an exampel...

  • @MRnissetomte I see where you're coming from, but I still like both.

  • @prue6967 guess what! im not from brittan but still, some of the cast in the 25th are more falt and havent the same apionion as me about there part and what the diffrent phases of the musical means...

look at stars ex, its more like a pray to the god in heaven but in the 25th it sound more like a speach from my old master sargent from basic training...

  • I like this cast, and I alo really like the 25th anniversary cast. They're so different that you can't really compare them. The only downside to the 25th was NICK JONAS. Other than that, I don't understand why the 25th gets so much hate, really.

  • @prue6967 Well I know why the 25th gets so much hate. It is because this one is clearly better, and thats an understatement. It has better casting and better singing. The 10th is actually able to play my emotions, where as the 25th simply does not.

  • @JohnTheYetiBeast With the exception of Nick Jonas, I think the 25th did a wonderful job, especially Lea Salonga, Alfie Boe, and Katie Hall. But that's just my opinion.

  • @prue6967 I agree, they did a wonderful job. But which cast would you prefer? As far as Val Jean and Javert, the 10th has some serious accuracy to how I picture the characters to be.

  • @prue6967 I very much prefer Lea as Eponine. They should have brought back Ruthie Henshall to play Fantine for the 25th. To be quite honest had it not been for Jenny playing Mrs Thenadier I woudlnt have watched the whole 25th anniveerrsary production. And Nick Jonas butchered Marius's image. I did not liek the 25th anniversary. But this musical is only going to get worse. Cameron is making another Les Miserable smovie with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crow, and Taylor Swift. lmao I wont watch it.

  • @Mileneum69 Now I am interested but I was wonder is if this was a musical movie or a piece of crap drama like the Liam Neeson Movie

  • @shanemerrigan1994 Well it is being produced by Cameron Mckintosh so im assuming its a musical piece and with the cast they have for it right now is funny. Go to imdb.com/title/tt1707386/

  • @shanemerrigan1994 Seems in the recent days they removed Taylor Swifts name from the cast, thank god! lol

  • Nothing will ever be as good as this.

  • Gives me shivers every time I listen to it~ :')

  • this ones my fave song in les miserables.

  • Like this post if you prefer 10th anniversary over 25th!

  • @littlesquidward42 goes without saying..

  • @littlesquidward42 This isn't facebook dumbass.

  • @littlesquidward42 Is there any point comparing the two? Both were excellent performances that lived up to their name!

  • @littlesquidward42 with Nick Jonas cast in the 25th who can possibly say that they like it better than the 10th? I don't like Marius on a good day!

  • @littlesquidward42 10th anniversary will forever be my favorite version. Dream Cast all the way!!! :)

  • @littlesquidward42 hell yeah!

  • lol, what the hell, Valjean and Javert sharing a mic? Did anyone anticipate that this would pose a problem?

  • @102936 Well, they do have that whole 'frenemies' thing going on. :P It's foreshadowing!

And *hell yes*, best cast ever!

  • @102936 The funny part was that Gavroch (spelling) got his own mic and was in front of everyone who actually had a solo

  • This doesn't give me chills the way the 25th anniversary one does. Although Marius and Eponine are pretty spectacular. However, I still prefer Alfie Boe, Norm Lewis, and Ramin Karimloo in their respective roles from the 25th anniversary.

  • i don't like this marius. i prefer the 25th anneversery

  • @TheBroadway1000 Have you considered doing standup? That is comedy gold.

  • @PeterJacksonMypreci i don't mean nick jonas was good. i perfer michael ball over nick, but i do perfer the 25th anniversary concert.

  • @TheBroadway1000 everyone prefers michael, he is the original and will always be the best

  • @MrMusicaltheater i do prefer him over some people such as nick jonas, it is just that i prefer when maruis's voice isn't so strong. i prefer gareth gates out of all of the people who played the role. that is just my opinion, i don't mean to be rude.

  • @TheBroadway1000 Try listening to Michael in the Original London cast recording when he was 23. He sounds great but not nearly as strong as he does here.

  • lol at the fact that this madame thenardier is the same girl in the 10th anniversary and the 25th anniversary! but this one is SO much better.

  • I'm a 16 year old boy. All too often the "old" people who say my generation only listens to trash are correct. But, closing my eyes and listening to this I can't help but tear up, there's just so much raw emotion flowing from these amazing performers. Love it!

  • nick jonas, pls watch and learn... this is how marius is supposed to sound!

  • 25th did this better, overall this is better

  • @FlowerPotNinjas What? Are you fucking deaf? Every single individual in this version sings better, they harmonize better, they are more eloquent, they are damn-right perfect. Everyone but Karimloo in the 25th Anniversary couldn't hold a candle to the stars that these people are. Sometimes I question people's sanity.

  • @Iced1992 Wow, guy. Excuse him for having a differing opinion from you. You have your preferences, he has his. But please, do continue to be pretentious if it makes you feel better about your opinion, it doesn't make you look like a jackass at all.

  • @bandgeek8986 No, you see, people harmonizing, being more eloquent, and singing better can be objectively verified. Whether you _like_ people harmonizing and singing better and more eloquent is a subjective value judgment.

See how that works? He can like people singing out of key, through instead of with each-other, and pretty much abhorrent in every conceivable way. And _that_ I am allowed to contest.

    Good day, sir.

  • Wait . . . Javert and Valjean are sharing a microphone . . . am I the only one who sees something wrong with that?

  • Three people disliked this?! That just makes my brain hurt. How can you NOT like this?!

  • @theatrefan06 I don't understand it, either...

  • beautiful!

  • 3 people didn't discover what their God in heaven had in store.

  • 十週年版太棒了!深深感動。

  • this gives me chills! so amazing!!

  • MICHAEL BALL slays! love it!!!

  • michael ball's voice is so amazing, i wonder who the hell casted that brat jonas something as marius in the 25th, his voice is so irritating and felt like as if he got a cold or something that is clogged up in his nose. rewatching this to get that brat's voice out of my system :|

  • @dajel11 i agree with you...he cant sing...talent over looks i reckon...

  • The dream cast, I was luck enough to see this cast originally. I've been watching the 25th Anniv concert tonight and thought, hang on, this isn't great! So logged on here to see how it should be done....... ordered the 10th anniversary concert on DVD from Amazon tonight so I can watch it properly again!!!

  • its truly amazing !

  • the best cast by far ever. the end. no arguments.

  • @mfor47 you are wrong. the end.

  • one year more !!

  • I'm sorry, but if you actually think that the Valjean in the 25th Anniversary performance is better than Colm Wilkinson then you are obviously insane! I saw him live, and Colm Wilkinson is the most impressive JV is history by a mile!

  • This version is spectacular...but I prefer Jean Valjean, Enjoras, and Javert in the 25th Anniversary Concert..Lea Salonga and Michael Ball are great though..I still like Samantha Barks. The thing about the 25th Anniversary is Cosette, Marius, and Eponine are portrayed by younger actors and they look so much younger, and their acting like they love each other is much better...I don't know, I just love Les Miserables. <3

  • interesting...

  • this is the 10th anniversary,right?

    the dream cast concert...

uwa~ literally, the dream cast~ i mean they totally nailed it!!!

everyone is simply perfect with their performance...

  • @ohryele15 The cast is so nearly perfect. So nearly. We just need Ramin Karinloo as Enjolras. THAT IS ALL WE NEED.

  • @ohryele15 Haha, well said. I agree! 10th Cast is the best cast ever!

  • enjolras is so sexy and no version will ever measure up to this one sometimes i just cry while watching this tbh

  • i love how javert says "i will join these little schoolboys" instead of "i'll be ready for these schoolboys" i have watched this version so many times that i just sing that instead! best version!

  • If you think this is the best version listen to the french original cast and you will see it's only the second best vesion :P

  • the first little segment was of him going "I'm Jean Valjean. Fuck yeah."

  • best bloody version EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMAZING

  • This will always be my favorite recording of this song. Colm Wilkinson and Philip Quast -best combo ever.

  • This is how I felt on 11/10/11. Anyone get it? Yes? No?

  • @wiseman152439 i know, the day before michael d higgins was inaguarated as president of ireland ;)

  • This show is proof that magic exists.

  • 2:48

    HOLY CRAP.

Is that Madame Thenardier? Whoaaaaaa... she can sing :D

  • Comment removed

  • who plays javert?

  • @harrypotter24601 Philip Quast. He's my favorite!

  • wow. who plays cosette?

  • @harrypotter24601 Judy Kuhn

  • they are not called Les Mis' Dream Cast for nothing! THE BEST LES MIS CAST EVER!

  • Quast is so good! Everytime I hear him sing, I get teary eyed. Colm Wilkinson is easily the best Valjean, and I've yet to hear a better Marius than Michael Ball! This one is the best!!!

  • you know that a show rocks when the audience grants it a standing ovation during the end of the first act!!

  • THEY ARE ALL SO AMAZING!

  • how can this be in HD ?

  • i so wish i could have been here to see this its soo amazing

  • Another day, Another Destiny

  • one day before the storm, what do?

    a)-follow where she goes

    b)-join your brothers there

    c)-be a jonas brother

  • The 10th anniversary cast was the best!

  • So much better than the 25th anniversary.

  • I wish on the 30th anniversary or 50th... they will act also, instead of just standing and singing the songs.

  • @amangkalikasan it's a shame isn't it? But this is billed as a concert performance, rather than a musical, so that's why they do it. It would be awesome to have a anniversary performance that is acted too.

  • @FreakedOutGeek yeah! Just like Phantom25... It was really a good show

  • Who plays Eponine here?

  • @RaySingh87 Lea Salonga

  • i wish i saw this live :((

  • lol I love how little Gorosh (sorry, I can't spell French names >__< ) looks a little out of breath at the end ^_^

  • Since it doesn't look like anyone else is going to bring it up I'm gonna. The main thing that kills this version for me is that Michael Ball completely overpowers Judy Kuhn during the song's climax. Hell, if this video didn't show that she was clearly moving her mouth, I wouldn't think she was singing at all. And it is a little distracting. Which is a shame, she dose have a powerful voice (Disney's Pocahontas anyone?). Good version, but the lovers ought to blend.

  • SPAM THE REPLAY BUTTON GOOOOO!

  • Lea Salonga really makes me proud. For more than 10 years, this one.never cease to amaze me

  • Way better than the 25th Anniversary. Unfortunate, because I love Ramin Karimloo!

  • just switch out Ramin for Michael haha

  • FUCK NICK JONAS. he destroyed Marius

  • okay, Michael ball pwns nick jonas...

  • That drum riff at 2.46 never fails to give me goosebumps!! <3

  • i just came

  • although the 25th anniversary version was very good I have to say nothing can top the 10th anniversary edition. Colm Wilkinson, Michael ball, no one can top them.

  • @Afin30 don't forget Philip Quast and Lea Salonga ;D

  • This is a fantastic cast. Really amazing, the only thing that could possibly make it better is Ramin Karimloo as Enjolras. Colm Wilkinson = Valjean, Ramin = Enjolras, Michael Ball > Nick Jonas as Marius any day of the week. Still awe inspiring though

  • Marius, Enjorlas and Valjean rule the house!

  • Lea Salonga...THE BEST EPONINE EVER!

  • 10th is 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000X better than 25th.

  • said it before, say it again...there is only one thing wrong with this song...it ends...

  • The beauty of live theatre is a thrill you will never get on film - either as audience or cast. The beauty of film is that the world has access to it. So, ...Philip Quast !!!?? Those of us who never got to see him as Javert only have youtube. God Bless youtube then x

  • Lea is the best Eponine!....

  • @13nickrock

    Nope.

    Frances was WAY better.

Lea is typical MT fodder, where Frances had an otherworldly X-Factor.

And best recording of "On my own" ever was Elaine Paige's studio recording

  • @LeavingCertificate - I thought Frances had a screechy voice :-/ But then again, that's why Frances actually suits the role of Eponine better. She's supposed to have a raspy, screechy, alcohol-induced sorta voice haha. But come on, Lea is a waaay better singer than Frances... she's just not the "right" singer for Eponine.

  • martydegga - how right you are. We do all indeed die, then sure enough you will find out what our God in heaven has in store.

  • Oh Baby. We're putting this on next year and Im rumored to get Thenardiér. This is going to be beautiful.

  • Javert's expression in this reminds me of Severus Snape right before he gives a detentions. -shivers-

  • Quast - Best Javert Ever!!

  • Did you know that Michael Macguire (Enjorlas) was 40 years old, when he did this concert? 40?!? GOD DAMN!!! i hope i look like that, when i turn 40!!!

  • "One more day till we discover what god in heaven has in stall"

Whenever I hear that bit I always say to myself, Ill save you the trouble, you all die!

  • 1:58 - 2:22 is the best bit in my eyes! I love this sing so much that I listen to it at least 3 times a day :P

  • Colm Wilkinson is the Best Jean Valjean EVER! Amazing technique and vocals! He has played this role many times and it is breathless everytime I see one!

  • I think both Michael Maguire and David Thaxton are my favorite Enjolras

  • We are doing this at my school in choir and i've fallen in love with this song! my friend is obsessed with les mis and was so happy we were doing this song!!

  • Lea Salonga - BEST EPONINE EVER !!! :)

  • @MizzSmileey Nope! No way!!!! Kerry Ellis!!!

  • @snowyangel97 kerry ellis ? she was never eponine ?

  • @MizzSmileey I mean Fantine, she, in my opinion, was the best Fantine, i think she wud be the best Eponine too.

  • by far the best version....

  • For some reason I don't like valjeans voice in this. I mean I don't really like this guy as valjean.

  • @tinabeaner004 Colm Wilkinson will out do any valjean ever! He has played that Role 27 times all over the world. He is an AMAZING singer and performer.

  • @MegaChoirGeek i agree, i made that comment a long time ago, but his voice really grew on me. i like him a lot! :)

  • BEST VERSION PERIOD

  • I've been to the 25th Anniversary show tonight and it was SUPE
